  • The western approach to Col du Glandon is an all-time classic. It is part of the world’s most famous Gran Fondo, the La Marmotte. But it has also been a part of the Tour de France many times. Its status as an all-time classic is deserved. The roads have little traffic and the scenery is spectacular. This is not the typical climb that just goes up and up. This climb has many descends and sections of flat. As a bonus, you get to ride next to two beautiful dams. The first segment has two flat sections with a climb up the dam in-between. In the next segment, you move into the big mountains with steeper gradients, beautiful views and nice descends. As you get to the last segment and the second dam, you can enjoy jaw-dropping views for the rest of the ride. The gradients are more moderate and you have one last descent before you get to the top.

Take your indoor cycling to the next level and bike the world at your own speed:
Dive into an immersive indoor cycling experience with our training app ’Open Road’ for PC. The app lets you take control of the speed of our cycling videos and provides a better and more realistic indoor cycling experience compared to our ride-along videos on RUclips. The app is compatible with all ANT+ cycling devices, including smart trainers, power meters, and speed sensors. Athletes with spinning and exercise bikes without ANT+ compatibility can control the speed manually and enjoy riding with all the important cycling data displayed during the training session.

    Just add music:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is outstanding. But when it comes to music, opinions are very mixed. This is why we have added no music and why we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute RUclips and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, RUclips, etc…) and pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride... The original sound of the ride has been left out. This is because the natural sound of the surroundings is drowned by noise from passing cars, vibrations from the road, wind, and the rider's breathing.

You need to slow the video down to give the effect of cycling the route not racing up it in a car

No worries, many like the pace of top strava riders. But you can alway slow down the speed in the lower right corner of RUclips. Or use our app Open Road.

Did this last week in 34 degrees. Certainly seemed a lot steeper than the 4% average it says on here 😢

On this ride you gain 1158 meter of elevation over 29010 meter. But average grade is not a precise metric for deciding if a ride is difficult or steep. You also have to take loss of elevation and segments of high steepness into account.
