    I had the same guy (Woodshop Wednesday) build me a custom stock for my PCC. I wanted an extended foreend - something more like a Mannlicher Carbine. He was able to extend the stock to a length a little longer than an M1 Carbine. In fact, to me anyways, the barrel band and sling mounts make mine look very similar to an M1 Carbine. In any case, I dig it!

      His stocks are great, and if you don't like it, he'll take it back! The muzzle brake is a Wings Tactical. I don't know if they are still available, but it really works great. I have shot the gun with and without and you can really feel the difference. I chose it because at the time it was the only one that had a top vent and side vents. Usually you only find them with one or the other. It may be marketed under a different name. After writing all this, I found it. Link is below.

    Does it add weight to an already 6lbs PCC?

    • @CompShooter54
      @CompShooter54  11 месяцев назад

      Walnut stock is 1 lb 15 oz, handguard is 4.9 oz. Zebra wood stock is 1 lb. 12 oz, handguard is 6.1 oz. I haven't weighed the plastic factory stock.

    • @EricRenger
      @EricRenger 7 месяцев назад

      @@CompShooter54 According to the info I looked up when researching a MagPul Backpacker stock, the factory stock, magwell, and one spacer are 1 lb 10.4 oz. Each spacer is 1.25 oz, so add or remove weight to get your desired length of pull. If the wooden stocks are the same length of pull as the factory ones, then your walnut is about 5 oz heavier, and the zebra is about 2 oz heavier than the factory synthetic. The Ruger factory synthetic forend is 8.1 oz, so your wood forends are actually lighter than the Ruger forends by 3.2 oz for walnut and 2.0 oz for zebra. Basically, they are very close - only a few ounces difference. It does sound like the wood options shift weight from the forend to the buttstock, which might not be a bad thing, considering the PC Carbine is a bit nose heavy, in my opinion. Do you feel like the carbine with the wood is balanced better, worse, or about the same as with the factory synthetic stock? It sounds like you shoot competitively, so I imagine weight and also balance matter to you. BTW, the Magpul Backpacker stock and forend are about 11 oz lighter than the factory stock and forend, which is nice, but the overall balance seems even more toward the front.

    • @CompShooter54
      @CompShooter54  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@EricRenger HEY ERIC, THANKS FOR ALL THE RESEARCH!! I just did some weighing of the walnut stock. The forend is 4.9 oz and the stock is 20 oz. On my factory forend it's 8.1, which is the first version. The factory stock is 28.1. The total savings is 11.3 oz with the walnut. I used to use this gun for USPSA but it's just too heavy to swing fast, so I only use now for falling steel plate shoots, which are much closer together, so the swing isn't such a big deal. Once you lighten the rear stock the balance changes so it makes the gun feel even more front heavy, which is probably what you are feeling with the Magpul. I loaned out the zebra wood stock to a friend so I don't have numbers for that, but it is heavier than the walnut.

      @@CompShooter54 I wish the barrel on the PC Carbine were lighter. It’s built like a tank, which might be fine for some things, but I feel like the barrel could be a lot lighter and still be plenty robust.
