What do you think of the romance between Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend?

Amazing how rigid and bigoted the Queen Mother was, and how much power she wielded so that ER II didn't dare cross her. Charles got to finally marry his long-time mistress in spite of her being divorced--as was he until Diana died so conveniently.

In light of the fact that the Church of England was established so that Henry VIII could divorce his first wife in order to marry his second, this controversy was not only the height of hypocrisy but also a clear message to all that the monarchy should have been abolished decades ago. Yet, we have queen consort Camilla, Chuck's mistress, about to be "anointed" a short time from now. QE2 stripped Diana of her royal title but gave her blessing for Camilla to be queen. What a farce.

@@onemercilessming1342: “‘She was a natural,’ said Daniel Craig. ‘I was definitely more nervous than she was.’
Lord Janvrin, the Queen’s former private secretary, told me he was sure the Queen wouldn’t have done the [2012 Summer Olympics ‘James Bond’] stunt during the Queen Mother’s lifetime. ‘Why?’ I asked him.
‘Simply because she would have felt her mother wouldn’t have approved - that it would have been a bit undignified.
‘The Queen became less inhibited in several ways after her mother’s death [in 2002], less constrained, more relaxed.’”
      - Excerpt from “Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait” by Gyles D. Brandreth (2022)

This is not the "Woe is me" story that Margaret and the history books made it out to be. Margaret was told that she could marry Peter, but only if she gave up all of her royal priviledges and her place in the succession line. She refused to do that on her own accord, and broke up with Peter instead. SHE MADE THE CHOICE.

The study of royalty is essential to understanding the society, politics, and culture of various countries over time. And, in a time of intense transformations in the world, it is important to remember that the Royal Family continues to play a significant role, both as a cultural symbol and as a political institution. Therefore, a channel dedicated to the study and analysis of the Royal Family is certainly an invaluable source of knowledge and entertainment for those interested in this fascinating topic.

One can't help noticing how strongly Gp Captain Peter Townsend resembled Princess Margaret's recently deceased father George VI

Townsend's book did not detailed his relationship with the Princess, in total reckon it would have been only 5% of it. But they did meet again a couple of times after they broke the engagement. He had flown back to UK under a false name so as not to be detected. It seemed the interest on them died down but when media caught wind of them again, that's when they truly called it quits.

It was a wonderful love affair not spashed all over news papers. Untile the story came out because they wanted to marry Princess Margaret had always been close to the Queen they did everything together after the Queen married she wanted to marry. But they made them wait to long she was not the same when this ended as she loved him very much it was a mutual love. The Public wanted to see them be happy and get married.
