I couldn't help but think to myself during the past few videos "Thomas is going to make a phenomenal dad one day"! He really is the dad of the group and just expels dad energy.
Thomas has proven to be a good dog dad. You laughed that he packed too much dog food, but I'm sure he also had a pet first aid kit and other items for Sierra. Very glad that AA had a good hike in my home state, along one of the most beautiful coastlines.

I started off with your japan trail ..but was mesmerised by the lost coast ..i cannot believe that in a world of short videos and reels i actually saw a 1.57 hours video ... All 4 of you complete each other as mates and sierra is another level . Love from india .
I don't understand people complaining. As usual, this was a wonderful episode. Such great content and being free for all (including the complainers). Creating creative content like this takes so much time and effort. Those people should stop complaining and appreciate more of what they are being gifted. Looking forward to more of your finely crafted work! If you guys ever have a chance to, please come to Oregon. I recommend Green Lakes (though any place you go is awesome).
Oh my god, my favorite RUclips channel, beautiful scenery, the ocean AND a Golden Retriever?! 🥰 I’m in heaven. Thank you for bringing such joy to your viewers.
I want to chuckle when I read those complaints about poor Thomas. From all the years of watching their videos, I believe that they literally grew up together as next door neighbors, and trust me, in case the very obvious has escaped your keen senses, Thomas is not, and has never been the bullied introvert. He can fend for himself very well and he is doing great. Definitely! I see him as the boss - the kind boss. He doesn’t always need to get his way. He acquiesces when he feels he should. He’s like the wise Dad of the group. 😀
So happy that you guys were back on the west coast. This is one of the most beautiful episodes you ever created. The primitive Lost Coast trail has so many unique challenges: getting to the remote trailhead, hiking on sand/rock with heavy packs, navigating the tide schedule, pooping on the beach in the tidal zone (and starving yourselves), staying away from ticks/rattlesnakes/bears. Thank you for the extra effort to bring us this amazing video.
Having hiked the Lost Coast myself, it was so exciting to see Adventure Archives apply their talent and style to one of the country's most unique hikes. Superbly narrated, wonderfully filmed to create a true masterpiece. California has SO much to offer in spectacular scenery both in the Sierras and on the coast. Please come and do more expeditions here (Kings Canyon, John Muir Wilderness, Ansel Adams wilderness to name but a few). Happy to help you with the logistics. Well done!
Perhaps I have seen you before. Kings and John Muir the Lost Coast. My son's and I did the PCT there and back. The Tahoe rim trail several times. We are from Sonora the gateway to Yosemite. The 87 mile section of PCT from Tuolumne Meadows to Sonora pass and back is likely our favorite followed by the Grand Canyon in the first week of April and then the Lost Coast in the fall. We moved to Colorado and we are working on the 456 mile Colorado Trail.
My little dog Rose is fascinated watching this video. We are 37 minutes in and she is absolutely engaged in this video. She’s literally growling at the seals and chasing the seagulls. ❤ 🐕🦺❤
Sorry to admit this: I blew you guys off 6 years ago as having no knowledge and not worth watching when you did your video of Yellowstone. I live near Yellowstone and have spent many trips in and out of there and the surrounding areas. I've guided people in and out of there multiple times. In your video, you guys were looking at animal droppings and had no idea what animal they belonged to and talking about fire starting and the plants and animals and I was just like "holy cow these guys know nothing". Whenever your videos would pop up after that I passed them by. Finally, this one popped up and I thought, well I've never seen that area so lets see how these guys are doing now. I was pleasantly surprised and I really liked this video. Your filming is tremendous and your commentary is great. You seem to have much more knowledge and experience. You guys have a great friendship and it was enjoyable following along. Thanks for showing me this area. I may try this hike at some point and I subscribed to your channel. Thanks🙂
This makes my third film I have started to watch from your channel, and I can’t stop. It amazing and how much fun and beautiful your adventures. I wish I could join you. My favorite thing about your trips is how you describe the plants, flowers and other beautiful natural elements. I’m still going through your playlist. Please don’t stop what you doing because it shows how beautiful and fragile our world really is. This is my favorite because it is my ultimate bucket list trip that I want to do…camping and hiking at the beach.
A few words. I love the movie length 2 hour format. Secondly, you all are the best. Each and every one of you adds to this video. It was a pleasure to watch. Thank you!
You’re one of my favorite adventure channels. You all bring something unique both in personality and knowledge yet you never come across as pretentious and I feel like all of your hikes/adventures-while challenging at times- are accessible to the average hiker/backpacker. Great cinematography too. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Ever since becoming a dad back in 2020, and now a dad of two since 5 weeks ago, I've yet to have set foot on a trail... your videos sort of scratch that itch to be out on the trail. For this, I am grateful.
Thank you so much for making my Saturday morning PERFECT! Watching it was a way to live my personal truth vicariously. I had a golden lab for 14 yrs. Chester was the love of my life. He weighed 106 and carrying him on a hike would have been hilarious! You are the best dog dad EVER!!! ❤
At the end of your hike video’s I love what is said about what you got out of the experience and the affirmations. I especially loved at the end what Brian spoke of the first Pictured Rocks hike in the UP Michigan and the Smoky Mountain hike. All of your hiking experiences in each video have a meaningful affirmation. A compilation of the affirmations stated at the end of many of your video’s with photos would be a lovely glossy hardcover coffee table book.
That was an amazing hike filled with beautiful coastal scenery. It looked grueling, as well. Sierra's definitely man's best friend. Actually, Thomas is a dog's best friend. 🐕
My other phone died and I lost access to my RUclips account. Took me a couple months to find this channel again. My favorite group of people on RUclips. Can't wait for the next video you guys make.
Dear KNIGH: From my sharp observation, they have been teasing each other from the very beginning, and they treat one another just fine. Their long standing relationship is apparently solid enough to withstand this level of joking around, quit worrying about their level of maturity.
5 Star ⭐️ video, AA. Love the sunset over the hypnotic sea . Being an East coast person I didn’t realize all the things you encountered were found by the ocean. Breathtaking views! Shout out to Bryan who did a perfect Robby imitation. Until next time. 🙋🏼♀️👍🏻❤️😎
What a beautiful trail! I just wanted to say y'all have inspired me to hike more in a rough time in my life. Thank y'all for the inspiration and truly wholesome videos.
If it wasn't for this video I don't think I would have ever seen the Lost Coast trail (and I live in Cali). Thank you for taking us on this adventure, for those of us who can't physically do it. I love every bit of this video, especially when Sierra was in the clip. I love how caring Thomas is with her! Awesome dog dad! Great video guys, keep up the good work! More videos with Sierra, please!
EPIC TRIP AND VIDEO, GUYS! I really enjoyed that you all narrated throughout the entire video. The work that it took to put it all together . . . Just WOW! Thank you for a wonderful trip I’ll never be able to take, but seeing it through your eyes was almost as good. Much love from Tennessee!❤
@@number1coolguyusa26 I have travel 24 states with my giants Alaskan Malamutes, done many trails, tourist attraction and planning more…when you love the. As family they are not a hassle
Thank you so much guys for reminding people about this hugely unexplored 25 mile hike. It’s absolutely wonderful and many people have already added it to their bucket list after seeing this video.
Hey guys, love your content, but personally, I miss the videos where you guys talked a lot about the food and made elaborate camping dishes. I don't know if this is the general consensus among your fans, but it would be cool to see those again. Fun stuff :) edit: Also, the BG music on this episode was NUTS. So good! It's always spectacular but the tracks on this one were a step above
One of my favorite hikes in CA. Brought back so many memories. If you folks ever come this way again, do the southern half. The Sinkyone Wilderness. It is south of Shelter Cove to Usal Beach. It is as varied terrain as the Lost Coast, but so very different. Up and down 2500 feet coastal ranges and camping a private sand beaches where the creeks run out to the ocean. Each turn is a different eco-system. Redwood forests one minute, then pampas grass jungles the next. The wildlife is as diverse as the landscape. Elk, Bear, Otter, Porpoises, Seals, Pelicans, Deer. You will see it all. And you will sleep so soundly on the sand with the ocean in your ears.
Man, right when I feel like I've seen everything in California. I live in socal and didn't know about the lost coast. Time to start planning a trip. Thanks, AA crew lol
We hiked this trail in June 2022. We camped at Big Creek the second night and Gitchell Creek on the third and final night. We ran into four rattlesnakes in that grassy area below Randall Creek. Thanks for making this video. It really brings back fantastic memories.
A beautiful episode with Sierra! She is a very faithful dog and Thomas really cares for her. I wanted to see more of her interacting with you guys because she is part of the group, she pulls her weight and hike and didn't complain at all :). Thomas is a very strong and determined hiker which is very admirable. He sometimes find it hard to RELAX!
Great video, guys. Such amazing scenery. Also enjoyed seeing Sierra enjoy herself. Points to you Thomas, for taking such good of her, carrying her when necessary, walking in the sand with her to avoid the ticks, and making shade for her when taking a rest stop. :)
hahaha I laughed so hard when Thomas responded with such incredulity! Totally understand that in the moment emotions come up & I think you all have such great chemistry to know where the borders are with each other ("I'm not going to argue with you guys"). Personally I relate on many fronts with Thomas, especially the part about enjoying time alone and away from friends after being socialized out. It's refreshing to see such relatable raw emotion on the internet, something I think doesn't get shown enough. Another incredible episode - this series is probably my favorite so far.
well said. I was thinking the same thing. this is the first video of theirs I've seen and I appreciated the friendship and content and am going to check out more. During the hike i thought they were calling him Andrew the whole time then at the end he said his name was Douglas. Am I wrong?
If people are concerned or curious about these guys' friendship after the trip, you can check out AA's podcast, Campfire Chronicles. They discussed the lost coast trip with some behind-the-scenes details in the last two episodes.
Going here in April ( reserved, but I'm 69.) Plan to do part of it then turn back. 4 days, this is the best I have seen of the area. Ya'll be awesome! Thank you!
Bears? Ticks? Rattlesnakes? I had no idea all those hazardous creatures hung out that close to the ocean. Oh my! I enjoyed "our" hike. Thanks for bringing us along.
i live in Humboldt county and i love our nature scenes even though there are no big cities around for hours its so nice to have the redwoods and the beach, i love seeing how much people appreciate somewhere as small and isolated as Humboldt county
In honor of the living metaphor, Andrew, I started a drinking game. Every time Andrew says "I feel like..." I take a drink...however, I'm getting pretty tipsy...so maybe I'll change the rules and take a drink every time Thomas smiles. That way I'll stay sober. lol. I'm loving your content, especially now that Matthew Posa is taking a break. Also, Shelter Cove is one of my favorite places on earth. I can't hike the lost coast because of my arthritis, so I really appreciated you taking us along - this was such a well-documented trek that I felt like I was there. Thanks so much.
Breathtaking! You captured so artfully the beauty of the coast. Honestly the most visually stunning episode so far. I am from Michigan and have only been to the Pacific coast twice, but it already has my heart. Thank you for this episode! Really enjoyed Bryan's Robby parody, I kept thinking of more ideas as I watched LOL If you guys want to attract new listeners, a short ASMR video of that coast - the ocean waves, the wind, the crunching sand and rocks - well, I'd sure love it! :D
Hi ya all. I've lived in Shelter Cove for 30 years and never done the Lost Coast Hike. So thank you for sharing your trip. I got some real gems from your incite on life. Peace!
When we did this I didn't think that last mile would ever end. Great vid guys takes me back to alot of the places we saw and stopped at to rest and camp.
@@AdventureArchives Wong Kar-wai is my favorite director of all time and you guys are my favorite RUclips channel! One quote from chunking express that sticks out to me when watching your channel is "If memories could be canned, would they also have expiry dates? If so, I hope they last for centuries." Thank you for all the great content and cinematography.
I'm from Cleveland and I've been on a journey to explore areas close to me. I have 4 years on the Grand River. 23 species of fish. You guys capture my home on the west better than anyone I've ever seen.
Stellar effort on a great hike of a lifetime. Your ruminations on life and philosophical meanderings were enjoyable. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Some beautiful captures of Coast, ocean and land creatures.. Thanks for soothing narration replete with biological, botanical info and your repartee humor. You never tire carrying that long tripod. A dog on a hike adds a special dimension, for their enthusiasm and observations (olfactory and be auditory) that we might miss . Your human meals are a true wonder... Thanks for an excellent trip
Eleven people including seven children had to rescued recently by the tiny fire service in little Westport recently. They were caught on a beach on the lost coast at high tide. This is not just the proverbial walk in the park.
Man oh man I love this one. I binge your show daily I love where you guys take us I feel like I'm there with u. I need to buy some meals and eat them while u guys are then it would be like i really was there ha ha. You all make the meals seem amazing. I love them to but I don't see the kinds u eat. I want to go try your trails out hopefully soon. You guys are truly blessed you get to do all these amazing hikes I'm so jelly of some of these places. Thanks for your channel I am a devout watcher 😁💛💚🧡
Random thought but I think it would be a great Patreon exclusive content option to have a Sierra Cam. I'd love to see some of the trails from her point of view. Seeing her happily galavanting on the beach makes me sooo happy. My senior dog can no longer zoom around (outside of her dreams) but I'm sure she'd love to sun bathe with those seal lol
I live about half way from Shelter Cove and the mouth of the Mattole where you guys started your LCT. That road is no joke! I used to shuttle hikers from the Black Sands point in Shelter Cove to the north end of the trail, which is a great option if you don't want to make that drive yourselves and have the funds. Lost Coast Adventures is a great outfit located in Shelter Cove that can provide those services. Thanks for showcasing an amazing slice of N. California and our wonderful community. (P.S. -Never don't stop at the Peg House!)
I watch your videos many times over when I say I do this it is because I let it go on playing even after I’ve watched it, and turn the screen off as I have RUclips premium and it brings me such wonderful sleep
So nice to see all four of you guys back together again! And Thank You Thomas for bringing Sierra- she is such a sweet girl ❤ . I’m always looking for dog friendly hikes and it’s nice to see how well she did on the long but beautiful 3-day hike. 🌳🌊🦮🐚🦭
Ive done this trail many times and will be there again this summer. You have captured the HIKE part of this trail wonderfully. I rarely sit through videos this long and i wish at the end of it i was there with you. Great job guys. You too sierra.
This video had my wife and I laughing so hard, at the memory of or hike through the area a little before you all. We were happy to see we were not the only ones to feel the "joy" of hiking though the sand and over the rocks.
I love how Thomas EXISTS for Sierra. It's very heartwarming to see him investing his soul in her well being. Sierra is an angel ❤

Totally. He's definitely the leader of the group, with any group of friends a leader is granted subconsciously and it's clearly Thomas.
This episode feels like "Adventure Archives: The Movie" to me. The shots, the light, the scenery, everything is super cinematic. Great job!

I take a drink...however, I'm getting pretty tipsy...so maybe I'll change the rules and take a drink every time Thomas smiles.
Really enjoyed Bryan's Robby parody, I kept thinking of more ideas as I watched LOL
If you guys want to attract new listeners, a short ASMR video of that coast - the ocean waves, the wind, the crunching sand and rocks - well, I'd sure love it! :D
Hi ya all. I've lived in Shelter Cove for 30 years and never done the Lost Coast Hike. So thank you for sharing your trip. I got some real gems from your incite on life. Peace!
A person's views and inner feelings are a reflection of the world as they perceive it.
When we did this I didn't think that last mile would ever end. Great vid guys takes me back to alot of the places we saw and stopped at to rest and camp.
Black Sands Beach looks like the coasts of NZ.
Hearts to Brian's Cat and hearty laughter to the parody of Robby. The Halo is nostalgic.
Pardon me. Meant to spell Bryan as in Bryan, Ohio.
The shoutouts at the end 1:48:50 definitely give off some wong kar wai / chunking express vibes and I am loving it!
You got it exactly right! It was based on Chunking Express
@@AdventureArchives Wong Kar-wai is my favorite director of all time and you guys are my favorite RUclips channel! One quote from chunking express that sticks out to me when watching your channel is
"If memories could be canned, would they also have expiry dates? If so, I hope they last for centuries."
Thank you for all the great content and cinematography.
I'm from Cleveland and I've been on a journey to explore areas close to me. I have 4 years on the Grand River. 23 species of fish. You guys capture my home on the west better than anyone I've ever seen.
I love this channel. Great to listen to while working.
I’m glad Thomas kept her out of tall grass, even here in Oakland parks the rattlesnakes & foxtails are awful for dogs!
Stellar effort on a great hike of a lifetime. Your ruminations on life and philosophical meanderings were enjoyable. Thank you so much for sharing this.
I love the little story at the end. I love how it was told. It was moving.
So very glad to have come across this. Beautiful! Thank you. ❤
WOW! That is one beautiful remote beach of California.
This must be a fun and memorable camping!
This is easily one of the coolest locations you guys have done for a video so far
The accompanying music is terrific! Much enjoyed following you along the Lost Coast!
Thank you for sharing this awesomeness! 👍😎🇨🇦📷🌊🐾🪶
I second this!
Thank you gentlemen for the ocean! The black sand was a joy to see!!
Thank you so much for all your adventures!
For me this your best video yet! Very good shots! Appreciate y'all.
I watch your videos many times over when I say I do this it is because I let it go on playing even after I’ve watched it, and turn the screen off as I have RUclips premium and it brings me such wonderful sleep
Love the shot of Bryan and Sierra sitting together ❤️
