Is the glue used to fix the crack stronger than the wood meaning when using the clamps to close it, it will never crack again and hide the repair using French polishing.
Imagine playing with an orchestra in front of an audience when just minutes before your prize violin lay shattered on the floor. Utter shade of pale mixed with hollow eyes and gut wrenching quiver running up and down your spine while playing what seems to be a plastic fiddle compaired to yours. 😵

Difficult to follow, not chronological, with come -backs and cut phases. And in the end, you don't not seem satisfied at all, but you do not say why, and I am not a specialist to guess. And the video stops there ! Do you mean that what you did is not so good, but good enough for the owner not worth any more work from you ? Some details upon the "presses" you use to narrow and glue the long crack would have been very interesting. why use these and not the long side-to-side presses as usual, I can think that they would curve the back and not only press the crack ? Explain, explain, explain...
Folk musicians are not virtuosos! They are comparable to gypsy violinists of Europe who can't read a libretto but play excellent violin all the same and take care of their violin like a child!.Tennesee fiddlers do the same but saw the fiddle and there it goes for restoration!.A 300$ chinese fiddle will do for their playing and can be junked like the automobile after every season(year)!.
Hi I broke a violen and I need to watch this but I'm only 9 and my mom knows and I wanted to still play violen but I can't because I broke my 1,0000 dollar violen
I really enjoy watching these craftsmen doing their masterful job on the instrument.
It's not often that I see a good craftsman on RUclips (most of them are charlatans), well done Johnathon!
Yes, I would agree with that too.
Ask Olaf the violin maker
Thank you, that was a beautiful presentation!
would have loved to have seen more of the repair. I love watching these Master Craftsmen do their magic on these works of art. ECF
His bench is just toooooooo neat.
Very cool! And, the fiddle sounded great when done!
I don't know how important that little details 😇
For me it's unbelievable craftsmanship.
Great job! (I think) What does Mark think? I'm glad to see it back in one piece.
The tune played at 0.55 is "In memory of Coleman" by Ed Reavy (1897 - 1988)
What a smooth way to pull the bow... :)
Wondering how some Bach would sound with his technique.

Успеха мастерам в сотворении чуда, голосом скрипки говорит бог!

They forgot to say how much he charged for the repair? I'm guessing, about $1,500. It probably took him, at least, eight hours to do.
Very deep sound which brand violin 🎻
Better watch the video again.

He is using a mold, more precise than just clamps. Maybe you can learn by searching for "violin repair mold"
A good violin wasted on folk music
Nice to know you're not a snob or anything :)
What an unfathomable jackass.
And the word Virtuoso shouldn't refer to folk music players either
