It's sad went you realize the Traveller in Inazuma is getting depressed and desperate to find their sibling. Traveller in the main story even declined helping everyone but ended up helping them. The more i look into the Traveller's feelings, I see them slowly broken down in pieces. It's sad and i see them getting tired of all this missed leads, I wish that something can cheer them up. ...you're right. And damn right on time. People don't take them seriously at all. Like we (the traveler in all forms) desperately chase after our sibling, so willing to do anything that might get in the way, and people be like "Oh welcome to my nation, we have problems, we're on the brink of war and you must fight it for us, for no return at all." The first time they rejected the stupid shit people ask them to do, I feel so relieved. If they keep at it in this pace, just being everyone's errand person, I'm afraid it won't be a funny joke anymore when we finally snap. At least... I dunno, treat the traveler like the desperate sibling they are, not someone you can welcome to solve your problems and then kick out when it's all done? With no intention at all to help (even when Ayaka was offering help, it was out of desperation, mentioned last minute to traveler as an offer to help *her* , they are all so damn selfish)? U dunno, I guess I thought too much. Just... Imagine being in their shoes. I would go insane for sure.

I can say that the majority people of the fandom likes her and content creators have already prove Amber is stronger than the false acquisition towards her. Back to the lore, Amber did try to help but was it enough? Nope the Knights of Favonious didn't even bother to apply some extra help to Traveller after saving the City of Freedom like those missing person poster will help effectively, they could at least send out a search team or something that show afford and how grateful they are to Traveller. Instead the Traveller found their sibling by Dainsleif help (well more like his quest). Sadly, the man who lead us the the other half of the traveller is gone without us following behind. If i were them, i be a bit selfish too and want to stick to the original plan of the adventure. Well, we will see how's everyone going to treat traveller after they come to save the day AGAIN in the 2.1 update. Anyways, have a good day to you.
The abyss siblings decision about leaving the traveler in the dark really did (and still does) grate on my nerves, but in truth we really can't blame them for what they've done. In their situation they've seen so much but perhaps not the full picture. Given on the few lines of dialogue we get from them it seems as though they've traveled across Teyvat many, many years ago. So while yes, there could have been a point in time that Teyvat, it's archon's, and it's people were just as villainous as they're depicted to be by the sibling, who's to say they haven't changed? I'm not saying the abyss sibling made the right choice- because honestly it was a callous and cruel one- but in order for the traveler to really understand both sides and eventually the truth of this world, this is definitely a journey that they need to take alone.
I completely agree!! Initially, I was irritated and upset at our sibling for leaving us (in the 'We Will Be Reunited' quest) like that, but the more I thought about it, I realised that we truly know nothing about this world. It's a whole lot of grey in terms of perspectives - everyone believes they're doing the right thing for themselves/the world/the 'best' outcome. We can only form a proper opinion once we've heard all sides, seen all perspectives and experienced everything. For us to do that, we have to see this journey through. 'Every journey has its final day. Don't rush.' or 'Though we need not rush, (...) We have always... had enough time' is all we seem to hear. My favourite line in the game however, is actually from Venti at the end of the Mondstadt chapter where he says to the traveller: *'The destination is not everything. So before you reach the end, keep your eyes open. Use the chance to take in the world around you...'* and so any time I find myself longing to progress the story or know all the answers to this world, I think back to that. :)

Well to be fair, the citizens of Teyvat didn't really do anything to Kanriah, they weren't even alive none of it is their fault. However if it turns out that the Archons did horrible acts/war crimes then I don't think they should be left off with just "they changed".
@@JustAPlebian That’s a fair take but honestly looking at it from the archons perspectives, Khaenriah was developing weapons (like the ruin rocket ship cube thing) that could seriously pose a threat if they were ever unleashed on Teyvat itself. So it really goes both ways as Khaenriah was hella suspicious
spoilers! from my reaction seeing both twins' reaction on the traveler's perspective. Aether siding with the abyss and leaving Lumine is like he is genuinely sorry for Lumine on his facial expressions, he seemed hesitant but still sided with the abyss. While Lumine siding with the abyss hits different. As an Aether main and saw Lumine siding with the abyss first, Lumine's expressions felt more painful to look at than aether's version. Both versions still hurts like a truck
Lumine's expression is more like a villain than has suffered from her travels, while aether is just angry. I like to think that aether was made like this to be the Canon traveler, while lumine (also by the color of her clothes) was made to be the Canon abyss princess

Seeing Lumine siding with the abyss and Aether's desparation, and the utter shock of betrayal/heartbreak on his face really made me sad when I watched the quest again after playing it. I was just shocked by the lore dump that happened in that moment, that I couldn't pay attention to anything. But damn... This quest wasn't too sad or outright traumatic, but it was still sad nonetheless.
Update: Remembered how we met, told in the replies. Thank you for the wishes, it often brought me back here and I'm grateful. :) Funny story with the third song, As The World Caves In. I had a friend in Genshin, who actually lives far away from me. We met by chance, I don't remember how anymore, but also by chance, I main Lumine, and they main Aether. Often, we would sit together in each other's teapot. We have special spots made for one another, and one day they told me that they made a place just for me, while listening to this song. So I opened the song, we went to the place, it looks like a stargazing hill although it's in the adeptus abode eternal sunlight terrain, and had a conversation. I made a spot under the tree, facing the sea just for them. We can't meet anymore. So I sit alone there. Thinking of the past. It feels sort of fitting, with all the times we adventure together. They'd always use Aether and I use Lumine. It feels like we really were siblings. And now, we are separated too. We used different characters' avatar before, but when we knew we can't meet anymore, they used Aether's. And I use Lumine's. It was a sweet gesture. Genshin really gave me a lot. Even an unexpected bond.
Thanks to the people who replied with kind messages. I remembered now, we met when the friend of mine entered my world and started playing the Moonlike Smile (Dragonspine song) with the lyre. I've always wanted to be greeted like that when I saw the nice Albedo mains videos, so it made me so happy. I had to stop playing Genshin after a while, so I told them. We went to my fav spot which was next to the inactive Ruin Guard in Stormterror's Lair as Lumine and Aether, and they played the same song for me for the last time. We haven't met since, but I can't believe I got to experience something like this. So I remember them still. They're like the Golden Apple Archipelago we once explored together - temporary, but forever in my heart. I know you won't see this Bun, but I'm now world 8 just like you. My Barbara's stronger, too. I have a 5* sword now, just like you. My name's still Bunli because of you. Thank you for the memories.
PLEASE I cried over paimon being an imaginary friend and now this 😃 its like the game keeps on reminding me the reason the traveler came here and what they are trying to do And the fact that nobody except for ningguang, amber and paimon care makes it so much sadder The others kind of just use the traveler and give them tasks This game just makes me so sad
I didn't know about that Ningguang voicelines, and oh god it's so true. It's so tragic. They all pretend to care for Traveler and throw them away when their problems are solved. Nobody knows when they were born. Nobody cared to ask how they feel. They offer help only to get something in return, and that hurts. Imagine just how lonely Aether/Lumine is in such a world, and for moments like these... I'm glad for the existence of them three, especially Paimon. Stupid, weak, nonsense Paimon... But with a heart as big as the universe, she's enough. At least, for now. I'm not surprised if traveler ends up breaking. At this pace it's expected.
*The Abyss siblings may have said the same lines but there's so much difference between the voice and the face. Aether as the Abyssal Royal may seem cold, but there's something in their eyes that say "I wish for this to end, I wish I could drop this and come home with you, but I can't, a lot depends on this, I love you but this comes first" and Lumine as the Abyssal Royal looks and sounds cold, they care for their sibling their eyes say "My war with destiny will finish, even if it means I'd have to fight you"* *The voice actors did such a good job, so kudos to them*
God damn it Aether betrayed Lumine and yet my heart is wanting to go with him and be on Kaeya's side (since y'know his bloodline is from Khaenri'ah) but I've made so many friends as traveller- I'm so conflicted!!!
Okay but I actually love Abyss Aether, cause it felt like he know what he's doing and Aether, as the older sibling to Lumine, he has that calm, protective but concerned demeanor before he left us, which made me bawl my eyes out 😩😭 Tho I also like Abyss Lumine who's cold and determined
i like Abyss Aether so much ♡ theres a point in the quest where Dainsleif points out the Abyss Order may have been told to avoid the Traveler, and it feels like Aether’s looking out for his baby sister’s safety
Even though I picked Lumine, she also does very well as the antagonist. A determined girl who will do anything to take revenge over a nation she lost because of the gods. Sometimes I truly want to side with the abyss order.
Here’s a theory of mine!! SPOILERS!! In the quest we will be reunited our sibling says “Once you finish the end of your journey like I did, you will see for yourself” my theory is that on that our sibling had the same adventure, but realized faster that everyone was using them. After the we will be reunited quest I don’t think we’re looking for our sibling, I think we’re looking for the end of our journey.

"I've already traveled through this a world once. when you, too, complete your journey, you'll realize the true nature of this world." my whole body is shaking, I can't stand to see him get taken away from me again. except this time... he's leaving. hot tears roll down my cheeks, and a sob escapes my mouth. my brother turns and walks through the portal without hesitation. My brother, my only hope...was gone. again.

Every hope, dream, aspiration she had with him had gone. The Archons were right, as wrong as she wanted them to be. 'W-why.. why did you choose them.. why. Why WHY WHY?!' She screamed, suddenly lunging in front. *Thud.* Once again she was knocked down with a simple block. She let out a scream of frustration, as the tears continued to fall down. A cold hand met her cheek, as she slowly looked up, locking eyes with those once familiar, gentle brown eyes. Her body felt weak, she was so tired of fighting the one she was meant to protect, the one she loved most. 'Why, Aether. Why didn't you choose me?..' As the cold blade plunged into her, blood coughed out of her mouth, slowly dripping down her chin. 'Because, Lumine, I love you.' Those words had wounded her harder than anything had ever hurt her. As her body, now limp and lifeless, collapsed onto the floor, Aether sighed. He had won, but at what cost?

Imma make a POV. Khaenri’ah. A nation without a god, built by the people. The citizens never expected their nation to fall, at the hands of gods themselves. The survivors created an organization, lead by hatred. They had one goal: get revenge on the gods and take over the continent of Teyvat. 500 years later, this goal is still in mind. Lumine gripped the handle of her sword. She stared at the person before her. Light blonde hair styled in a braid, golden eyes. They looked identical. “Lumine?” She was set aback by his words. It’s been so long since her name came out of his mouth. “Lumine, I’ve finally found you! Let’s go home!” The cheer in his voice physically hurt her. “No.” Lumine muttered. She locked eyes with him. “I can’t leave, Aether.” “What do you mean you can’t leave?” “The abyss is my duty now. I have to do what’s right.” His eyes filled with dread. “The abyss is trying to overrule Teyvat! They are the enemy!” He paused, making his voice softer. “Are you working with the abyss?” Tears started to form in his eyes. “I have already travelled through this world once. I’ve seen people slowly corrupt, gods slowly turn. The gods can’t be trusted. They destroyed the nation of Khaenri’ah! I need revenge!” Her voice began to tremble. “I’m not letting you stop me.” Aether couldn’t utter a word. The peace and hope in his sisters eyes was gone. She was now a stranger to him. The person he was most close to, was now the complete opposite. “Leave, Aether!” She asserted. “I won’t hesitate to kill you here and now!” She held up her sword, already stained red of blood. Aether backed up. A tear ran down his face. A portal formed behind Lumine. She turned around, walking through it. She never looked back. In the blink of an eye, she was gone. Aether promised that one day they would be reunited. But you can’t reunite with a complete stranger...
When I finished the quest, I didn't feel broken or burst into tears, but I just felt sorry for the main character Like, imagine your sibling went missing, and you finally reunited with them just to find out that they're evil.
Lmao 4 months late, but I really like the fact that her face is cut off. No, not because I hate her or anything like that, I love Paimon, but it’s like she’s not there to see what’s happening, in fact, nobody’s there to see what’s happening. It’s just Lumine staring at Aether, shocked and betrayed, with Aether smiling back. A sad, pained smile, but a smile nonetheless. After all this time they’ve been separated, Aether insists Lumine wait just a _little_ longer. But it’s been so long, nobody knows it’s been so long. Everyone Lumine has met and helped, they don’t know how long she’s waited for this one moment just to see him again, at least once more. Barely any single person attempted to help her find Aether. In the end, it was like she was all alone. Nobody really cared about her goal. Even when she made it clear, they all somehow found a way to bend around it and use her. Now, seeing her one mission walking away from her, telling her “soon, but just not now.”, she truly is alone. I don't care at this point, I just wanna find the other sibling again. I chose Lumine, so listening to Aether's voice lines and then listening to Lumines of RUclips you notice a real difference. Aether is obviously done with the Abyss, he's tired and he wants to just go home. But lumine is determined and seeks revenge. And she won't stop even if Aether gets in the way. But accounting on how our sibling is the enemy, we will most likely end up hurting them to save this world, even if it throws our own state down the gorge. I do like drama in games, it makes it more fun. But please, DONT MAKE US KILL OUR TWIN PLEASE 😭

ugh yall actually got to the part of the quest where u see the other twin when I'm struggling with enemies ( A ruin hunter ( Idk, a ruin that flies) Hillichurls and two abyss mages and i am trying to get better artifacts for my characters ✋😫)
I had trouble with that too. ;;; What I did is I let the enemies follow me away from the ruin guard and defeated them leaving the ruin guard alone and finished them off using a bow user and then whoever is my strongest unit. I hope this helps you though; good luck!!!

If you have any trouble in the future with enemies, consider lowering your world lvl! I was having a hard time too with this quest until I lowered the world level and after that I could be them easily!
It was also super hard and stressful for me too, but i was able to do it, im sad i spoiled it to myself, i would have actually cried if i hadent known ;-;

Flames engulf the scene. The ashes of Monstadt beneath their feet, the people scattered about the tainted land, wounded or dead. Jean, Kaeya, Amber, Diluc - all of them. And within Lumine's arms, lay the very thing that caused this all. Her family, her best friend, her *brother*. Aether. She cradles him gently, her body involuntarily rocking back and forth as she copes with the traumatic battle; the death of her own blood. Her sobs started small, scratching the back of her throat as she tries to swallow the lump forming even bigger. This isn't how it should have ended. No... Aether should have been able to go home. She wanted to bring him to the tavern once she found him, sharing an apple cider over a much needed catch-up. She wanted to show him the bustling city of Liyue and all of the friends he made there. She wanted to relax with him on the peak of Mount Yougou, overlooking the beautiful landscapes of Inazuma. Was it worth it, Aether? You toppled the nation of the wind and decimated their god, and for what? Only to die before your plan was complete? Or to betray your sibling, dying at her sword with the small ghost of a smile? Muttering the words, "thank you, Lumine." before taking your last breath? Was this what you wanted? A strangled scream of pure anguish tore through Lumine's throat as she leans over his dead body, pulling him closer to her as blood continues to empty from his wounds. That smile was still there on his face, taunting her. This wasn't fair. The tears burned her blood-soaked skin, reminding her of all that she lost. Without her brother, she has no reason to keep forward. This was simply the end of the line.
I've listened to this way too many times to count it's really sad but chill I like doing my homework and chores while listening to this the voice overs really fit in with these songs you did a great job haha
Because I'm sad heres a quick POV to cheer my self up with reverse comfort. Basically comforting the traveler ( theres hints at spoilers, but overall nothing really, it's mostly just about travellers sibling, but it doesnr spoil what happened to them): 0:00 " Ya know Traveler...?" You thought outloud while looking at them walking beside you. " You outta care more for your self." They seemed to freeze in place as you also stopped your walking with your own annoying companion. You companion and Paimon gave you both confused looks before huffing and going off to go find something. The traveler glared st the ground there feet starting to try and destroy it. You budge your own foot against theres. Then looked up at you and you heard them gulp. Casting their gaze back down to the dirt in the grass they start tracing something. With their foot ofcourse. You looked at it and soon realised they were drawing their sibling. " You miss them-" You cleared your throat at your stupid sentance and then resaid your sentance "-No I know that. You want your home back not this opera show." They tensed but kept drawing their sibling. Adding the desgihns and their hair slightly falling over their face as they looked down. A smile without the genuine wrinkle was on their face. " Maybe there looking for you the same way...? They are strong." You moved their hair out of their face to get a clear look at their face. A single tear fell down their face. It was that bad, huh? Not full on crying, but just a bit. There pupils seemed to be shaking a bit as they were shivering themselves. Without risking a second you slanked your arm over their shoulder and pulled them into you. They still didnt say anything, but you felt their hand slightly grip your skirt/pants/shorts. "Is it worth it?" You heard then faintly murmer. If it werent for them being so close to you, your not sure you would hear. "Their out there. Watching over you probably." You whispered into their ear as you tightened the hug on them. You glanced at the hill in the corner of your eye. Somebody was there and you knew it. " You'll feel it Lumine/Aether." They buried their head into the crook of your neck and all of sudden you felt water there. " mm....th... th....thankyou." they whispered You let out a sigh and then used your hand to ruffle their hair. " No worrys...." You then looked back to the moutian as the presence you felt before vanished "Please see them soon."

i know a lot of people who would chose to go against the sibling and stay in teyvat because of how much they love everyone. but i would chose to pick the sibling, if i were given the choice. from the very beginning, all that aether/lumine ever wanted was to find their sibling. while they did meet amazing people along the way, the twins are bounded bt blood. when you think about it, their story is heartbreaking. the chosen sibling meets their other half, just for them to walk away. they are left all alone, for the second time, and they long for their sibling even more. all i want at the end of the story, at the end of our journey, at the end of it all, is for the twins to be back together again and happy. that is my wish.

i kept waiting for the option to tell aether to \take me with him and ill fight alongside him no matter what as long as we were together....it never came...
Is it possible to smell... feelings? Like the atmosphere or something when there something warm or happy I imagine a sunkissed image that smell like.. uh.. freshly made warm food or when it's sad or just a mood where you feel so relaxed like you just feel so sleepy I imagine a misty gray foggy forest that smell the way it smells after the rain idk how to say it but I feel so nice when something gives me the feelings ya know?
As someone whos halfway thru the Vison hunt quest. The separation in the travellers eyes as Teppi is injured and others are just being hurt or worse, they are slowly losing the want to help. It’s heartbreaking
Ok this is my theory, Ik it’s kinda dumb but: Aether/Lumine woke up before Traveler, and since we don’t know how long before, Lumine/Aether probably did everything we did and more, And I think the unknown god controls time. So when we meet, Is when the times line up. But instead of Paimon as their guide, Dain was theirs. I think when we first encountered the unknown god, we were in khaenri'ah. Explaining why traveler remembers it.
imagine if one day lumine get target by the unknown god or the higher celestia, suddenly aether appear no where fighting the god and he said "im not going to let same thing happen like five hundred years ago!" and he eventually die saving lumine because no matter how dark he became or join wrong forces his love for his twins will never change like usual and he will said "after all any big brother would to protect his little sis " while smiling :(

Luminescent snowflakes danced in the air, settling on the stone walls of the city, but it felt like nothing would ever settle within Aether. He stood there, at the edge of the city, staring at the horizon as though something-someone-was about to cross it. His twin sister’s words still echoed in his mind, a cruel whisper in the night. “This is a path you must walk alone.” It was as if she had pulled away from him, her embrace slipping through his fingers, and now, even with the distance between them, Aether could still feel her presence lurking at the edge of his thoughts. Snowman by Sia seemed to hum quietly in the back of his mind. The words felt too real: “I’m gonna tell him that I don’t wanna live, I’m not made for this world…” But Aether wasn’t sure if it was her voice he was hearing, or his own. The thought of confronting the truth about the Abyss, of facing everything that his sister had said about the world, was unbearable. He had no choice but to keep going-alone. But there was something else, something pulling him back to the here and now. Maybe it was the whisper of the wind, or maybe it was the strange tug of connection he still felt to her, even from this distance. As The World Caves In played softly in his mind-Sarah Cothran's haunting cover weaving through his thoughts like a thread in the dark. He closed his eyes, the weight of the song wrapping around him. "And all that I thought would stay, goes away..." His sister, his twin… what had happened to the bond they once shared? He wasn’t sure if she was still the same person that had laughed with him in their childhood or if the years, the endless pain of the Abyss, had turned her into someone unrecognizable. But in his heart, he knew she was still somewhere inside, hidden beneath the icy layers of anger and betrayal. Aether stood on the edge of the cliff, staring out at the stars, trying to grasp at a sliver of hope. His hand trembled slightly as the wind picked up, a cold rush in the air. “And though you’re gone, you’re still my light,” the lyrics of Line Without A Hook drifted into his mind, a soft ache in his chest. He could feel her-the presence of his twin, so far away. The connection, the bond. It was a thread he couldn’t sever. "But I’m no good without you, I’m no good without you…" But he had to keep going, for both of them. His mission, their shared past-it wasn’t something he could simply abandon. Not now. Not when there was so much left to understand. He had to walk this path, this road of solitude, until the truth finally made itself clear. The sun began to rise, casting pale pink and gold over the horizon. The darkness of the night was slipping away, but Aether felt no less lost. He stared ahead, uncertainty heavy in his chest. But deep down, something shifted. The weight of the world could not crush him-not when the stars still shone above. The journey would not be easy, but it was one he had to take. For the truth. I want to imagine that the abyssal twin had a reason to keep our twin in the dark. Like they traveled everywhere with their sibling, no mention of parents or how old the were. The sibling must know them best, right? Maybe the know the traveler will only act irrationally to save them or get back to them, etc, and get killed or ruin their plan to exact their survival. I also think traveler is slowly growing hopeless and may be on the brink of a mental breakdown. I also have a theory since we've met and helped so many people, and saved every nation we've been to, making friends with the gods, I believe that the cryo Archon will try to summon the unknown god or become her with all of the gods gnosis together, creating the black blocky masses, and as we fight for Teyvat, the cryo Archon will threaten our siblings life and the friends we made along the way and those who owe us favors, etc, will all come together to have something similar to another Archon war and beat the unknown god, getting our sibling to safety. But then again mihoyo really doesn't like to give us happy endings and thinking about everything I believe somehow we will "die" and be resurrected in our siblings shoes in khanriah and play as them or end up in Celestia fighting to get to our sibling or with our sibling to put a stop to the corruption. I have no idea but I'm pretty sure the architecture in Celestia will feel like bioshock infinite in a way lol

It's sad went you realize the Traveller in Inazuma is getting depressed and desperate to find their sibling. Traveller in the main story even declined helping everyone but ended up helping them. The more i look into the Traveller's feelings, I see them slowly broken down in pieces. It's sad and i see them getting tired of all this missed leads, I wish that something can cheer them up.

Like we (the traveler in all forms) desperately chase after our sibling, so willing to do anything that might get in the way, and people be like "Oh welcome to my nation, we have problems, we're on the brink of war and you must fight it for us, for no return at all." The first time they rejected the stupid shit people ask them to do, I feel so relieved. If they keep at it in this pace, just being everyone's errand person, I'm afraid it won't be a funny joke anymore when we finally snap. At least... I dunno, treat the traveler like the desperate sibling they are, not someone you can welcome to solve your problems and then kick out when it's all done? Back to the lore, Amber did try to help but was it enough? Nope the Knights of Favonious didn't even bother to apply some extra help to Traveller after saving the City of Freedom like those missing person poster will help effectively, they could at least send out a search team or something that show afford and how grateful they are to Traveller. Instead the Traveller found their sibling by Dainsleif help (well more like his quest). Sadly, the man who lead us the the other half of the traveller is gone without us following behind.
If i were them, i be a bit selfish too and want to stick to the original plan of the adventure.

The abyss siblings decision about leaving the traveler in the dark really did (and still does) grate on my nerves, but in truth we really can't blame them for what they've done. In their situation they've seen so much but perhaps not the full picture. Given on the few lines of dialogue we get from them it seems as though they've traveled across Teyvat many, many years ago. So while yes, there could have been a point in time that Teyvat, it's archon's, and it's people were just as villainous as they're depicted to be by the sibling, who's to say they haven't changed?
I'm not saying the abyss sibling made the right choice- because honestly it was a callous and cruel one- but in order for the traveler to really understand both sides and eventually the truth of this world, this is definitely a journey that they need to take alone.
I completely agree!! Initially, I was irritated and upset at our sibling for leaving us (in the 'We Will Be Reunited' quest) like that, but the more I thought about it, I realised that we truly know nothing about this world. It's a whole lot of grey in terms of perspectives - everyone believes they're doing the right thing for themselves/the world/the 'best' outcome. We can only form a proper opinion once we've heard all sides, seen all perspectives and experienced everything. For us to do that, we have to see this journey through.
'Every journey has its final day. Don't rush.' or 'Though we need not rush, (...) We have always... had enough time' is all we seem to hear. My favourite line in the game however, is actually from Venti at the end of the Mondstadt chapter where he says to the traveller: *'The destination is not everything. So before you reach the end, keep your eyes open. Use the chance to take in the world around you...'* and so any time I find myself longing to progress the story or know all the answers to this world, I think back to that. :)

Well to be fair, the citizens of Teyvat didn't really do anything to Kanriah, they weren't even alive none of it is their fault.
However if it turns out that the Archons did horrible acts/war crimes then I don't think they should be left off with just "they changed".

from my reaction seeing both twins' reaction on the traveler's perspective. Aether siding with the abyss and leaving Lumine is like he is genuinely sorry for Lumine on his facial expressions, he seemed hesitant but still sided with the abyss. While Lumine siding with the abyss hits different. As an Aether main and saw Lumine siding with the abyss first, Lumine's expressions felt more painful to look at than aether's version. Both versions still hurts like a truck

Lumine's expression is more like a villain than has suffered from her travels, while aether is just angry. I like to think that aether was made like this to be the Canon traveler, while lumine (also by the color of her clothes) was made to be the Canon abyss princess

Seeing Lumine siding with the abyss and Aether's desparation, and the utter shock of betrayal/heartbreak on his face really made me sad when I watched the quest again after playing it.
I was just shocked by the lore dump that happened in that moment, that I couldn't pay attention to anything. But damn...
This quest wasn't too sad or outright traumatic, but it was still sad nonetheless.
Update: Remembered how we met, told in the replies. Thank you for the wishes, it often brought me back here and I'm grateful. :)
Funny story with the third song, As The World Caves In. I had a friend in Genshin, who actually lives far away from me. We met by chance, I don't remember how anymore, but also by chance, I main Lumine, and they main Aether. Often, we would sit together in each other's teapot. We have special spots made for one another, and one day they told me that they made a place just for me, while listening to this song. So I opened the song, we went to the place, it looks like a stargazing hill although it's in the adeptus abode eternal sunlight terrain, and had a conversation. I made a spot under the tree, facing the sea just for them. We can't meet anymore. So I sit alone there. Thinking of the past. It feels sort of fitting, with all the times we adventure together. They'd always use Aether and I use Lumine. It feels like we really were siblings. And now, we are separated too.
We used different characters' avatar before, but when we knew we can't meet anymore, they used Aether's. And I use Lumine's. It was a sweet gesture. Genshin really gave me a lot. Even an unexpected bond.

Thanks to the people who replied with kind messages. I remembered now, we met when the friend of mine entered my world and started playing the Moonlike Smile (Dragonspine song) with the lyre. I've always wanted to be greeted like that when I saw the nice Albedo mains videos, so it made me so happy. I had to stop playing Genshin after a while, so I told them. We went to my fav spot which was next to the inactive Ruin Guard in Stormterror's Lair as Lumine and Aether, and they played the same song for me for the last time. We haven't met since, but I can't believe I got to experience something like this. So I remember them still. They're like the Golden Apple Archipelago we once explored together - temporary, but forever in my heart. I know you won't see this Bun, but I'm now world 8 just like you. My Barbara's stronger, too. I have a 5* sword now, just like you. My name's still Bunli because of you. Thank you for the memories.

I didn't know about that Ningguang voicelines, and oh god it's so true. It's so tragic. They all pretend to care for Traveler and throw them away when their problems are solved. Nobody knows when they were born. Nobody cared to ask how they feel. They offer help only to get something in return, and that hurts. Imagine just how lonely Aether/Lumine is in such a world, and for moments like these... I'm glad for the existence of them three, especially Paimon. Stupid, weak, nonsense Paimon... But with a heart as big as the universe, she's enough. At least, for now. I'm not surprised if traveler ends up breaking. At this pace it's expected.

Aether as the Abyssal Royal may seem cold, but there's something in their eyes that say "I wish for this to end, I wish I could drop this and come home with you, but I can't, a lot depends on this, I love you but this comes first" and Lumine as the Abyssal Royal looks and sounds cold, they care for their sibling their eyes say "My war with destiny will finish, even if it means I'd have to fight you"*

Every hope, dream, aspiration she had with him had gone. The Archons were right, as wrong as she wanted them to be.
'W-why.. why did you choose them.. why. Why WHY WHY?!' She screamed, suddenly lunging in front.

Once again she was knocked down with a simple block. She let out a scream of frustration, as the tears continued to fall down. A cold hand met her cheek, as she slowly looked up, locking eyes with those once familiar, gentle brown eyes. Her body felt weak, she was so tired of fighting the one she was meant to protect, the one she loved most.
'Why, Aether. Why didn't you choose me?..'
As the cold blade plunged into her, blood coughed out of her mouth, slowly dripping down her chin.

Those words had wounded her harder than anything had ever hurt her. As her body, now limp and lifeless, collapsed onto the floor, Aether sighed.
He had won, but at what cost?

Her brother dashed forward with the intent to kill, but she just relaxed and stood there sword fully relaxed.

The survivors created an organization, lead by hatred. They had one goal: get revenge on the gods and take over the continent of Teyvat.
500 years later, this goal is still in mind.
Lumine gripped the handle of her sword. She stared at the person before her. Light blonde hair styled in a braid, golden eyes. They looked identical.
“Lumine?”
She was set aback by his words. It’s been so long since her name came out of his mouth.
“Lumine, I’ve finally found you! Let’s go home!”
The cheer in his voice physically hurt her.
“No.” Lumine muttered. She locked eyes with him. “I can’t leave, Aether.”
“What do you mean you can’t leave?”
“The abyss is my duty now. I have to do what’s right.”
His eyes filled with dread. “The abyss is trying to overrule Teyvat! They are the enemy!” He paused, making his voice softer. “Are you working with the abyss?” Tears started to form in his eyes.
“I have already travelled through this world once. I’ve seen people slowly corrupt, gods slowly turn. The gods can’t be trusted. They destroyed the nation of Khaenri’ah! I need revenge!” Her voice began to tremble. “I’m not letting you stop me.”
Aether couldn’t utter a word. The peace and hope in his sisters eyes was gone. She was now a stranger to him. The person he was most close to, was now the complete opposite.
“Leave, Aether!” She asserted. “I won’t hesitate to kill you here and now!” She held up her sword, already stained red of blood.
Aether backed up. A tear ran down his face.
A portal formed behind Lumine. She turned around, walking through it. She never looked back.
In the blink of an eye, she was gone.
Aether promised that one day they would be reunited. But you can’t reunite with a complete stranger...
When I finished the quest, I didn't feel broken or burst into tears, but I just felt sorry for the main character

Lmao 4 months late, but I really like the fact that her face is cut off. No, not because I hate her or anything like that, I love Paimon, but it’s like she’s not there to see what’s happening, in fact, nobody’s there to see what’s happening. It’s just Lumine staring at Aether, shocked and betrayed, with Aether smiling back. A sad, pained smile, but a smile nonetheless. After all this time they’ve been separated, Aether insists Lumine wait just a _little_ longer. But it’s been so long, nobody knows it’s been so long. Everyone Lumine has met and helped, they don’t know how long she’s waited for this one moment just to see him again, at least once more. Barely any single person attempted to help her find Aether. In the end, it was like she was all alone. Nobody really cared about her goal. Even when she made it clear, they all somehow found a way to bend around it and use her. Now, seeing her one mission walking away from her, telling her “soon, but just not now.”, she truly is alone.

when i see aether with those creature, i litterally have a mental breakdown for like 2 day, questioning about everything
I don't care at this point, I just wanna find the other sibling again. I chose Lumine, so listening to Aether's voice lines and then listening to Lumines of RUclips you notice a real difference. Aether is obviously done with the Abyss, he's tired and he wants to just go home. But lumine is determined and seeks revenge. And she won't stop even if Aether gets in the way. But accounting on how our sibling is the enemy, we will most likely end up hurting them to save this world, even if it throws our own state down the gorge. I do like drama in games, it makes it more fun. But please, DONT MAKE US KILL OUR TWIN PLEASE 😭

ugh yall actually got to the part of the quest where u see the other twin when I'm struggling with enemies ( A ruin hunter ( Idk, a ruin that flies) Hillichurls and two abyss mages and i am trying to get better artifacts for my characters ✋😫)
I had trouble with that too. ;;; What I did is I let the enemies follow me away from the ruin guard and defeated them leaving the ruin guard alone and finished them off using a bow user and then whoever is my strongest unit. I hope this helps you though; good luck!!!

I was having a hard time too with this quest until I lowered the world level and after that I could be them easily!

As a Lumine Mc player, this playlist made me almost cry. Great work! Lol
Flames engulf the scene. The ashes of Monstadt beneath their feet, the people scattered about the tainted land, wounded or dead. Jean, Kaeya, Amber, Diluc - all of them. And within Lumine's arms, lay the very thing that caused this all. Her family, her best friend, her *brother*. Aether.
She cradles him gently, her body involuntarily rocking back and forth as she copes with the traumatic battle; the death of her own blood. Her sobs started small, scratching the back of her throat as she tries to swallow the lump forming even bigger.
This isn't how it should have ended. No... Aether should have been able to go home. She wanted to bring him to the tavern once she found him, sharing an apple cider over a much needed catch-up. She wanted to show him the bustling city of Liyue and all of the friends he made there. She wanted to relax with him on the peak of Mount Yougou, overlooking the beautiful landscapes of Inazuma.
Was it worth it, Aether? You toppled the nation of the wind and decimated their god, and for what? Only to die before your plan was complete? Or to betray your sibling, dying at her sword with the small ghost of a smile? Muttering the words, "thank you, Lumine." before taking your last breath? Was this what you wanted?
A strangled scream of pure anguish tore through Lumine's throat as she leans over his dead body, pulling him closer to her as blood continues to empty from his wounds. That smile was still there on his face, taunting her. This wasn't fair. The tears burned her blood-soaked skin, reminding her of all that she lost. Without her brother, she has no reason to keep forward.
This was simply the end of the line.

The way I chose Lumine in the game and saw this hurts me😭
Because I'm sad heres a quick POV to cheer my self up with reverse comfort. Basically comforting the traveler ( theres hints at spoilers, but overall nothing really, it's mostly just about travellers sibling, but it doesnr spoil what happened to them):

" You outta care more for your self." They seemed to freeze in place as you also stopped your walking with your own annoying companion.
You companion and Paimon gave you both confused looks before huffing and going off to go find something.
The traveler glared st the ground there feet starting to try and destroy it. You budge your own foot against theres. Then looked up at you and you heard them gulp. Casting their gaze back down to the dirt in the grass they start tracing something. With their foot ofcourse. You looked at it and soon realised they were drawing their sibling.
" You miss them-" You cleared your throat at your stupid sentance and then resaid your sentance "-No I know that. You want your home back not this opera show."
They tensed but kept drawing their sibling. Adding the desgihns and their hair slightly falling over their face as they looked down. A smile without the genuine wrinkle was on their face.
" Maybe there looking for you the same way...? They are strong." You moved their hair out of their face to get a clear look at their face.
A single tear fell down their face.
It was that bad, huh?
Not full on crying, but just a bit.
There pupils seemed to be shaking a bit as they were shivering themselves. Without risking a second you slanked your arm over their shoulder and pulled them into you.
They still didnt say anything, but you felt their hand slightly grip your skirt/pants/shorts.
"Is it worth it?" You heard then faintly murmer.
If it werent for them being so close to you, your not sure you would hear.
"Their out there. Watching over you probably." You whispered into their ear as you tightened the hug on them.
You glanced at the hill in the corner of your eye. Somebody was there and you knew it.
" You'll feel it Lumine/Aether." They buried their head into the crook of your neck and all of sudden you felt water there.
" mm....th... th....thankyou." they whispered
You let out a sigh and then used your hand to ruffle their hair.
" No worrys...." You then looked back to the moutian as the presence you felt before vanished
"Please see them soon."
the bough keeper world quest is sitting untouched and i plan to keep it that way

When they reunite, Lumine's expression is more like a villain than has suffered from her travels, while Aether is just angry. I like to think that aether was made like this to be the Canon traveler, while lumine (also by the color of her clothes) was made to be the Canon abyss princess

i know a lot of people who would chose to go against the sibling and stay in teyvat because of how much they love everyone. but i would chose to pick the sibling, if i were given the choice. from the very beginning, all that aether/lumine ever wanted was to find their sibling. while they did meet amazing people along the way, the twins are bounded bt blood. when you think about it, their story is heartbreaking. the chosen sibling meets their other half, just for them to walk away. they are left all alone, for the second time, and they long for their sibling even more. all i want at the end of the story, at the end of our journey, at the end of it all, is for the twins to be back together again and happy. that is my wish.

Like the atmosphere or something when there something warm or happy I imagine a sunkissed image that smell like.. uh.. freshly made warm food or when it's sad or just a mood where you feel so relaxed like you just feel so sleepy I imagine a misty gray foggy forest that smell the way it smells after the rain idk how to say it but I feel so nice when something gives me the feelings ya know?
As someone whos halfway thru the Vison hunt quest. The separation in the travellers eyes as Teppi is injured and others are just being hurt or worse, they are slowly losing the want to help. It’s heartbreaking
Ok this is my theory, Ik it’s kinda dumb but:
Aether/Lumine woke up before Traveler, and since we don’t know how long before, Lumine/Aether probably did everything we did and more, And I think the unknown god controls time. So when we meet, Is when the times line up. But instead of Paimon as their guide, Dain was theirs. I think when we first encountered the unknown god, we were in khaenri'ah. Explaining why traveler remembers it.

The cold wind whipped through Mondstadt’s streets, carrying with it the faintest trace of winter. Luminescent snowflakes danced in the air, settling on the stone walls of the city, but it felt like nothing would ever settle within Aether. He stood there, at the edge of the city, staring at the horizon as though something-someone-was about to cross it.
His twin sister’s words still echoed in his mind, a cruel whisper in the night. “This is a path you must walk alone.”
It was as if she had pulled away from him, her embrace slipping through his fingers, and now, even with the distance between them, Aether could still feel her presence lurking at the edge of his thoughts.
Snowman by Sia seemed to hum quietly in the back of his mind. The words felt too real: “I’m gonna tell him that I don’t wanna live, I’m not made for this world…”
But Aether wasn’t sure if it was her voice he was hearing, or his own. The thought of confronting the truth about the Abyss, of facing everything that his sister had said about the world, was unbearable. He had no choice but to keep going-alone.
Hours passed, the weight of that lonely silence pressing heavier on his shoulders. The stars above began to glimmer with a bitter sadness. Drift Away, that cover by Mars Bars, tugged at him, whispering that it might just be easier to float away, to leave everything behind. It could be so simple, just… disappear.
But there was something else, something pulling him back to the here and now. Maybe it was the whisper of the wind, or maybe it was the strange tug of connection he still felt to her, even from this distance. As The World Caves In played softly in his mind-Sarah Cothran's haunting cover weaving through his thoughts like a thread in the dark.
He closed his eyes, the weight of the song wrapping around him. "And all that I thought would stay, goes away..."
His sister, his twin… what had happened to the bond they once shared? He wasn’t sure if she was still the same person that had laughed with him in their childhood or if the years, the endless pain of the Abyss, had turned her into someone unrecognizable. But in his heart, he knew she was still somewhere inside, hidden beneath the icy layers of anger and betrayal.
Aether stood on the edge of the cliff, staring out at the stars, trying to grasp at a sliver of hope. His hand trembled slightly as the wind picked up, a cold rush in the air.
“And though you’re gone, you’re still my light,” the lyrics of Line Without A Hook drifted into his mind, a soft ache in his chest.
He could feel her-the presence of his twin, so far away. The connection, the bond. It was a thread he couldn’t sever. "But I’m no good without you, I’m no good without you…"
But he had to keep going, for both of them. His mission, their shared past-it wasn’t something he could simply abandon. Not now. Not when there was so much left to understand.
He had to walk this path, this road of solitude, until the truth finally made itself clear.
The sun began to rise, casting pale pink and gold over the horizon. The darkness of the night was slipping away, but Aether felt no less lost. He stared ahead, uncertainty heavy in his chest.
But deep down, something shifted. The weight of the world could not crush him-not when the stars still shone above. The journey would not be easy, but it was one he had to take. For the truth. For her.
The last song echoed faintly in his mind, “old enough to understand… but still just lost enough to care…”
He wasn’t sure if the words applied to him or to his twin. But one thing was certain-he wouldn’t stop until he had the answers, no matter how long it took.
For the twin he once knew. For the twin he still loved.

I want to imagine that the abyssal twin had a reason to keep our twin in the dark. Like they traveled everywhere with their sibling, no mention of parents or how old the were. The sibling must know them best, right? Maybe the know the traveler will only act irrationally to save them or get back to them, etc, and get killed or ruin their plan to exact their survival. I also think traveler is slowly growing hopeless and may be on the brink of a mental breakdown. I also have a theory since we've met and helped so many people, and saved every nation we've been to, making friends with the gods, I believe that the cryo Archon will try to summon the unknown god or become her with all of the gods gnosis together, creating the black blocky masses, and as we fight for Teyvat, the cryo Archon will threaten our siblings life and the friends we made along the way and those who owe us favors, etc, will all come together to have something similar to another Archon war and beat the unknown god, getting our sibling to safety. But then again mihoyo really doesn't like to give us happy endings and thinking about everything I believe somehow we will "die" and be resurrected in our siblings shoes in khanriah and play as them or end up in Celestia fighting to get to our sibling or with our sibling to put a stop to the corruption. I have no idea but I'm pretty sure the architecture in Celestia will feel like bioshock infinite in a way lol
theory : since lumine is working with the abyss now and our enemy is the abyss what if we end up killing lumine?
