These are quite common for us as well, the EXACT same issue. I take the route of replacing the port completely and end up having to do trace repair. Looks like I was spending way too long doing that instead of just touching up those pins back to the board 😂😂 Live and learn! Thanks Sorin :)
yep I've seen a few of these, same exact thing all the pads snap clean off. I like doing the full port replacement and jumper wire repair instead of just solder bridging, because I like to think the extra flexibility might prevent it breaking again in the future
@@danandrei96 I this case I saw no solder on the top side of the anchor / grounding legs. That port will break those solder joins yet again.
Good job , i think the port need more support because it is moving inside and that's what makes the pin broken.

I still think it is best if the charging port is separate from the motherboard.
You always has to plug and unplug the charger and even move the laptop around while the charger is connected.
To have the charging port soldered to the motherboard is not the best design.
I had the same problem with a Samsung phone. I checked on the components around the battery connection, then charging started. The battery was faulty, so I had a second try, charging started again. Third time I didn’t need the multimeter, charging started. I used a car charger to do this. Car drivers have additional benefits for devices if they use car charging, car charger fixes the memory effected battery even on Android 4.0, and 2.0. Car charger fixes the charging speed, so slow charging devices switch to faster charging without destroying the battery. One car charging is enough for a tab to have higher capacity and faster charging using its default 1A 5V AC charger. To do this, you don’t need to drain your car battery, just a few minutes charging is ok for the fix.

Hello, I have the same laptop model and the same thing happened to me with the charging port. The company wants to change the entire plate and the cost of the repair is very high almost the same as what my laptop cost me at the beginning.
I really don't know what to do, you could recommend some other option.

I hate this new design when a charging port is soldered to the MB, why it cannot be on the ribbon cable like in some android phones ? it is much easier the replace .
Also about ground pin, I usually add a thick wire across them together with a ground pins to make the connector much stronger
Also I remove RAM and SSD if I can , when I do any solder job on the MB.

Or just solder. I got 2 chargers already with the same watts requirements. Also my usb cables are good 60w amd 100 w but still really slow when charging laptop

exactly same type connector like on most of their phones and very bad designed as well,samsung phones used it too for 2019,2020 A-series and move away to more robust design which is not prone to such a problem

Natural solution is to relax, go to nature, swim in the sea, go sea mountains, take regular exercise or even better work in the garden or agriculture with primitive hand tools to boost your serotonin levels. Sitting behind the desk fixing things and breathing solder fumes everyday can be damaging to mental and physical health.

Oh geez. I didn't know they made things besides phones. I bought one of those without really looking when Androids were just getting affordable thinking it was a Samsung and it was probably the worst phone I had ever owned.
You are lucky that you can see where the pins are going. The bring me a laptop where they ripped out the port and trucks. I have to find out where they normally did go. That’s long rerouted all the connections.
Hope next gen port is stronger
