That use to be a huge drunken party mess on the weekends. I haven’t been there since my kids were little (20+ years?) but it looks like you were there at a great time. Really nice video.
I am jealous, wish I was camping. I miss the northern tier. I was station at Minot ND for 8 years. It was so nice during camping season. I am now in Georgia and it is so hot here. I still camp and run the heck out of the AC. I love watching your videos
If it's to be done at Itasca, we've done it. Some highlights: daughter got married at Forest Inn, saw eclipse from fire tower, got poison ivy, attacked by raccoons, trapped in screen tent by deer flies, stayed in a Bear Paw cabin, stayed in a room at Douglas Lodge, stayed at Bert's Cabins, spent time talking to CCC reunion guys at the Brower Center. We've done closing weekend when possible for over 25 years.
Looks like you guys had a great time. That headwaters area is WAY smaller than I remember. Think that was our last major stop on a 2 week Boy Scout trip back in early 80's. We went through Illinois, Michigan, Niagara Falls New York, up into and across Canada and came back down into Minnesota. Crazy that that trip was 40 years ago this year.
You could make an argument for Mary Lake, too. There's a creek that runs from Mary and comes out below Douglas Lodge. The outflow is significant enough that the beaver placed branches while I was there over July 4 weekend.
Nothing beats summer up North. So wholesome.
Agreed

I’ll probably never get the opportunity to travel to this part of the country … it’s so beautiful-I had no idea! Thanks for sharing! 😊
What a fun trip!! We have a travel trailer and I love taking it out! It is my happy place
It was a ton of fun. So thankful for these little family trips. Definitely a happy place

@user-qo5hh9bw4w I spent a lot of time at Itasca in my 20s (I'm in my 60's now), so I know what you're feeling. It's a great place!!

Thank you for joining me. 😊

I think where Elk lake goes into lake Itasca is the actual headwaters, but that's debatable.

Being noisy, wondering if the kids in your video are yours are niece and nephew?
Wonderful video…I love seeing a family outdoors doing fun things together!🤗🌲☀️🚣🏻♂️
Thank you, it means a lot!
