For the safety of our volunteers and animals, we require that all volunteers be at least 16 years of age to volunteer in a regular role ― no exceptions. Although you must be 16 years old to volunteer, we have many other ways for young people to support the animals and learn about animal welfare:

Im a 13 year old teen who adores cats and dogs I was hoping I could volenteer at an animal shelter somewhere around north cape may for this summer,do some animal shelters let teens volunteer or do they have to have a parent with them?
Check out their website to see if they have a location near you. Then you should click on how to help and volunteer I believe. I do think you have to be 16 or older to volunteer though. There may be opportunities for 13 year olds though but be sure to check their website 👍
I know in my area the minimum age is 10, but if you're under 15 your adult needs to stay with you. google around, and pitch it to an animal-loving adult in your life if they don't let you go alone. I'm SO glad you have a passion for this! keep being amazing

I have always told that I am good with dogs and I want to be a veterinarian. And I have wanted to volunteer this summer at human society, but I’m not sure what the ages are for volunteering. Does anyone know what the age lines are? I am currently 13

"You must be 16 or older to volunteer at Animal Humane Society sites or events.
We understand that most youth have varying maturity levels. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to appropriately assess these differences and thus our policy is to limit our volunteer program to those 16 years of age or older.
Young people can engage in animal welfare issues and the work of Animal Humane Society through:
- Community service projects
- Student Volunteer Experience
- Other AHS educational programs
Young people might also consider having a parent apply to be a foster volunteer. Although the primary volunteer must be age 18 or older, the entire family can participate in the fostering experience."
