Hazard in his prime and maybe KDB, Lukaku has never been in the top five strikers, Kompany was past his best so was Vertonghen. The rest are okay, generally average and decent on their day. Players like Fellaini, Chadli? Come on man. You can't compare them to other golden generations like Spain, England, France, Germany or Italy. They were never amazing, individually or otherwise. They managed to reach quarterfinals of competitions, which is their ceiling. They didn't underperform or outperform their potential.

I’m not even Belgian and that was infuriating to watch. Did the Belgians not realize they have an absolute mismatch advantage with Lukaku up top? Feed him the ball and don’t stop doing it, period. I swear this current generation of players do not know how to play with an out and out number 9. Belgium absolutely wasted Lukaku today. People will inevitably mock Lukaku but he’s a mismatch nightmare. Particularly at the international level as the 6th leading goal scorer of all time with 85 goals. Also a at the start of the match a Slovak player touched the ball in the penalty area, but that it was not a penalty because it was very light.

Belgium has lacked a top level striker and wingers since they made a great run back in the 2018 World Cup. Lukaku is not the same player he once was 3-4 years ago and KDB is 32 and injury prone. The midfielding and formation has to improve for Belgium or they could be bounced out again.

I find the criticism on Belgium a bit too harsh and biased. They played well in my opinion, much better than England, for the least. Lukaku's goal was legitimate..and the handball decision was unfair. We could have been having a totally different conversation had the referee not disallowed that goal.

True. Also the ref and the VAR was inconsitent. A Slovak player (forgive me for not remembering his name) touched the ball with his hands in the penalty area.
It was judged as being involuntary, so no penalty. I can agree with that. Players can not simply cut of there arms. These things happen.
But that the ref and VAR used a different logic when judging when Openda touched the ball.
If Openda would have started the game, he would have scored or assisted another goal for sure. Trossard wasnt good at all.
