It's not government who banned or stop Headhunting in nagaland, The American missionary bought Christianity in nagaland and that's the important turning point for the nagas to stop Headhunting.

It was not missionaries who stopped headhunting but British government after chinglong expedition in 1912. Obcourse, in some parts of konyak area,the last headhunting was stopped along with the arrival of Christianity in early 40s.
