I still remember how CN aired many Hanna Barbera cartoons, which were later moved on Boomerang. HB also produced Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo and Powerpuff.
Back in the day 1992, I was a nickelodeon kid. I got to miss out on a great cartoon network. I wish cartoon network kept the magic going to this date. When mom and I moved to Garden City Kansas When we went to someone's house, I got to see great cartoon network, and my dad's house when they got Comcast I got to see boomerang channel. I'm grateful that I got to see boomerang early 2000's. Tv used to be magical! The music video is true
Thanks for uploading this! I'm a sucker for classic Cartoon Network programming and you can see bits of their genius in bumpers in this. Plus kicking the channel off with Don Messick as Droopy? *chef's kiss*
It’s so sad to see what Cartoon Network is like today… it would have been so cool if I was alive during this golden age of Cartoon Network! I can’t stand modern cartoons these days, they’re missing the fun and carefree aspects that these classic toons have.
In terms of Cartoon Network's originals, a lot of the Cartoon Cartoons from the late 1990s and early 2000s had that fun and carefree aspect that the classic toons had, but with a more modern (At the time) touch. Then around between when shows like Foster's and Chowder were premiering, their shows sort of feel like they're catering more towards kids a little bit that would have occasional adult jokes, but were still enjoyable overall. Flapjack is an anomaly itself, which is fitting for the type of show it is, where it doesn't really feel too childish and would often be unhinged. Flapjack's aspects would eventually bleed into Adventure Time and Regular Show, which are often regarded as CN's most adult-oriented shows that makes you question why they weren't made for Adult Swim, but at this point, their shows were less about slapstick and more about making lore and making characters relatable. Most shows afterwards would feel like it panders more towards kids, with some exceptions like Steven Universe and Infinity Train, which both go for the mature route. Uncle Grandpa is probably the only purely slapstick cartoon from CN that had released in the 2010s, with OK K.O.! being a blend of both slapstick and maturity. I wouldn't really consider Gumball to be a slapstick-driven show, as I see it more as a dialogue-driven show that often has meta humor.
Scooby-Doo doesn’t air on Cartoon Network until October 1994. Scooby was still aired on the USA Cartoon Express during that time until 1994 when the Scooby-Doo franchise became exclusive to the Turner networks: Cartoon Network, TBS Superstation, and TNT. However, when TBS and TNT ended their broadcasts of H-B cartoons in 1998, Scooby-Doo became the exclusive property of both Cartoon Network and sister station Boomerang.
Pup finished it's original run only a mere few months before the Turner purchase. It wasn't in the same syndication package with the rest. Which is why it arrived earlier.
Huckleberry Hound: Howdy, strangers. Welcome to the Cartoon Network. Yosemite Sam: Say your prayers, ya Nickelodeon varmints! Daffy Duck: Sssuffering sssuccotash! The Cartoon Network is finally up and leading off with the classics! Muttley: (mumbles greetings to the viewers) El Kabong/Quick Draw McGraw: Howdy, partners! Let me give you a 'welcome kabong'! Bugs Bunny: Eh... (munches a carrot) What's up, doc? Elmer Fudd: (shushes the audience) Be vewy, vewy quiet. We're scanning awound for Nickelodeon wabbits. Foghorn Leghorn: I say, I say, I say welcome to Cartoon Network, folks. Ed Grimley: I must say, it's good to see you all. Dynomutt: (spazzes out a bit before returning to normal) Sorry, guess I had a little malfunction. My excitement must've done it, eh, Blue Falcon? Rosey: (sighs) Blue Falcon: Yes, Dog Wonder. Mr. Spacely: Jetson!! Either get on the job welcoming the viewers across America to the Cartoon Network, or you're fired! George Jetson: Sure thing, Mr. Spacely. You heard what he had to say, Droopy. You happy? Droopy: I'm happy. Hadji Singh: Seem, Seem, Sala-beem! Magilla Gorilla: Is that a welcome from Hadji? I wonder. Penelope Pitstop: Aw, nuts. You're here already? I better get things going for you, folks. Popeye: (sees the viewers) Well, blow me down! You must all be here for the launch of Cartoon Network. And me without me dress blues. (laughs) Yogi: Don't you worry folks, I'll make sure to help Penelope Pitstop get the Cartoon Network off the ground. After all, I'm smarter than the aaaaverage bear. Even smarter than a cat. Top Cat: Funny, very funny. Tweety: (spots Top Cat) I tawt I taw a puddy tat! Snagglepuss: Heavens to murgatroyd. Your eyes do not deceive, Tweety Bird. Tweety: I did! I did taw a putty tat! Fred: Cartoon Network is finally getting off the ground? Yyyyabba-Dabba-Doo!!! Dino: (excitedly barks in agreement) Astro: Roh, roy. Ris is reat! Doggie Daddy: Mhmm! That's my buddy who said that!
You know i never noticed that before. Someone must have snuck it in there. Which would be ironic given outside of one toonheads, he never showed up otherwise. At this point they had to still get permission from WB to use Looney Tunes in these ads. As such why they have legal print stating WB owns the characters.
I never thought I could see this historical moment in better quality...
I never thought we'd see another upload of the launch, at least the explosion at the start doesn't have the VHS warp now
I was thinking the same thing
Ikr
Y😅p😅p bb😮😢mmyymy my😮
I think that has to do with the satellite.
I like to think even the VHS recorders got excited by the launch of that channel
I still remember how CN aired many Hanna Barbera cartoons, which were later moved on Boomerang. HB also produced Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo and Powerpuff.
The credits at the end don't disappoint

Back when television didn't get bad reviews I wanted all good shows to have a happy ending on time
0:00 finally, a CN start that’s clean
ANOTHER TAPE WITH THE LAUNCH OF CARTOON NETWORK!
AND NO VHS WARP AT THE START! NICE FREAKING FIND!
It’s so sad to see what Cartoon Network is like today… it would have been so cool if I was alive during this golden age of Cartoon Network! I can’t stand modern cartoons these days, they’re missing the fun and carefree aspects that these classic toons have.
I just wanted all good shows to have a happy ending on time before the 20th century end

Finally! A High Quality CN 1992 video without the VHS Tape breaking apart during the Fireworks Display.
I was born in the 90s when the channel was made, those were good times......
happy 31st anniversary of Cartoon Network!
If Pokemon was not on Cartoon Network, anymore?
great upload!
ed, edd n eddy was the last series from the golden age of the channel to die
Cartoons that get bumpers show how much animators care about making good cartoons but not nowadays
I always thought CN started in the late 80s. I didnt know I was almost the same age.
Happy 31st birthday CN!
I would've watched cartoon network more often if I didn't have to go to Brazil to visit my relatives all the time!
Ah yes, when my favorite TV channel in the whole world first launched.
Even if cartoon network wasn't 24 hours due to the adult swim cartoon network doesnt have the right for discrimination
Wow, I’m an 80s baby and I never saw this before. Probably because Cartoon Network wasn’t available in my area until 1995.
This was the real Cartoon Network. Once they stopped showing all the Hanna Barbera cartoons and other classics, I was done with them.
I hate 2020
Nowadays cartoons aren't as fun the way I want
...Does anyone else noticed that a cartoon character is absent?
A certain *FAMOUS* dog? Of the Great Dane breed?

Good. You know your cartoon history.
However, A Pup named Scooby-Doo appeared on Cartoon Network in 1993.
Pup finished it's original run only a mere few months before the Turner purchase. It wasn't in the same syndication package with the rest. Which is why it arrived earlier.
Cartoon network and nickelodeon was my youth so was toon disney
I'd tell you that they were a trillion times better before 2010.
But preschool shows are endless
I prefer the copyright Era
11:32 Dingo Pictures aah music used here (also this track is from Killer Tracks ik ik)
The only problem was that hey Arnold did not get a series finale which made the series forgotten
I Miss cartoon network 🥺
Hell, who doesn’t? 🤣
I hate jellystone @@L33TRedNinja
I remember this
I would've had more time with cartoon network especially boomerang if I didn't have to travel to visit my relatives in Brazil every two years or so
This was when it was new
But entertainment
Is this recorded from C-Band or something? It doesn’t have the obnoxiously huge bug logo like the other recordings I’ve seen.
Cartoon shows with character bumpers are popular those without aren't
I wanted all good shows that we love to have a series finale on time especially hey arnold
20:48 Walt Disney
I just wanted all good shows on nickelodeon to have a series finale on time so I wouldn't have to wait forever!!!!!!
8:31-8:39 - That was MGM, not Warner Bros.

No more cartoon network means cartoons are dead
2:43
11:36 BATMAN?!
The only channel for cartoons is disney channel but they do shows on hiatus!!!!!
Cartoons are supposed to have bumpers to show how popular they are, nowadays it's dead!!!!!!!!!
This is the real Cartoon Network, not the hideous abomination that it is now
Cartoon network theme? 6:37
Yeesh, they really did launch the channel by saying "fuck your epilepsy", huh? Besides that, pretty damn cool to have a higher quality of history.
Ed, Edd n Eddy was the longest series to last a lifetime not forever
Just a 90s cartoon.
The 2000s was the same
Why is cartoonetwork so bad now i miss the 90s
So does everyone else, bub. 😞
