Difficulty: 6/10 (at Level 160+)
Strategy: This boss has a lot of health (about 4 times more than the Jagged Peak Dragons you faced earlier). It also attacks faster and hits harder, using red lightning. Easiest strategy is again with mage. Summon your Mimic Tear ashes at the start. Get behind the dragon, cast Terra Magica to buff your magic damage, consume Wondrous Flask with Cerulean Hidden Tear (infinite mana), fire Comet Azur spell to deal it a lot of damage. Then keep blasting it with Comet Azur from behind while your Mimic Tear distracts it. Always stay on your mount, don't walk on foot. This makes it easier to get away from the dragon when it's about to attack. Most of its red lightning attacks only affect the ground in a short radius around it and are easily prevented by riding away. Bring mostly mana bottles because casting Comet Azur will quickly drain your mana. Not getting hit shouldn't be a huge issue after you familiarized with the dragon's moveset and stay out of its danger zone. When your Mimic Tear dies, ride away from the dragon and cast Rock Sling spell WHILE FACING AWAY FROM IT. The Rock Sling will automatically home in on it, even when you look away from the boss. The dragon doesn't attack as much when you are not facing it / riding away, because it will try to catch up to you to close the distance (as its attack have short range it can't do much from afar). You just have to stay in the ideal range where it tries to chase you / doesn't attack you, but your Rock Sling can still hit it, basically the outer perimeter where your Rock Sling can still hit. Always ride a little bit further in front of the dragon, shoot another Rock Sling, rinse and repeat. If the dragon attacks, dash away quickly ( :circle: / :b: ) to build more distance, it won't hit you then. If it flies up in the air for a charge attack, dash sideways on your mount and jump up before it lands ( :x: / :a: ), this will dodge it. Its other long-range attack is fire breath which it shoots in a straight line, easily avoided by riding sideways. If it makes the ground glow red or casts red spears in its hands just ride away as it'll only hit the ground around itself over a short distance. Keep an eye on your remaining mana flasks, stop using Comet Azur when you only got 2-3 left and switch to Rock Sling spell then.

@@BrianMorataya-wt9tw in real life (and also in this game) water is a good conductor for electricity.
So, all the dragon electric attacks turns into AOE.
So, even if you avoid the lightning attack, it will still strike you by the water that you are standing on (just observe how the his elrctric attacks spread through the water)

@@BrianMorataya-wt9tw also there's a bonus increase to all lightning attacks in water 10 or 20%, I don't remember... But yeah, pair that with the fact the lightning spreads in the water... It's rough.
This boss is unexpectedly hard. I was killing dragon after dragon, thought this one wouldn't be so different. Boy was I wrong...
It’s because this game makes u think artificial difficulty is a good thing lol 😭😭unfairness doesn’t make for a good game

It’s a dishonorable cheese but for those struggling there is a trick to this fight … engage the dragon and do damage with range … you can then retreat down the path you took up to his lake … the boss will reset but his health won’t heal … you can, in essence, chip away from his health with range attacks and retreat as he gets close enough to use his aoe and flame attacks …
@@uzik00sh65 So far I have no problems with DLC other than this. The fight after this was way easier than this one. They need to tune this down. It just screams flawed balance. They either need to tune the HP or damage, preferably HP.

Ancient Dragon Senessax cheese is riding torrent with lorettas mastery and running back through the path you came, as Senessax follows he will despawn. Then you ride back to the arena and he will slow walk towards you, it will give just enough time for one or two shot. Then repeat when he depawns down the path

Scadutree fragment hunting will likely still be effective, im with you being exclusively melee
Yeah, I am a duo hammer melee and I just reached this boss. Round 1 I got it to ~10% and every one round after that I couldn't get pass the 80% mark. I don't want to learn another build just for this fight 😅

Ride around on Torrent and shoot black flame balls at it. Easy strat

By far the worst boss in the entire souls series. I would fight four smelter demons at once over this.
Bayal Jagged peak boss was easier than this dood.

Quick question is this dragon a sibling to both Fortisax and laneassax or just a random independent ancient dragon
You can cheese this thing with the classic hit and run strat. Use status effect arrows (I suggest a good range bow and arrows that travel farther) or black flame, then run away like a baby. The boss will teleport once it leaves the arena and its hp won't reset. This strat should work with all field bosses.
Tipp: Use the Dragons Hunter Great Katana, aim at his heat and use Dragonwound Slash.
You know what’s fun about this fight? How he one-taps my horse and me struggling to get up to heal and afterwards getting splattered by an incoming claw or bite.
I did it no damage on the third try. You just have to run through him with Torrent and give him a couple of hits then move away. Double jump when you hear the sound of lightning. I used the arm of Malenia but any weapon will work...I suggest bleed or poison
So as a melee player I’m fucked? I’d be fine if there wasn’t water, every attack is dodgable it’s just the AOEs
If anyone is stuck on this Torrent is the easiest way to do it without "cheesing" .
Emulate a jousting match
Hit it a couple times and leave while he charges his moves.
Long and tedious but a lot simpler.

Bring him up to the cliff (leads to next area) and every lightning attack won't hit you

The camera is harder than the boss kind of sad they were lazy and put in bosses from the base game.
I defeated him by using Torrent the whole time. I used a bleed weapon. Go in, attack a few times then go out. Stay out of the water if you can.

Using torrent trivializes the Aoe, didn’t get hit once. Praise the horse🙌
This is probably the most frustrating ER boss… all the ancient dragons were BS in main game but this is almost unbearable

Everything in this DLC was over tuned. I've been able to just endurance check all the bosses I've ran into, but this one is a damage sponge with 1 shot AOE.

@savageman6 I have no idea, but on the wiki it says there's no multiplayer, I'd tell him to use rot breath and swarm of flies, probably gonna need larval tears

Just another god awful dogshit fight full of nothing but aoe spam and double dodge mandatory moves. They really gave up on this game lol, its just all gimmicks now.
