I was three or four years old when I first heard this song and it remains my favorite to this day. So happy to see you're all still rocking together! Thank you so much for my favorite song 🎵 ❤
I just heard this song on tv for the first time in years and i thought it was from the 90's...(which seems recent to me Lol) It's perfect and timeless.
This song always had a great "feel" to it--just a little dark and gritty--partly from the gravelly vocals, partly from the sweet guitar, partly from that bass line. Ive always loved it, and this live version after so many years sounds amazing!.
Love this song so much. I grew up listening to my Dad's copy of Drastic Steps. One of the early CDs and a gem of an album and songs that will stay with me forever. Just awesome ✌️
@@keysgeo3634 I had to make a new channel because my situation has changed. I had to pop in and say "Hello" to you and the OTHER Rob. My band wanted to cover this song after I reminded them of it. Hope you don't mind. Skal! (cheers)
This song is astoundingly about samsaric living before nirvanic... enlightenment. And the fact it is so imminently groovable... what could be better!!!! Oh one thing... I could be their lead singer! Forreal.
Well it´s their original song, so 40 years after they wrote it, they should know how to play it! I miss the cowbell/woodblock quarter notes though, as it sort of defines the original track. They guitar is brutal and just lovely here and the organ works nicely as well. Great work from all of you.
50 years ago today, on 27th September 1968, The Climax Chicago Blues Band went into Abbey Road studios to record this, their first album. The band was (left to right) Pete Haycock, me, Colin Cooper, Derek Holt, Arthur Wood, George Newsome. Richard Jones.
The nucleus of the current band has been together since the 80s. Have a listen to the new album "Hands of Time" which is as good, if not better than many of their albums unless you choose to resurrect Colin Cooper and Pete Haycock...
From the Climax Blues Band website: George Glover joined the band on keyboards in 1981, Haycock left in 1984 and Lester Hunt came into the re-vamped Climax in 1985, Roy Adams joined in 1987 and Neil Simpson in the early 1990s. Colin Cooper was leading the band with a return to the kind of blues that got the band started before his untimely death. His wish was for the band to continue and the recruitment of Graham Dee and Chris ‘Beebe’ Aldridge was made with a view to broadening the Climax sound again and take on new musical influences, move forward creatively which was the Climax Blues Band trademark, rather than rely on the past glories. I am sorry that you didn't see the band over the last 40 years but suggest that you listen to "Hands of Time" the new album of original material that was released in 2019.
George Glover is the longest serving member Keyboardist 1980/81 Guitarist Les 1985 but no original members these days both Colin &Pete passed away ClimaxBluesBand.com biography ✌️

Thank you very much for your comments.. Much appreciated
who are these people in the audience who are just talking through this.. unbelievable
My thoughts exactly
They are the millennial, Gen Z generation, they have no respect and are just there to get drunk.
Think of it this way….whoever recorded this, did a shotty job of not including the audience

Rob Stonehewer yeah but people like the lineup that made the band what it was. Just the way things go.
No cowbell??
great performance, but it could use a little cowbell
Can some one tell me who these are? ......I knew the original band but I cant recognise this lot...!!!!

Thanks for the reply. I used to live in Stafford and knock around with Derek Holt. I will listen to the track you recommended. Best wishes. Ray

The original recording had a cowbell . What , no cowbell ?
I think you got it right fellas!
"I'm lookin' for someone other than my wife. Other than my wife. Ashley Madison's right............."
Just not the same without Colin Cooper, Pete Haycock, Derek Holt and John Cuffley. This might as well be a cover band. SIGH.
Hell. I thought the heavyset guy in the green hawaiian shirt on the far right WAS Derek Holt.
HUH
A different sound with this lead vocal. Won't be following but good luck to all.
This is just a cover band.
Noone is original?? Cover band is all...
Not the original lead vocal. Nice cover band
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck maybe it really isn't a duck... NO!...it's a cover band and that's all.
STOP calling yourselves Climax Blues Band! POACHERS ALL OF YOU! :(
So, who out of this lineup is from the original?
George Glover is the longest serving member Keyboardist 1980/81 Guitarist Les 1985 but no original members these days both Colin &Pete passed away
