- How to choose between a Supermoto or a Supersport?
I finally get my hands on the notorious Husqvarna 701 Supermoto, something of a dream bike for me and one which subverted my expectations in both good and bad ways.
Had 2 701's now the suspension is amazing and probably the best thing about the whole bike and i live on bumpy welsh back roads makes me think someone had adjusted the one you rode on to the track settings, normal and comfort are brilliant and really compliant but still handles amazingly, go for it!
That’s really good to know, thank you! My current bike needs to hurry up and sell, but the market seems very slow right now.
Thanks for the review. Really starting to crave one of these bikes. May just end up getting a set of street wheels for my 2023 TE150 instead.
That would be a hoot, two bikes in one!
Yeah, the suspension needs to be dialed in. I was complaining for a very long time until I finally took the time to adjust them more towards comfort and the change isn't like huge, but enough to stop the complaints.
The seat - never had a problem with its firmness. I think it has a lot to do with the weight and geometry of the rider, but I rode 4000 km in 10 days on a stock 701 and because there are different shapes on the seat and you can easily mover around, my bum never gave me grief. Your mileage may vary, of course. Quite a lot of riders have gone for an aftermarket seat or padded the stock one with some gel or something..
Aftermarket exhaust smooths out some of the jerkiness. And removes tons of weight. But makes you smell like an ashtray :D The cat in the exhaust is there for a reason.
I like how they've cleaned up the cockpit on the newer ones. Like the cables that don't just flap around the headlight anymore. And the darkish colour-scheme is cool too.
Also - good luck trying to chill on that bike :D Any time I set out to ride reasonably and just cruise along with the traffic - the second I saw an opening I darted for it and next thing I know I am zipping through traffic like a maniac or doing triple-digits in the country lanes... (partly the reason why I had to get rid of that thing)
That's some mighty useful information thank you! I already have a couple of 'free flowing' bikes so the stank won't bother me!
And yes it was certainly not the easiest thing to chill on, but mostly due to the suspension setting and the rider, the bike will putt along happily enough if you let it.
If you get one, when its properly uncorked its SO SO much better.
I have, and it is! Could do with a remap to sort the fuelling out but it’s bearable for now.
You're right about the size/height. My YZ250 stands staller than my 701 Supermoto
Absolutely, feels almost like a tall naked bike rather than an SM
Really good vid, enjoyed the live test drive, another vid w/ all time in English countryside. Thanks sir
Oh, and I am really surprised you didn't hit any false neutrals.. 701 is notorious for having those and I hit one almost every ride and usually at the worst possible time (usually when overtaking cars). Though maybe they've sorted this issue out on the later models..
Yeah I've seen that on a lot of reviews also, so I was happy not to run into any of those issues, even the quickshifter and blipper exceeded my expectations.
He's not revving it enough for that to happen. He said and you can hear that he is literally "chugging" along. Adjust to the bike, don't expect the reverse.
Brilliant review I bought one and it’s phenomenal I’m surprised that in the uk they not that popular! Everyone seems to like big adventure bikes here?! But for pure fun these big singles can’t be beaten ❤
It's not "short" ... its wheelbase is actually longer than many big road-bikes ... about 4" longer than a Triumph Speed Twin 1200, for example.
Nice you had a DRZ so its not your first sumo? Or did you have the E
Yeah I did, unfortunately it got nicked but I loved that thing! Mine was the S model which had been converted to SM wheels.
Shame. I see why you lock yours now. @@TheRoadWarrior96
what gloves are those?
Knox Orsa Mk3
10:32 - How dare you, Sir?!
If only the Bonnie had that magical sixth gear, I’ve tried and it’s definitely not there
@@TheRoadWarrior96 I'll give you some points because you were nice about it at the end of the video. But yeah it's crying for a 6th gear, which the newer liquid-cooled ones did get in the end.
Hi Mate. I've enjoyed watching all of your videos on the 701. Bizarrely I'm now the the proud owner of the demonstrator you're out on in this video. Are you also on Facebook ?
Thanks, I am always glad to hear that. Wow that’s interesting, must have been strange seeing your bike on youtube! Luckily I was too scared to pin it so hopefully she’s running well for you. I don’t have a facebook account for youtube, but you can always get me on IG @theroadwarrior96
@@TheRoadWarrior96 It hasn't turned a wheel since buying it at the beginning of November last year. I Will be taxing it in April and see what the weather is like then 👍
So excellent hearing you fall in love with the chonk Supermotos 🎉❤ #lc4640 😊
An everyday supermoto, what's not to like? 😊
