You introduce artists that I have never heard of and make me curious as to not only want to know their background but then to listen to them. Amusing about the misheard lyrics:) I was impressed by Dayton and the themes he wanted to dive into. He has strength from his struggles. A fine in depth interview!

Nice to see you branching out to do interviews. I'm not yet a patron sub. but hope to be soon. I'm 57 and your musical travels have followed the same path as myself. Its uncanny. Thanks to this interview I'll give gentleman a listen. You got my interest. "Whipping Post" cover by Frank Zappa will blow your ever loving mind no joke.

As the interview went on, it got better and better. Music almost became a sidebar. Dayton, I wish the best for you. Your path seems clearer as time passes. You have plowed through some personal issues with music as your vehicle. And Daniel, your generosity in exposing several new artists over the last year or so through these long format interviews is not surprising. I only wish the generosity was reciprocated by a larger, more established artist interviewing YOU. Every artist with both definitive goals AND actual talent deserves a chance. And that's why my support will never waver.

I can understand what he said about depression because I have it not as bad But when I was growing up going to school I would have a Epilepsy attack and the kids laugh at me and made me feel so different I wonder if that would change once in Highschool but they were just as bad if not more. Mark wills askcountry music artist got it on the nose with his song (Don't laugh at me ) . If you have the time you should listen to that song because that's how I felt and sometimes still happens. Daniel you did very good. And you are not a nobody to me.

Hi Darcy! I know exactly how you feel. That Mark Wills song says it all. Grade school was awful. Kids can be so mean and hurtful. I felt pretty normal but they made me feel like garbage. Same in high school. I wanted to be friends with everyone but that wasn't the case. I turned to music and movies and I wrote stories to help me cope. I made it cause I am still here today. So are you. And I'm glad you're here Darcy despite all you have gone through too. 😊

@@darcysalas3042 I think in grade school the girls used to look at me funny. They didn't need to say a word. They'd look ,make faces of disgust or laugh. Why? I wasn't ugly but they sure made me feel like I was. It made my self esteem real low. I'd find comfort at home with music and my imagination. I hated gym class because no one wanted me on their team. They had no idea that they were missing out on someone who could be a real friend. There was one girl I met in second grade. They would pick on her too but she didn't let it bother her. Do you know she and I are still friends today! I had similar problems in high school. There were all girls. One minute they like you and the next you're weird to them. I'd get stomach aches I hated it so bad. Couldn't wait to graduate. Anyway I learned as I got older that I'm a cool person with some talents and I'm not ever going to let anyone hurt or judge me. That's why I loved Dayton King's interview. Be who you are and be proud of your accomplishments! Thanks for sharing that song by Mark Wills. I loved it!

@@cherylreichardt Thank you, for me I have Epilepsy and people would think I am a crazy person because when I do have one if someone is taking to me I can't hear them and I am unaware of were I am. Don't worry I be your friend. I think we are starting a friendship up because I really, really understand what it is like being the out cast. We have to Thank Daniel for the music because that's how we meet. Thank you. The reason why I have epilepsy is because I I had Heart surgery as a infant and I died for a few minutes and part of my brain got damaged. I had to go through special Education all my years though school but I made it and one time someone saw me from Highschool that made fun of me and was surprised the person I became.

@@darcysalas3042 When I was little we had a maid. She had an epileptic episode in front of me and my mother. I was trained from little on never ever to make fun of someone behaving oddly. You don't know what is wrong. I'm good to people and it's okay if they are not good to me. God sees everyone's heart. It is very nice to talk to you Darcy! 😊

I listened to every second of this interview and I found it really interesting. Dayton is almost startlingly honest about his interior reality, and in particular his sexuality, which he has explored in an exceptionally self-aware manner. Since I think human sexuality is a continuum rather than a set of strictly binary statuses (all heterosexual, all homosexual, half heterosexual half homosexual, etc.), seeing it as a continuum implies that sexuality is more hazy, less strictly defined than people might realize. People who consider themselves all one orientation might have impulses and hidden desires which they find disturbing or confusing. And I know that adolescent guys often abhor the idea of being thought of as "gay" by others. Dayton is very honest and open about such questions. Daniel asks incisive questions and gets better at interviewing every time he does it. I found this to be a bracing conversation between two highly intelligent, deeply sensitive artists. Well worth the time!

Having him on your show is laughable, Dayton King has to be the worst 'artist' to ever touch music. His style is truly revolting.
