for the biting, make sure u don't talk in a high voice!! people usually talk to dogs in a high voice when playing, etc., so she will think she's being praised instead of punished!!
I'm a dog trainer and what i recommend to deal with puppy biting is to get a chew toy that you can fill with peanut butter or dog treats and use that to distract her from biting you. You can fill them up and keep them in the freezer so you always have one ready. If you keep up with this usually the puppy will learn.
I studied animal behavior and I'm not sure if this is the most effective way because she will associate biting with getting a treat. And if she really wants a treat she will bite someone for it
Make sure that you’re playing with her and her toys because puppies need to know the difference between “play bites” and when it actually hurts. So if you’re playing don’t react because she’s still a puppy but if she’s just randomly biting grab her muzzle (nose/mouth) and say no firmly. She might whine but this doesn’t hurt dogs, she might do that because she knows she did something wrong. We’ve had dogs all through my life and this has always worked.
Jessica Lee I second this!! If you do this you will really condition her to know that when you say "Ow" playtime will end if she doesn't stop biting.. also you just need to be really stern with her! Dogs are very forgiving.. she will still love you AND listen to you if you actually make her obey you even it takes being kinda harsh with your words. Just make sure you stick to the same phrases like "no bite" and "ow"
When my dogs do something bad I always do a really stern “No” and point at them, which seems to work because they always know if we’re pointing at them with a straight face they realize they’ve done something bad
I have two Golden's and they were bad biters when they were puppies. They usually do it because of teething. Mine stopped biting one their adult teeth came in
Katie Irwin yes! I have a mini golden doodle puppy and she chews everything. My cousin has one too & said the same thing. I know it’s all pups but especially this breed lol
Sometimes its more of a teething thing. Speaking from experiance my dog would nibble or teethe using my fingers or thumbs. Sometimes dogs find acctual teething toys too hard or harsh on their gums and nibbling and teething on their human parents fingers is more soothing to them.
you should watch Zak George dog training videos on youtube. He has a whole bunch of videos on puppy biting and how to solve it, and he also does his training in ethical and modern ways! This is great, as you don't need to be "mean" or "stern" with your animal for them to learn appropriate behavior. I would highly recommend checking them out to solve your puppy biting issues!
My uncle and aunt are currently training their puppy not to bite too. Apparently, when puppies grow up with their moms, they actually bite them back to show them how hard is “okay” to bite and that it actually hurts. As weird as it is, any time their dog bites them, they take its paw and either pinch or actually bite the pup’s paw. It’s been working really well for them.
As a dog groomer, when dogs, especially puppies bites/nibbles me at work to teach them I was taught to scruff them (lightly grab the skin on the back of her neck) and hold her there and tell her no every time she bites or nibbles you! It won’t hurt her! she’ll just be very surprised as it’s you asserting dominance to her. Hope this helps!
Lauren’s love language is gift giving and if it wasn’t obvious by the consistently fantastic gifts, she said she keeps printed tickets. Which is what all the gift givers do.
About the chewing thing, it is definitely a puppy thing. My dog used to do that ALL the time when she was a puppy and now that she is 4 years old she doesn't do it anymore and tbh I kinda miss it a bit... It was kinda cute.
When my dog was a puppy and went through the biting phase we made sure we didn’t want her to bite. If she would bite I would smack her nose (lightly of course) and point my finger at her and said no biting firmly. We also would force a toy in her mouth. You need to use force and disciple to make Luma understand that you are her owner and it is not okay to bite. Poodles are very good and smart at understanding commands. My dog is a shihpoo. Lima will catch on fast, you just need to be patient and be firm with her!!
Whenever she bites you, you have to put her in timeout and don't give her any attention. And the key is to do it consistently. It won't work the first couple of times, but she'll learn after a short while that biting = no more playing
Wow the snow ❄️ is so pretty, I only like seeing it, having a dog 🐶, completely ended my “happy” relationship, that I use to have with snow ❄️ Parker’s snow looks absolutely awesome! 🤴👍🏻🛎‼️
My puppy likes to bite especially when he’s hyper, I use a spray bottle and it usually works pretty well. Even with other bad behaviors we don’t want him to do
I work at a dog training place, they tell clients to be consistent, it will take time. Do not give her attention, that is your best bet without her being punished. Even talking to her or telling her NO, is giving her attention and she will get the hang of it. Just get up and walk away don’t continue to let her bite you and don’t give her any attention! It will work! ☺️
I have a dog, and when we were training him, my dad used an old pop aluminum can, cut it up, put some bolts in it, and taped the lid back on with duck tape! when she does something bad or something you don’t want her doing, shake it or when she’s older, throw it close to her. Don’t let her see the can though. Make sure you use it to “scare” her
shes going to bite a lot as a puppy because she is gonna be teething for a month or so. but smacking the nose lightly while saying no biting sternly is honestly the best trick with training. you arnt hitting the dog hard and your arnt hurting them but it does teach them well because they dont like it. eventually she will learn just the no biting and you wont have to smack the nose because she will know it will come if she doesnt stop. when she gets a little bigger if you start saying oww she will stop too. both are great. no biting for adult and the ow for little kids who may not know to say know biting. ive trained a bunch of pups and it works well for me. also dont forget to praise her when she does listen! it doesnt happen over night(: you just gotta be patient and work with her consistently
when she bites you or does a bad behavior, just turn around and don’t give her attention and walk away if you have to. same with jumping! i do that with my puppy and it works wonders, and she’s hyperactive. she’s just trying to get attention but if you show her no attention, she won’t do it. and remember to reward good behavior like when she sits to get your attention instead of jumping and biting.
My family taught our bigger dog when he was in the bitting phase to bite lighter by saying “gentle” and he stopped butting us hard and then we also taught him concurrently with “gentle” to say “no/ow” to stop him from bitting when he bites to hard or we don’t want him to play bite with us anymore. We typically say gentle and he’ll stop butting us entirely. With our first dog we tapped her nose and said “no” or we graded her nose and mouth area and said no at the same time and she caught on that bitting was bad.
The method that worked best to keep my puppy from biting was to him them directly in the eyes, sternly say no and gently hold his mouth closed. The eye contact asserts dominance and using a stern tone of voice and facial expression will help her understand that she isn’t allowed to bite you. You don’t want to be too firm with your grip as it could hurt the dogs jaw or get their tongue stuck in their teeth.
You can get a spray that's dog safe that's like apple cider vinegar that you can spray on things and it leaves a bad taste in their mouth and will make them stop biting whatever you spray it on really fast. I wonder if you spray it on your hands when she gets hyper if she would learn to stop biting you?
My mom has a golden doodle and he loved biting when he was a baby. We asked the vet what that meant and he said that it’s a type of domination for them. He stopped biting us when we would say ouch or no in a stern voice. But now he just puts our arm on his mouth and holds it there and now it’s like a comfort thing. We always would put a chew toy in his mouth too
What works for my dogs to stop biting is that I stay still and then say a loud NO, and the either bump her nose or spray water with like a mister in her face
Biting your hands is usually just puppy biting so that’ll fade. If she continues it’s easy to just say “no bites!” Something short but you have to say it in a low, firm voice. This works with my dogs
I have a labradoodle and through the summer he was going through the whole biting phase. We tried a lot of different methods as well and talked with the vet. He’s about 7 months old now and he’s fine. Doesn’t bite at all really unless he’s super riled up. I think it’s ultimately due to teething and such. Once all his baby teeth came out and his adult teeth cane in all the biting slowed down, so just bear with her! It won’t last forever
My dog chewed a lot of stuff (like furniture and hands) and the woman we rescued our dog from suggested putting brown listerine (yes lol) watered down a little bit in a spray bottle, and spraying that on the things they chew and when they bite you just spraying a little in their mouth. It's not bad for them and they don't like the taste or smell. It worked for us really well! All dogs are different though, good luck!
I think the biting habit she will eventually get over it.. it's because she a puppy she wants to play but then again she does not know it's hurting you❤🐶
Luna is teething right now so just stick with some consistent methods, the best ones would be getting her a chew toy with a scent not a stuffed animal with a sound. Also ignoring her when she bites you and moving away from her will help. You just have to stay consistent and trust me I know ignoring the dogs is sooo hard but it will start to work!
Hi Aspen and Parker. I also recently just got a puppy and was having the same issues about the biting that you seem to be having with your new puppy. I’ve also tried everything but it didn’t seem to work until I bought a little spray bottle and every time she would chew on me I would give her a little spritz and it would put a stop to it. Hope that helps if you’d want to try. Love your vlogs btw!
To stop her from biting you, you can also train her by putting butter or something like that on your hands so that she get used to only licking your hands
What we did with my dog to not have her bite is we would say “no bite” and would gently grab her mouth and close it. It took persistence but now we can just gently remind her by saying “no bite” and she stops. We just had to stop playing with her and grab her for her to realize that biting wasn’t okay.
When Luma might be biting you, I have a tip lol! Whenever she bites, push down on her tongue. We did this with our puppy ( a cavapoo whos now 3 ) which was recommended by our vet! It worked and she reacted really well to it! :)
When my puppy kept biting me I would tell her no & if she didn’t stop I would put her down(off the couch/bed) and leave her alone/walk away. Now she literally doesn’t bite me at all. She still bites my bf playfully but not me
Honestly, the high pitched sound should do the job of her biting But if it doesn’t say NO really loud and firm. If that doesn’t work tap her nose and say NO so she can associate NO as a punishment so you won’t have to continue tapping her nose after. You have to be consistent and patient. After a couple times she will catch on and avoid the behavior of biting in order to avoid the punishment of that loud NO. This is what I did with my 4 dogs. :)
if she's biting and jumping you should leave the room for a second so that she isn't rewarded for biting and then come back after a minute or so and you can keep doing that until she calms down
When she bites fold her “gums” on her milk teeth. This will give the sensation of you biting her back. Do it to the point she is uncomfortable. It takes about a week to really see the results, it works!
Put a treat in your hand and let her nibble until she realises you wont give her the treat until she stops and moves away it works perfectly for puppies 🐶
The best way to stop is when she starts you get up suddently and stay away from her for a while. She will eventually understand that when she bites you leave.
all our other dogs worked with the bop on the nose but our new dog (golden retriever) is so happy he doesn’t care lol but we’ve learned that flicking him on the head works 🤷🏼♀️😂

AARRGGGH LUMA IS THE CUTEST THING just like her mamma 🤪❤
give her carrots it helps with teething cause the main reason she is biting is because her teeth are growing in so cold carrots are a good substitute
Aspyn talking about how Luma is so huge as my two 40+ lb dogs are laying next to me 😂😂
Omg i’m so jealous that you get to see Cody Ko and Noel Miller! I love them they’re so funny!!
Yes those are amazing candy bars. You should also try the a chunky and a Cadbury fruit & nut bar. SO GOOD

i read to let them bite you and when they stop biting reward them with their toy or a treat. so enforcing when bad things stop good things happen.

put butter or peanut butter on ur hands for a few days, at certain times, to teach her to lick ur hands not bite
You guys are bestie girl goals
So early!!! Hope you all have a great Christmas! 💕
Adelaine has a product that works with Lola. Sho showed it on her last vlog.
To stop her from biting you, you can also train her by putting butter or something like that on your hands so that she get used to only licking your hands

When Luma might be biting you, I have a tip lol! Whenever she bites, push down on her tongue. We did this with our puppy ( a cavapoo whos now 3 ) which was recommended by our vet! It worked and she reacted really well to it! :)
When she bites you press her tongue down with your thumb with light pressure and tell her no biting, I did it with my dog and it eventually worked!
When my puppy kept biting me I would tell her no & if she didn’t stop I would put her down(off the couch/bed) and leave her alone/walk away. Now she literally doesn’t bite me at all. She still bites my bf playfully but not me
Where are your jeans from!? I love them! 💕❤️❤️
Honestly, the high pitched sound should do the job of her biting But if it doesn’t say NO really loud and firm. I love you guys vlog ❤️😍
I love the relationship bestie girls. I live 4 hrs from my best friend and it sucks 😔
if she's biting and jumping you should leave the room for a second so that she isn't rewarded for biting and then come back after a minute or so and you can keep doing that until she calms down
When she bites fold her “gums” on her milk teeth.
I love little Luma's name
I've heard that using a can of compressed air or shaking a can with coins in it can make them stop biting cause they don't like the sound of either!
