  • I am doing a 100% restoration and remodel on my mansion that was purchased for $7,000. Today I discovered I have a swamp under my house, so I dug a massive trench to drain it.

      I have lived in Ukraine for several years before the Russian war of Genocide of Ukraine and roman is a typical Ukrainian. with one difference, I never seen him drinking Vodka as so many Ukrainians enjoy or Kagor or Mead (Medovukha, меду́ха) wine. Kagor is a very sweet red wine and Mead is Honey wine.

    Cole, after 23 years of business as a window coverings specialist, I have seen my share of stadium style movie theater rooms in high end houses. In every single one of them, there was always a layer of dust on everything from lack of the room being used. Not once did I hear someone say ,”We use this every WEEK!” They are a huge waste of time and money. That being said, you will have a very swanky tornado shelter when it’s finished.

Make it into a social gathering place where the entire great family can hang out and be entertained.

    Replace the gas line. with all the handling it has received, you cannot guarantee it does not have a hole in it or it has weakened and will break later.

    Hi Cole, my wife and I love your approach to every task needed for your restoration.
    With a background in laying gas lines for residential and commercial construction . I was wondering if you might considered laying a 1" - 3/4" black (underground) gas pipe instead of a smaller diameter copper gas line. The black iron pipe will reduce the risk of being punctured or cracked. The black gas line would run from the propane tank to the house with a riser coming out of the ground near the house so you can directly connect the gas regulator.

    • @johnunsicker7440
      @johnunsicker7440 Месяц назад

    Cole you better put socks over your pipe or otherwise the dirt/ clay will seal the perforated pipe holes 🕳️ in time and water will never get in them. So they make pipe socks that's material you slide over those pipes which prevent the holes in pipe from being clogged and sealed with dirt.
    Also be sure you put a cage cap or screen wire over the end of your drain pipe or rodent's or other wild life will build nests & burrow in the pipe and stop it up ! So definitely add a screen wire cap over the end to keep critters out of your drain pipe or otherwise it's useless if they dam up the insides of it .

    I have a spade and it's my favorite tool in the shed as well. It is all one piece of metal, from the handle to the bottom of the spade. It has to be the strongest tool too because I always break the heads off of shovels when the handles are made of wood. They can never keep up with what I can scoop.

    You and Roman are really kicking it and getting to things that could be huge setbacks if you don't tend to them now.
    I admire the work ethics shown and Roman is one amazing fellow. I would love to know his working background and how he learned to do all he does..........I find it totally interesting. He ads so much calm and that really helps when things get going sideways. His personality and calm attitude are very much an asset.
    Be safe, take care and waiting for the next video. 🙂

    I haven't been to the Iowa State Fair in 100 years, I think. Okay, maybe not quite that long ago, but it's been a while. My father actually attended Drake University in Des Moines when he first got out of the Navy at the end of WWII. Later, he was the last graduating class of State College of Iowa at Cedar Falls, which is now University of Northern Iowa.
    Drake is, of course, home to the Drake Relays, which started in 1910, and is one of the most prestigious track-and-field events in the United States. Women's events were first held at Drake in 1961, and the list of Olympic gold medalists who have participated in the relays reads like a Who's Who of world-class athletes.

    One thing to consider when draining the water under the house is the water level of the creek. Does it ever rise when it rains? A drain that far underground should have a check valve installed so that when the water level in the creek rises, it cannot back up into the house. I would actually recommend 2 check valves - one at wall of the house and one near the end of the pipe before it goes into the creek. The reason for the one at the end is to keep debris from the creek clogging the pipe when it floods.

    Before you take out that last short section of basement wall, may I suggest picking up some sandbags and fill them up and have them ready and on stand by in the basement in case you get some big rains.... better safe than sorry, right? Sandbags won't keep all the water out but it'd be better than nothing!

    Ok, perhaps I am stupid, but I don't understand why you are replacing virtually everything in this house top to bottom but you are being so ridiculously careful not to damage the 3/8" gas line feeding the house. Just disconnect it at both ends and drag it out of the ground or abandon it. Your new addition is going to be 50-75 feet closer to your tank anyway. This has been grinding on me for several videos now.
