  • HASC hosted a member information session to discuss Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Programs (IRAPs) available through Dallas College. IRAPs help workers gain relevant skills and faster access to high-quality careers while providing employers an additional recruiting pipeline. The new apprenticeship model combines paid work experience with an educational component, resulting in an industry-recognized credential.
Dallas College has created IRAPs in health care culinary services, sterile processing, MRI and supply chain positions, with more programs underway. In this session, HASC’s Lisa Mitchell and Teri Hollingsworth introduce panelists Amy Mackenroth, Dallas College; Jeremy Sadlier, American Society for Healthcare Human Resource Administration (ASHRRA); and Roy Swift (retired), Workcred. The speakers share details and answer questions about the apprenticeships.
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Employment and Training Administration. HASC encourages members to use this special grant opportunity to help upskill and retain current staff, as well as recruit new employees for hard-to-fill and specialized roles.
