Namchang Dojang in Suwon is deffently one of the best dojangs in the world. Respect and disciplin as a priority and Grandmaster is a legend, a MooDukKwan Taekwondo guru and an awesome person ❤
Maybe this will help clarify: "Moo Duk Kwan" in Korean translates as "Institute of Martial Virtue" The original meaning was as the school name for Hwang Ke's school of Tang Soo Do up to the time he broke away from the Korean TKD federation. He took half his students with him. The remainder that stayed with the Korean government TKD federation could not use Tang Soo Do, so they called their style Moo Duk Kwan TKD with Ki Hwang Kim as head instructor. Richard Chun studied under him and eventually became head of Moo Duk Kwan TKD. I studied under GM Chun's senior student Arthur Cohen. I have been a black belt in this organization since 1980 and currently hold the rank of 4th Dan. The only part of the video that looks like a Poomse / hyung/ form / kata I see starts approximately 3:45. It's nothing I recognize. The rest are demonstrations of stances, hand and kicking techniques. It would help if the person who made this video could describe the school lineage and history in more detail here.
His explanation is very accurate. Namchang dojang is one of tkd dojangs in Korea, but it is specialized for Kukkiwon poomsae with their own tradition which might be a legacy from Moo duk kwan tkd.
Their forms are extremely different than Soo Bahk Do/Tang Soo Do But I can recognize that what they did was related to the original although changed up a lot
At 4:05 I saw part of Bassai Dai . At 4:25 I saw Nai Nan Chi Cho Dan, but they might be doing all of the Nai Nan Chi (Cho Dan, E Dan, and Sam Dan) all together.
Hi everyone! i'm a beginner practicing Moo Duk Kwan as well. can someone type out what exactly they are saying (phonetically) on each stances in : 1. Kibon paljase sogi 2. Kibone Oso kamsa hamnida!
no this is just one of a Tae Kwon Do studio's skills, there is NO relation with real Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan. they actually should not use Moo Duk Kwan name on this shameful video. never..
no, not him, just his instructor was, and his instructor left MDK maybe 1960's. and master Kang was his student so Kang haven't ever been in real MDK. he just use MDK name. so that style is just TKD. not MDK's style.

Excellent technique and very good basic fundamentals.
Nice and crisp. Makes a lot of American martial arts schools look poor by comparison.
This was filmed at Grand Master Kang Shin Chul’s Dojang in Seoul on a visit in 2010 with GM Richard Chun. At the time, the HQ of the Moo Duk Kwan.

Nice Demo and Nice Kata, but I think definitely Tae Kwon Do/Moo Duk Kwan..

kamsa hamnida!
3:42 What is that form called?
This looks like Tae Kwon Do Moo Duk Kwan
I did moo du kwan for 3 years, i never saw this
what do the 2 boys says before the basic hand techniques ?
Definitely not Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan.. This is Taekwondo.
Nice kata.
Is this Soo bahk do Moo duk kwan? Or is this master Moons Moo duk kwan?
no this is just one of a Tae Kwon Do studio's skills, there is NO relation with real Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan. they actually should not use Moo Duk Kwan name on this shameful video. never..
This is not moo duk kwan ...
Ya but can you do it backwards?
Nanchang Dojang...Master Kang, ShinShull...this TKD, not Soo Bak...Moo Duk Kwan not style TKD, is scholl...
+A Braga I might be a year late, but there is both Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do, Moo Duk Kwan Taekwondo and Moo Duk Kwan Soo Bak Do.
oh,no~
this is not a Moo Duk Kwan teaching, just one of TKD studio's skills, not real Moo Duk Kwan. clearly different with real Moo Duk kwan.
But, in fact, Master Kang's original kwan is MooDukKwan
no, not him, just his instructor was, and his instructor left MDK maybe 1960's. and
master Kang was his student so Kang haven't ever been in real MDK. he just use MDK name. so that style is just TKD. not MDK's style.
I know that MDK is not style, it's the school of origin... I'm source MDK in Brazil..
