Who are the 6 tone deaf people who don't know what good music is??? This is one of the best songs that Marillion has released ever! Loved it when they played it in Chicago, love it even more now!

    • @Mr.Wrong1
      @Mr.Wrong1 7 дней назад

So if a person doesn't like what you like they must be tone deaf? STFU.
Music either appeals to you or it doesn't.
      Simple.

I can’t stop listening to this bass line. Especially in the middle section where it mellows down, “The way I love you” Pete Trewavas is so melodic and has great groove. I had a great time hanging out with him a few times. Super fun guy...

Some Marillion tracks are slow burners and some resonate instantly...for me, Power falls into the latter category. It's a gorgeous, rich, soulful track with an intense and emotional conclusion. While not like any specific Marillion song, it's typical Marillion in terms of each band member as an integral ingredient that coalesces perfectly to create pure magic!

Marillion is making their music. Not what you want them to do. That makes them even better.

Hands down their best song. Captures everything I love about the band. Huge credit to putting out such a masterpiece this far into their careers where so many other artists have long since dried up.

Fantastic as always they are! This song touches deeply you heart and take you into another dimension.
Since the very first beginning of the band, in the early 80, they have been producing wonderful songs and simply they found the way to improve and reinvent themselves along these 30 years.
    Hail to the real KINGS!!!

Something special here, and even better when performed live. Really magical during their first Cropredy performance a few years back, and a spine- tingling moment when it started to rain just at the end of the song. Such a pity it wasn't filmed. You had to be there.

    You carry me around
    Like loose change jingle janglin'
At the bottom of your bag
You don't seem to feel it though
Because you swing down the street
Walking that unique birthday candle glow
In broad daylight, in broad daylight
    And you don't even know
    The way I love you
You never knew power until you
You thought that power was this scar
People pass the laws in gold
    Seen our needs, emotional parts
    Oh baby, that's nothing
You think it's kind of sweet
The stammer and the tremble in my voice
But don?t mistake it for weakness
    Or some kind of incompleteness
    'Cause round about now
I can feel it tingle tanglin'
    It's coiled up inside me
    And it?s ready to blow
You never knew power until you
You saw it fizzed in the over-head lines
Burning steel are borne to currents
    Satisfied the vertical pylons
You never knew power until you
Saw it roll like a head with thoughts
Or melting stone, a new volcano
    Earthquake, thunder, lightning, stars
    The way I love you
    Is something you don't understand
    The way I love you
Took more than I could imagine, even now
    You never knew how hard
All the time you felt so strong
    But now you can't function
    The wave of a sleeve
    Is the meaningless slew
    Falls away from your feet
    And the Universe uses
    It's light, streaming free
Life will scream in the meteor shower
    Of this guided light
    Where you sparkle and fail
    From heavens fell
    Take each guiding light
In in every hour, in every hour
    I know the power, power
    Listen to me
    My feelings tremble
    Am I feeling?
Songwriters: Corey Woods / Sean Kelly / Thaddeus Birkert / Delmar Coward / Jamel Faheeh Cummings / Bruce Mayfield

Because half of these lyrics are wrong, I'm posting the AZlyrics version, which is much more accurate:
      You carry me around
      Like loose change jingle-jangling
At the bottom of your bag
You don't seem to feel it though
As you swing down the street
      Walking that unique birthday-candle glow
      In broad daylight
      In broad daylight
      And you don't even know
      The way I love you
You never knew power, did you?
You thought that power was in a strong arm
People pass the laws and gold
      Tsunamis and mushroom clouds
      Oh babe that's nothing
You think it's kind of sweet
The stammer and the tremble in my voice
But don’t mistake it for weakness
      Or some kind of incompleteness
      'Cause round about now
      I can feel it tingle-tangling
      It's coiled up inside me
      And it’s ready to blow
You never knew power, did you?
Thought it fizzed in the overhead lines
Burning steel and bone to carbon
      A Saturn-5 in a vertical climb
You never knew power, did you?
Thought it roared like Niagara Falls
      Or melted stone under volcanoes
      Earthquake, thunder, lightning, storms
      The way I love you
      Is something you don't understand
      The way I love you
Took more than I could imagine, even now
      You never knew power
All the time you felt so strong
      But now you can't function
      Awake or asleep
As the meaningless world falls away from your feet
And the Universe ceases its light-speed retreat
Life was sweet in the meteor shower
      Of the star-high divine
      When you sparkled and fell
      From heaven to hell
And ten years grinding by in every hour
      In every hour
      I know all about power
      Listen to the rain
      You might feel a tremble
      You might feel it

The curse of any band which has had two eras, such as Marillion have, is to have the past blur the present. In my humble opinion, I think we just ought to recognize Marillion and Fish separately for what they are today. It's been 23 years and 13 studio albums...

Have been quietly into Marillion since my wife got me into them when I met her 20 years ago. But it wasn't until 2008 that I completely and utterly fell in love with them!
Well you've done it again lads. You continue to astound me, and I'm so glad I finally managed to be part of the pre order malarky this time around.
Can't wait for the new album, and I can't wait to see you guys in Cardiff.

I am in agreement with some here, needs the guitar solo higher in the mix. I saw them in Boston where they played Power. Great live...but turned to my buddy at the end and said they left the guitar solo on the cutting room floor. Live it so needed that emotional punch that only Steven Rothery can provide. Good song though, can't wait to hear the new album.

I'm not sure I agree with you. This song is nothing like 80's music at all. Listen to Ultravox, Wham, Duran Duran and Talk Talk and then tell me how Marillion compare to any of these.
If any bands are starting to hark back to the 80's, I'd point to Muse. It's not necessarily a bad thing either.

it's hard to compare or even compete for that matter the creative talents of Marillion & Fish. Both are phenomonal and to be biased to one camp or the other is crazy. Fish left in 1988....it is 2012....the divorce is final.
