It's the same thing for tables. The only reason this worked out in the past was because of how houses and some furniture used to be structured. Doorways used to be more reinforced and tables used to be way more sturdy.

I feel like everyone should know the basics of what to do in any and all emergencies. After living in Japan and getting so many earthquakes, even coming back to UK i have a go-bag and supplies.
In elementary school (2003) we had an active shooter drill then later that year we had an actual shooter in our school that luckily was arrested before anyone got hurt but I remember being terrified. Only in elementary did we practice all sorts of drills in middle school and high school they never did shooter drills.
Standing in the doorframe seems like a good idea until the earthquake is so strong that it twists the doorframe 😂 same with tables/desks, had an earthquake so strong that the desk moved away from where I was sitting even though I was holding onto the legs 😂

Where I live it was all about tornado drills, sometimes earthquakes but really we they're minor, and then Snowpocalypse which is really only two to three inches of snow but melts so quickly that it's icy slush.
I felt a tremor in Chicago in 2005. I had stayed up late playing video games one weekend near the basement level when I felt a vibration and the door rattling. Everybody was sleep. I didn't know what it was and thought someone was knocking on the backdoor, which scared the crap out of me, but when I peeked out of a small window, I didn't see anybody. The next day, I found out it was an earthquake. I didn't even know you could get earthquakes in Illinois until that day. That's when I started taking my school earthquake drills seriously.

That’s why always have a second precaution when you fix cars, like a wood block that is thick enough to clear your body depth and a little more when you lay down. My dad made one himself by bolting down multiple wooden blocks together.

NEVER stand on a doorway because the swaying can easily cause instability to the frame, unless you know your door was designed rated for Earthquakes, I would recommend getting under something sturdy, or even fortifying something sturdy to cover yourself from falling debris, or like Tiff says, go outside if you're not around things that can fall, deaths and injuries only occur from falling objects. Make your best judgements to stay safe out there!

California has earthquake drills in school while we just had fire and bomb drills that were often a result of someone making a bullshit call to the school or the emergency number to get out of their exams but we didn't really care we got to spend an hour or more outside until we were allowed back inside the classroom

Oh god! Never go under a table during an earthquake. If the ceiling collapses, then you end up smashed. Always try to go under a door frame or to a corner or something, you know, the triangle of life thing. Those are the most sturdy places inside your house. If you do have a places outside the house without trees, cables or anything that could fall on top of you, then going outside its always the best option

There was a recent earthquake in Seattle too and it was only a 4.1 but people are scared that this it’s leading up to the 9.0-10.0 magnitude earthquake that’s supposed to last around 5 minutes (they’ve been expecting it for around 20-30 years now)

earthquake drill would be going under sturdy tables or going outside if nothing is around to fall on you. tornado drills are going to rooms that have no windows.
I don’t live near Cali. I live in Ohio, but we have been experiencing earthquakes too. We have many fault lines in and near Lake Erie. Our water has risen 5.3 trillion gallons over the past month or so. I have a feeling when a major earthquake hits us there will be flooding and cedar point mostly will not be here. It’s crazy to think about, but anything can happen at this point.

I live on Illinois so I have never had a earthquake drill. Is it similar to like a tornado drill?
earthquake drill would be going under sturdy tables or going outside if nothing is around to fall on you. tornado drills are going to rooms that have no windows.
I don’t live near Cali. I live in Ohio, but we have been experiencing earthquakes too. We have many fault lines in and near Lake Erie. Our water has risen 5.3 trillion gallons over the past month or so. I have a feeling when a major earthquake hits us there will be flooding and cedar point mostly will not be here. It’s crazy to think about, but anything can happen at this point.
