    • @stephenjames4937
      @stephenjames4937 6 лет назад +35

      Personally, I didn't have a problem with that, if only because messing about with synthesisers can indeed be all about discovering new aspects of the instrument, and they know more than I do.
      I do think, though, that these gentlemen could try to strike the happy medium between being (a) engaging and funny and (b) a bit wearing. Still, they are not professional presenters, they are enthusiastic shop employees, and one trusts that, as time goes on, they'll get it down pat. Good luck to them; there are many worse people competing for our attention on RUclips.

    I think it's important to mention that the Neutron can sound way more cleaner if you patch it. You can bypass the overdrive circuit by patching.

    • @shaft9000
      @shaft9000 5 лет назад +7

      @@cmikecs It can do waaaay more with patching, because patching overrides the 'normalled' (internal) pre-arranged connections, so you can re-arrange the Neutron's own voice architecture however you want.
      AND you can also use other compatible (in 1/8" unbalanced patch connector format such as Eurorack) synths to bring external control-voltages(CV) and trigger&pulses(gates). You can to use it directly with other CV gear in an 'open architecture' fashion, and so possibilities become ridiculously vast. You'll find a 'CV' and 'GATE' input jacks on most analog synths of every era. The vintage ones (and certain newer synths) often have 1/4" jacks, so a coupling adapter or 1/4"-to-1/8" cable is needed to use them with this.
      The operative limits become a)your imagination, b) free space-time and c) bank account.
      But just simply adding an analog step-sequencer (like a Doepfer Dark Time) along side the Neutron can do MANY musically useful and also strange things.

    Companies like Roland had every opportunity to reissue and update gear like the TR-808. Instead they gave us digital modeling SHITE that nobody asked for. Then Uli said, "I can make that... and I can make it inexpensively because of modern surface-mount manufacturing techniques. The public said "yes, please" and Roland said "meh, why bother."
    Uli's racking up a small fortune from people who WANT analog while Roland is farming out analog to small boutique companies and stamping their brand on it. I loved Roland in the 80's. But now it seems like the kids or grandkids are running the show and could give a f-all about what people want.

Uli is "inspired", let´s say, in the hard work of many other engineers and companies who have invested a lot in creating wonderful devices. If Roland doesn´t have the marketing vision of renewing their strategies..,. that shouldn´t allow anyone to copy their designs piece by piece, without any kind of shame or remorse.

    • @shaft9000
      @shaft9000 5 лет назад +5

      Hehe....I'm sure he'd at least messed with some early Moog, ARP or EMS. By 1969 Pete Townshend, George Harrison and Mick Jagger each had acquired big ARP or Moog systems ... that almost nobody understood how to use very effectively yet. Mick soon sold his Moog to Tangerine Dream and the rest is history :O).
      I've heard at least a dozen Hendrix outtake records and all the publicly known/unfinished 1stRotNRS tracks and sessions.
      But unfortunately I still haven't heard any recordings of Jimi playing a synth or even with someone else on synth in a jam. I don't think that he ever got the chance to take the time off to get familiar with such a complicated proposition.

      @@jackduxburymusic yea, sorry if I was over harsh, perhaps outa hand... I listened to it quite late but your work is really important... I respect your easy response and urge a more stoic approach. However, each to one's own and some like the goofy element, but I found it overbearing and overly animated. We are in an age where cheap analogue can open doors for the discerning bedroom producer. Peace returned

    I gave a thumbs down because your video title is misleading. This is not a synth shootout but rather a behringer neutron exposé.
