      That is exactly why it got stopped. No one believed in him, that he could beat Belfort, but he took all of Bowes punches, Lewis punches, Moorer's & Tyson's, but because of his age and a concern on social media, he wasn't afforded the same right as a 29 year old with a quarter of his talent.

    Holyfield just can't handle the truth and admit he's too old for this. I was expecting this to be more like Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr exhibition fight but Vitor didn't show much respect for grandpa Holyfield in the ring. Personally I don't want Holyfield to do that exhibition with Mike Tyson anymore.

      You’re not supposed to hold back in the ring. You’re fighting that person. And the odds were 60/40 Vitor/Holyfield, Holyfield is levels ahead of Vitor in boxing. It wasn’t a fair fight but the skill makes up for it.

    God bless him! He’s a legend! Good hearted person! I respect Vitor for not hurting him. I think Holyfield is disappointed. But it is what it is! 58 years young and held up to a MMA fighter. I don’t know of any 58 year old that would fight a younger MMA fighter. Holyfield is brave!

    This fight should’ve never happened, but this was definitely a premature stoppage. As a former boxer, I can tell you that sometimes it takes a round or two to get settled, into a rhythm. Add that ring rust, a lefty fighting a right handed (feet get tangled often, or you step in someone’s foot). I wish they would’ve let the round finish, and see how the second round developed.

      Off ten years, and an eight day camp? He was never even close to hurt. He was pushed and then Vitor threw a lot of baby punches to the arms. That was the worst call i have ever seen! Give the man a chance. He was biding time is all. He always let fighters throw and then made them pay later. So sad he was cheated of a chance.

    Started following Evander's career when he was cruiserweight and after his classic battle with Foreman he became my favorite boxer of the era, and after his battles with Bowe and Tyson he became my favorite of all time. I was fortunate to watch him live in Atlantic City against Mercer. He was such a special boxer.... one of the all time greats in history! I'm lucky to have lived through '90s era of boxing. It was a golden age for sure.

Point is that there's a reason commission's are in place, it's their job to look after the health of people and make sure they do not compete at any cost if they are not in a good enough condition to defend themselves.     The thing about Holyfield's style is its give and take. He takes a lot of hits and gives a lot. In his heyday his body could keep up but not anymore. If he was younger it wouldn't have been stopped.

    Holyfield was called on at the last minute for this fight and he should have never taken it. His training tape showed nothing but a slow moving spent boxer and the fight was no different then the tape on him. I am sure he could have looked much better then this with a few months of proper training but not to a point of dominating his opponent. He was once noted for a chin of stone but a few half accurate punches sent him down. Someone needs to set him down and tell him it is over. Not worth being remembered going out like this.

      He didn't have time to. They stopped it way to short. Evander didn't look hurt. He certainly didn't look like a feeble old man in there he was in good shape for his age. And he's taken way bigger beatings from pro athletes for years. There was no need to stop it when they did.       I've seen plenty of boxers look bad in the first 30 seconds or 40 seconds of a fight who later turned it around and actually made a decent fight of it old boxers and young boxers. The bottom line is that was stopped way too short. I'm not saying the holyfield looked great I'm not saying that he would have won I'm saying this the fight got stopped before it was a fight and he wasn't getting pummeled. They just wanted to promote the next fight being able to say that he beat the five-time world champ

    He's a legend who fought at the age of 59 against a vitor who is a darn beast. He lost but I wouldn't count it as a real match due to him not being the fighter he was before. In my opinion he shouldn't be eligible to fight at that age.

    Evander’s reflexes, reaction instincts and speed are completely shot after decades of hard pounding on the head … And I loved this guy when he still had his tools working. Vitor aught not celebrate; he looked awful as well; I think the ref stopped the fight out of inactivity from EH, not really because Vitor did anything special; that was about as bad a fight anyone can watch.

    Sadly time catches up with all of us whether you like it or not. Holyfield was one of the greatest heavyweights of all time and looks amazing for his age but he's too slow

    Honestly I think his balance is the problem. He doesn't seem shaken up. just his balance let him down. the man is nearly 60, balance is a major thing that goes near that age.

      Spot on. Power is there, guaranteed. Power is the last thing to go. Balance and movement on the other hand is a different story. I personally think it was stopped a tad too early, but I understand why it was. 58 years old. You think that ref would've stopped a 32 year old covering up like that but not rocked? No. He was protecting an old man. Not just an old man, but an icon.

    Evander fighting at that age is dangerous for his health.
    There are threereason that that he is most like he made this fight.
    1) Broke and need the money.
    2) Ego..thinking he can still fight at his age.
    3) consequences of the two above…does not know how to make a living outside boxing..very sad for a Great Champion that he was.
    And I do not how his people around let him fight..bunch of leaches.
