i would like a to learn a more consistent system of translating vowel quality subjective/descriptive terminology into ipa....so i get a better handle of what the hell is going on more of the time....
I hear you, dr Lala. I tend to stay away from learning ipa and just look for another word (or an animal sound) with a similar timbre. I might be lazy, but the creativity that comes from not knowing ipa has really helped me to enjoy teaching! Same thing happens when I write a song on guitar (where I don't read music) compared to writing a song on keys (where I do). The knowledge creates a limitation. Experimentation with imitation is fun!
SAMMMMMN!!! You hear my heart!!! Mariah and ari need to have an album together, first with the whistle notes, and then with the breathy tones my GAWDDDDDD and then JOJO could come in too. Idk
I'm feeling what you said about trying to sound like different singers when we are practicing. I personally like to try out different styles and go for the diva songs, but the truth is my voice just is not suited for Ariana's light timbre. I can probably learn to incorporate some of her techniques into my singing and that would make me way more versatile, but the fact is that my voice is much better suited for jazz, Lady Gaga, Adele, Amy Winehouse. When I'm singing in those styles, that feels easy and that feels "me". But I do like to challenge myself :) That's why I need singing lessons, ha

Our vocal king Sam has reacted to this! I’m so happy now haha! Sam I know you are incredibly busy, I was wondering when you get time if you could react to Kelly Clarkson Underneath the tree live I think it’s one of the best Christmas songs in the past 10 years!
I was never in choir but I was in band and played clarinet for 7 years, so I really enjoy RUclipsrs like you who can talk about the music on a very technical level because I can understand that. Because I find the science itself of music interesting. Really enjoyed your technical analysis. The harmonized whistle tones was quite literally phenomenal.. an anomaly lol. But I love things like that in art and music. Mariah and Ariana are like the Tom Brady of music lol. Like.. their level of ability is practically absurd.
If you listen to the isolated vocals Mariah is actually doing both the F6 and G#6 whistle harmonies on the word “Santa” at the end. Ariana is doing a C#6 (even though you don’t get that impression from the film clip).
"Ariana Grande: Excuse me, I love you" is only on NETFLEX, it her only professionally concert for, The Sweetener World Tour. It has some back stage filming but mostly the concert. It it 90% of the London concert. If you are a fan of Ariana's you must watch it.
Peoples reaction to the harmonized whistle notes reminded me that a lot of people aren’t familiar with Mariah’s entire body of work. She’s done it multiple times but it was cool to hear her do this with another artist.
I love all THREE versions of this song from Mariah. The original 2010 version from Mariah Carey...the 2nd version from the 2015 Hallmark movie ('Christmas Melody') that Mariah produced, directed, and played a supporting acting role in...and this new 2020 version with Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, and Ariana Grande.
Complete agreement on their whistle tone harmonies. I felt like I'd been waiting my whole life for that to happen and Jennifer gotta get her due no matter what.
Jennifer Hudson has the most amazing belts for me. Her voice is remarkably powerful and beautiful, and her existence makes me appreciate that kind of gospel music. Every time she sings, I'm pleasantly surprised. Ariana's voice sounds like a beautiful lullaby. She made me realize I enjoyed pop music, which I'm grateful for. Her whistles are amazing, too. Mariah has the best whistle of course. Her iconic voice along with her iconic Christmas songs. Along with Ariana, she's naturally vocally agile, which is great for the kind of music they sing.

Sooooo funnny!
Yes 😆🌈🌈👍👏👏👏👏👏
This is just another great example of Mariah's expert level producing skills
5:07 we all have that mariah moment 😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
i would like a to learn a more consistent system of translating vowel quality subjective/descriptive terminology into ipa....so i get a better handle of what the hell is going on more of the time....
Definitely with you on the love of the whistle duet! That was the best part of the song and they need to do that numerous times over - crikey!
Literally can't wait for you to react to this!!! I can sleep now 😆😆
SAMMMMMN!!! You hear my heart!!! Mariah and ari need to have an album together, first with the whistle notes, and then with the breathy tones my GAWDDDDDD and then JOJO could come in too. Idk
Yasss! Ive been waiting for your reaction! Merry Christmas 🎄❤️
I've never seen Sam so excited about a react
I'm feeling what you said about trying to sound like different singers when we are practicing. I personally like to try out different styles and go for the diva songs, but the truth is my voice just is not suited for Ariana's light timbre. I can probably learn to incorporate some of her techniques into my singing and that would make me way more versatile, but the fact is that my voice is much better suited for jazz, Lady Gaga, Adele, Amy Winehouse. When I'm singing in those styles, that feels easy and that feels "me". But I do like to challenge myself :) That's why I need singing lessons, ha
react to "my hair" by ariana grande (it´s a new song of her new album called positions) it´s amazing for real
The whistle harmony is EPIC!
I love the look on your face when they hit the whistle tone harmony 🤣🤣 amazing!
I think that including tags of concepts and techniques you analyse in the video in the bio will be very helpful to finding the right video one is interested in the most. Love you, and thank you
I loved when Mariah and patty Labelle did a harmony Mariah in whistle and Patti chest voice, that was insane ...!!! Merry Christmas everyone
Jennifer Hudson‘s voice stands out significantly however I love Ariana and Mariah Carey‘s voice I truly think that Jennifer Hudson is underrated I know she doesn’t have a ton of hits but she has an amazing voice
Absolutely amazing!
@@atawbi Well her acting roles isn't anything to write home about. Plus her box office draw is non-existent. While Mariah Carey and Arianna Grande have relevance and mainstream success, something jhud doesn't have.
Would love to see you react to some of Tori Kelly’s recent vocals from her Christmas album! She performed her entire album live on her RUclips! I recommend Joy to the World/ Joyful Joyful which is the second song performed in the live concert! Love the videos Sam!
Finally. I have been waiting for your reaction.
Glad to see you! Even better watching you smile and dancing though the whole song!!! 🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🤶🏻🎅🏼🎄⛄️ Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!! Hearing you sing would be an amazing Christmas present!!!!❤️❄️❤️❄️❤️❄️❤️❄️❤️❄️
Agreed! Please sing!
Mariah whistled the word "night"
I was waiting for Sam to react to this video
Mariah and Ariana harmonizing in whistle register was their Christmas gift to the world.
Yes a whole album of whistle tone harmonies. Amazing.
WHAT A MOOD, I LOVE THAT WHISTLE TONE AND I WANT ONLY WHISTLE HARMONY LOL. YESS!!! You are awesome and I agree with you about that 👍. It really was very well done! Mariah is just A Legend in Music. Period.
Your face was so cute watching them harmonize on that whistle.
that whistle harmony is EVERYTHING omg ♥
Sam, that ad intro is everything! Please react to Mariah's Joy To the World Live at St John The Devine because i wonder how you will dissect that one. Waiting! Much love from Manila
That whistle harmony truly was beautiful
The relaxed thing is true I remember I sang at a Christmas concert last week and I was super relaxed and I was able to sing all my high notes like nothing. Will keep that in mind
Great reaction as always, Sam. Do you think you can analyze Pavarotti singing Ave Maria? I'd like to hear an analysis of his singing from someone with a more formal background in singing.
The whistle harmony made me cry instantly
Merry Christmas, Sam bam
Hi Anna merry Christmas
All I want for christmas *IS the best Christmas song:D
The collaboration we always wanted but wait we got so much more it was amazing.
Love seeing Sam bopping to this!
Harmony whistling is iconic
Omg yes an album of mariah and ari id die from happiness
if this is the number one song for trio of divas..the whistle is now a part of musical notes..very great harmony...thank you mariah ariana and jennifer for this oh santa..u all make the xmas happy
My dream is to have you as my vocal coach
"Ariana Grande: Excuse me, I love you" is only on NETFLEX, it her only professionally concert for, The Sweetener World Tour. It has some back stage filming but mostly the concert. It it 90% of the London concert. If you are a fan of Ariana's you must watch it.
You are the best voice teacher in youtube.
You were so chuffed when the whistle voice harmony came in...
Was that a whistle tone harmony first? And did I hear the word Santa in the whistle note. Can't wait to see & hear them live!
I would love to see you react to Pink's live performance of Glitter in the Air at the 2010 Grammy's!!
Such a good performance.
It was a crazy ass year , so I’m glad sis hit us w/ this remix . It was like dying & going to Heaven 🥺🥲✨🎄
This song makes you really happy
Jennifer Hudson has the most amazing belts for me. Her voice is remarkably powerful and beautiful, and her existence makes me appreciate that kind of gospel music. Every time she sings, I'm pleasantly surprised.
Ariana's voice sounds like a beautiful lullaby. She made me realize I enjoyed pop music, which I'm grateful for. Her whistles are amazing, too.
Mariah has the best whistle of course. Her iconic voice along with her iconic Christmas songs. Along with Ariana, she's naturally vocally agile, which is great for the kind of music they sing.
their whistle notes saved christmas
Really people out here dying.
@@sunshinesunirby7707 why are you on yt then
I absolutely love your channel
