  • This famous model is based on the Super Meccanograph of Dr. ir. A. H. Boerdijk. More here meccanokinemati... and below.
The original has been developed and built in the early 1960's. After 1990 the Super Meccanograph was more or less lost out of sight. By the mid of 2007, research done by Meccano Kinematics led to the tracking of this model.
In the latter part of 2007 a replica was built and in January 2008 a computermodel in VirtualMEC was generated, based on the replica.
All of this has resulted in the making of Modelplan 182.
At the beginning of 2014, 2 gearhead motors were substituted by steppermotors, worldwide available. As per 2022 (so long after uploading this vid), the stepperdrivers for the steppermotors have been substituted by TMC drivers 2208. The machine is now operating very silent and the video doesn't do justice regarding the noise level.

Absolutely impressive, beautiful, and fascinating! I hope to do one of these some day, of my own design, something simplistic with no computer board. Your creations are incredible.

This machine has no computer on board, but is fully mechanical.

@@Meccanokinematics Oh, the website must have mislead me. It refers to using an Arduino board?

@@meccanoman Correct, but the Arduino merely drives 2 steppermotors.

The original model made by dr. Boerdijk is currently part of the collection of the OYFO technical museum in Hengelo the Netherlands

Bravo. Cordialement. M.

The latest improvement to this machine is substituting the old drivers by tmc 2226 silent drivers. The result is a very silent running machine without any vibrations.

I thinkyou just want to show off how many I-inch gears you have! 😁😁 Seriously, that's a great model. Congratulations.

I am using tmc 2208 drivers now. The machine is absolutely silent. Speed of the geartrain is not very fast either.
