Congratulations! You are the first woodworking channel I’ve watched with my wife and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The music selection was delightful and your skills admirable. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Be well
thanks Scott! I read that in the voice of Louis Sauzedde from the @TipsfromaShipwrightvideos. He is always talking about medullary rays! thanks for watching and welcome to the channel
Thanks for turning this masterpiece... the grains are spectacular and to see how it become from firewood for 2 or 3 hours warmness to a legendary bowl for many genarations in decorative behaviors... that's amazing kind of art!!! Thanks for sharing!!! 🎩👍👍🇩🇪🔨
Cool looking wood. GREAT drill! I wish I had a reversing lathe, makes bowls easier. Mine is a 12"Commodore, I have to swing the whole thing 90 deg to get in there. It works though. Nice vid.
yeah reversing is a huge positive. especially doing hollow forms. that said, I turned a lot of things on my old harbor freight special with no speed control and no reverse. but yea...nice tools are nice!
Now put the bowl under a black light and be amazed at what you see. Pistachio has some amazing surprises. Make a comment or better yet post a picture when you do the black light trick to it.
Beautiful bowl need to find some pistachio wood. Sorry if this was asked but were you hollowing with the lathe in reverse. if so have you had any problems with the chuck coming loose. Also could you please tell me what laser engraver you are using.
yes I was turning in reverse. I find it makes hollowing much easier because of the angle. I wont say that there is NO risk of the chuck coming loose. there are two ways to avoid that. 1) make sure you tighten the set screw on the chuck if your chuck has one (which i lazily almost never tighten) and 2) don't get any catches. lol
@ZombieWoodturner it looked much easier than leaning over the lathe. I will have to give a try. Lol, no catches, I WISH. Thanks for response back by the way.
yeah I can see that. by the way Sheilah , the algo rhythm told me that you are my top commenter! thanks you for being such a steadfast fan all these years!!!

Beautiful piece of work. Glad this shape worked out and that you didn’t have to shorten it. You dealt well with the cracks.
Thanks! The cracks weren’t too bad, but I did have to think about it for a while
