Excellent conversation. I always enjoy listening to Professor Chibber. He has a clear and concise explanation of these basic and crucial concepts about modern socialism and the way forward to combat capitalism.
Hi red shirt person. Very interesting talk, thank you. One note of feedback: something in your computer mic makes your "hmm" and nods extremely loud every time you start talking. Quite jarring, hope you can resolve it because I would love to hear more of these talks
The redshirt guy here. haha. Thanks for the feedback. For some weird reasons the sound quality was awful after recording. My voice was too loud, and Vivek's was too low. I fixed most of it during the production phase, but some hmmms and ahhhs escaped me as they were just interjections while Vivek was talking. Won't happen again.
Democracy certainly has massive flaws, however, they can be somewhat alleviated. Such as taking all money out of politics. Also reforming the voting system to proportional representation - helping smash the duopoly of the two party system, wherein a vote for a leftist candidate might let in the Republicans by default. As happened with Ralph Nader in 2004. Many people don't vote Democrat on merit, they just vote Democrat to keep out the Republicans. With PR that kind of catch 22 politics is somewhat negated, at least in congressional elections. On the continent of Europe, you see more representation for green and socialist parties. Often forming coalitions to win majorities.
Ironic all the ads I listened to on this video. Super capitalistic scams, like investments from home, all kinds of b.s. Ha ha. I hope, at least, the uploader of this vid got some money out of these bastard ads.
