St. Athanasius was condemned and excommunicated by the Arians bishops at a synod for not agreeing with them. The pope and his legates refused to go along. Canon 212 allows Catholics to voice their concerns about Church matters. That includes the invalidity of Bergoglio. St Catherine of Siena did not hesitate to speak her mind about the anti-pope crisis of her day. Our own situation here as to who is or is not the pope is not novel to our time. It has occurred before. And those who lived before had to decide, on the basis of their own reason, who the true pope was. St Catherine of Siena did not sit around and wait for the cardinals to resolve the problem. Rather, in no uncertain terms she told them that they had installed Satan on the throne of Peter and so they deserved to be tortured. Of course there are matters of Catholic faith which are not attainable through reason alone. But those things are not at issue here. The question of the identity of a true pope is not inherently a matter of Catholic faith, but rather relates to questions of actual material facts. Jesus commanded us to love God with our whole mind. The mind is the seat of reason. We must use our reason to know the truth as regards Bergoglio’s invalidity. Jesus also commanded us to be wise as serpents. Again, a call to use our minds. What is not acceptable is for us to appeal to some shallow excuse to attempt to justify our failure to employ our minds, especially when our minds are the only means we have, to come to the truth of this matter of the papacy. Always remember what St Paul wrote about the necessity of each of us having a love of truth in order to be saved. Those who have a love of truth must use their minds to attain to the truth of this matter of the papacy.

Both exist in the same space but are diametrically opposed to each other. I am a member of the former one and, God willing, always will be. Catholicism seems so bizarre and confused, going by these sites. All I find are people talking about Mary, tongues vs. hands, Latin vs. English, hatred of the pope, anger, strange saints, weird prophecies and signs and wonders, doomsday nonsense, obsession with sex and the devil, what a confused mess! Nobody ever talks about Jesus and his teaching: feeding the hungry, being peacemakers, not judging, not condemning, being merciful, loving one’s enemies, the hypocrisy and pride of religious leaders, etc. Are there any normal Catholic sites I can go to, or is this weird stuff all there is? I believe that "many are called but few are chosen" refers to Catholics - as they have the fullness of the Faith. In other words, it might be the few that dare to speak out in good conscience - such as Vigano that will be saved. It is about love of God and neighbor. It is about courage. We can't judge the heart of anyone - no matter what position they take...only God can see their intent - whether it is a pure intent. That is what we will be judged on. I am not, of course, speaking to going against the true Catholic Faith - just that at any one time things might not be as clear cut as to the situation with the issues in our Church. For me, I just research what The Church has always taught and let that be my guide.

He isn’t a cardinal. Most of Vigano’s claims turned out to be false and it turns out Vigano didn’t follow up on credible accusations against McCarrick when he was papal nuncio. Also, papal resignations can’t be done by pressure. There is no question Francis is pope because of peaceful and universal acceptance of his pontificate at the time of his election. So, it is not just an issue that Vigano doesn’t have the authority to say Francis isn’t the pope but it is an issue that would falsify the Catholic Church if Vigano is right. Francis isn’t being selective in “persecuting” anyone. Francis is the one who opened the current investigation on Rupnik. It is weird there is mercy shown here for Vigano on laicization but the same mercy isn’t extended to Pope Francis in accurately representing his pontificate. And all us lay people have no authority here. Let us pray and carry the cross of all this anguish in Holy Mother Church offering all to Our Lady of Sorrows to clean up all our self love and perhaps enoble our sorrows as prayer for the Pope and Church. That attitude of being over cautious to avoid slander is what granted too many priests and bishops sustained impunity as countless victims were scandalized and their bonds with the mystical body became damaged. There can be lots of evidence to support Vigano’s claims, but since things are being handled behind closed doors, we don’t know. Just as Pope Francis should not be a victim of slander neither should Vigano.

The pope is not Almighty God, not represent either Jesus or the Holy spirit. Pope represent peter, or the Authority of Peter by chairing the seat of ex cathedra in Rome. Well.....Francis is probably one of the worst if not THE worst Pope we've had ever....past bad Popes were personally degenerate, but this guy PROMOTES it....an entirely different animal.
Vigano has called for the bishops to address the validity of Bergoglio as pope. Vigano has a basis like none that has been proposed by anyone who has questioned the validity of Bergoglio's election. It's all about governance. Per governance it is not possible for Bergoglio being pope to be a doctrinal or dogmatic issue. It has to be governance and administration. Archbishop addresses the Bergoglio anti-papacy according to evidence and the criteria of matter, knowledge and intent. Bergoglio, unlike materially heretical John Paul and Benedict, goes beyond confusing matters of faith to contradicting moral doctrines. It is THIS basis, along with Bergoglio's actions that demonstrate Bergoglio's intent. Bergoglio is not confused. His consistency is in repudiating Catholic Morals. It is this that shows Bergoglio could not muster the intent to be the pope, and thus not accept the office of the papacy. Bergoglio is like a man who doesn't know what the Catholic Sacrament of Matrimony is, nor the meaning of marriage in bearing and raising children (and taking care of his spouse) yet takes the marital vows. Marriage simply does not happen. The bigger problem is not that Jorge Bergoglio is not pope. It is that we are all phenomenologists, nominalists, subjectivity and Modernist heretics and schismatics. I accuse ALL OF US of abandoning the True Church and Faith of Christ as a bunch of souls formed by an anti-Catholic Revolution, an anti-church. We just can't see this dragon because our fire eaters are the ones who faced it and were eaten alive by it. We have just been born and raised in the guts of this anti-Christian monster and have manifested a lack of ability to overcome the contrariness to Christ of this thing. It's the allegory of the cave. Vigano and others have escaped to see the sun and tell us of it's existence, but we persecute and crucify him and others for daring to expose our false beliefs and disturb our comfortable position of lamenting the decline of the so-called Catholic Church while doing nothing to stop the decline, reverse direction and fight for the True Faith and Church of the True Christ. The Conciliar church is not going to prevail. God will keep it afloat long enough for us to wake up, evacuate it and board the True Barque of St. Peter. If we want to be saved, we need to face facts and deal with the situation rather than look to false comforts of the heresy of Papalism. Only then can the real crisis be resolved, the papacy be restored and the comeback of Christ's Church be witnessed. Remember, the devil can deceive even the elect. It's awful times we live in, but they can end up being glorious by triumphing in Christ.
If Vigano is a fake, then he will collapse under the weight of his own wickedness, but on the other hand, if he's completely and verifiably accurate, then Francis' papacy will fall flat on its face! The way I see it, it's going to be one or the other! There's really is no schism here. It's a case of clarification and authentication.

The lawful Bishop of Rome, as the successor to St. Peter, bears full responsibility for all of the ills which currently beset the Church. Pope Benedict XVI was only too pleased to step down from the Petrine Office, since, by doing so, he ceased to be directly personally liable for the ongoing ills of the Church. Pope Francis is, of course, the lawful Bishop of Rome, the successor of St. Peter and personally responsible for all of the ills which currently beset the Church. I expect he wishes that he was not in that position! However, he is. The arguments put forward by Archbishop Vigano are unworthy of a man of his intellectual calibre. He is, obviously, a very unhappy man.
If he were happy I would not give him a second thought. He is unhappy for the Church, rightfully so, but you cannot judge his heart. My heart is happy in Jesus, but I am very unhappy with the suffering Body of Christ - I am old, and it wasn't always so.
This pope undermined his own authority by not including the title Vicar of Christ in the Vatican yearbook. It appears he doesn't want us to see him in the role as Vicar of Christ.

While I do not stand with Viganò, I do have the following questions: 1. If Viganò believes there is no pope at the moment, are we all in schism every time there is a sede vacante? In other words, can you be in communion with a headless Church? 2. If hypothetically, a heretic became pope, would that heretic not then have the ultimate get out of jail free card? It would seem to me that Pope Francis, prior to excommunicating Viganò would need to do one of the following: a. refute Vigano’s claim that he is a heretic, or b. refute the claim that a pope loses the papacy for professing heresy.

Canon 212 allows Catholics to voice their concerns about Church matters. That includes the invalidity of Bergoglio.

Our own situation here as to who is or is not the pope is not novel to our time. It has occurred before. And those who lived before had to decide, on the basis of their own reason, who the true pope was.
St Catherine of Siena did not sit around and wait for the cardinals to resolve the problem. Rather, in no uncertain terms she told them that they had installed Satan on the throne of Peter and so they deserved to be tortured.
Of course there are matters of Catholic faith which are not attainable through reason alone. But those things are not at issue here. The question of the identity of a true pope is not inherently a matter of Catholic faith, but rather relates to questions of actual material facts.
Jesus commanded us to love God with our whole mind. The mind is the seat of reason. We must use our reason to know the truth as regards Bergoglio’s invalidity.
Jesus also commanded us to be wise as serpents. Again, a call to use our minds.
What is not acceptable is for us to appeal to some shallow excuse to attempt to justify our failure to employ our minds, especially when our minds are the only means we have, to come to the truth of this matter of the papacy.
Always remember what St Paul wrote about the necessity of each of us having a love of truth in order to be saved. Those who have a love of truth must use their minds to attain to the truth of this matter of the papacy.

I believe that "many are called but few are chosen" refers to Catholics - as they have the fullness of the Faith. In other words, it might be the few that dare to speak out in good conscience - such as Vigano that will be saved. It is about love of God and neighbor. It is about courage. We can't judge the heart of anyone - no matter what position they take...only God can see their intent - whether it is a pure intent. That is what we will be judged on. I am not, of course, speaking to going against the true Catholic Faith - just that at any one time things might not be as clear cut as to the situation with the issues in our Church. For me, I just research what The Church has always taught and let that be my guide.

He isn’t a cardinal. Most of Vigano’s claims turned out to be false and it turns out Vigano didn’t follow up on credible accusations against McCarrick when he was papal nuncio. Also, papal resignations can’t be done by pressure. There is no question Francis is pope because of peaceful and universal acceptance of his pontificate at the time of his election. So, it is not just an issue that Vigano doesn’t have the authority to say Francis isn’t the pope but it is an issue that would falsify the Catholic Church if Vigano is right. Francis isn’t being selective in “persecuting” anyone. Francis is the one who opened the current investigation on Rupnik. It is weird there is mercy shown here for Vigano on laicization but the same mercy isn’t extended to Pope Francis in accurately representing his pontificate. And all us lay people have no authority here. Let us pray and carry the cross of all this anguish in Holy Mother Church offering all to Our Lady of Sorrows to clean up all our self love and perhaps enoble our sorrows as prayer for the Pope and Church. That attitude of being over cautious to avoid slander is what granted too many priests and bishops sustained impunity as countless victims were scandalized and their bonds with the mystical body became damaged. Vigano has a basis like none that has been proposed by anyone who has questioned the validity of Bergoglio's election.
It's all about governance. Per governance it is not possible for Bergoglio being pope to be a doctrinal or dogmatic issue. It has to be governance and administration.
Archbishop addresses the Bergoglio anti-papacy according to evidence and the criteria of matter, knowledge and intent.
Bergoglio, unlike materially heretical John Paul and Benedict, goes beyond confusing matters of faith to contradicting moral doctrines.
It is THIS basis, along with Bergoglio's actions that demonstrate Bergoglio's intent. Bergoglio is not confused. His consistency is in repudiating Catholic Morals. It is this that shows Bergoglio could not muster the intent to be the pope, and thus not accept the office of the papacy. Bergoglio is like a man who doesn't know what the Catholic Sacrament of Matrimony is, nor the meaning of marriage in bearing and raising children (and taking care of his spouse) yet takes the marital vows. Marriage simply does not happen.
The bigger problem is not that Jorge Bergoglio is not pope. It is that we are all phenomenologists, nominalists, subjectivity and Modernist heretics and schismatics. I accuse ALL OF US of abandoning the True Church and Faith of Christ as a bunch of souls formed by an anti-Catholic Revolution, an anti-church. We just can't see this dragon because our fire eaters are the ones who faced it and were eaten alive by it. We have just been born and raised in the guts of this anti-Christian monster and have manifested a lack of ability to overcome the contrariness to Christ of this thing. It's the allegory of the cave. Vigano and others have escaped to see the sun and tell us of it's existence, but we persecute and crucify him and others for daring to expose our false beliefs and disturb our comfortable position of lamenting the decline of the so-called Catholic Church while doing nothing to stop the decline, reverse direction and fight for the True Faith and Church of the True Christ.
The Conciliar church is not going to prevail. God will keep it afloat long enough for us to wake up, evacuate it and board the True Barque of St. Peter.
If we want to be saved, we need to face facts and deal with the situation rather than look to false comforts of the heresy of Papalism. Only then can the real crisis be resolved, the papacy be restored and the comeback of Christ's Church be witnessed.

While I do not stand with Viganò, I do have the following questions:
1. If Viganò believes there is no pope at the moment, are we all in schism every time there is a sede vacante? In other words, can you be in communion with a headless Church?
2. If hypothetically, a heretic became pope, would that heretic not then have the ultimate get out of jail free card? It would seem to me that Pope Francis, prior to excommunicating Viganò would need to do one of the following: a. refute Vigano’s claim that he is a heretic, or b. refute the claim that a pope loses the papacy for professing heresy.
