I think something not a lot of people realize is that Revenge of the King's ending marks the end of Dedede's role as an antagonist. Any further times you fight him in the main series are either as rivals, as misunderstandings, or when he's being controlled. He's been defeated so many times that he just gives up villainy. I can't name many times that's happened in a long-standing game series before.

That ending really scarred me when I was younger. Just the sight of seeing Dedede walking off into the desert with a sad defeated look on his face and realizing the fact that I just kicked Dedede out of his own home really filled me with guilt. Just look at him, that is the face of someone Dededead inside.

Years later I understand what it means. When Dedede said this would be the last battle he meant it. Outside of being a pawn manipulated by a greater threat he's never fought Kirby again since. He's accepted that he can't win. He really gave it his all this time and it just wasn't enough.

I don't know which one I like better, the revenge of the King ending or the Revenge of Meta Knight ending. They both sound like you have achieved something, from that point on, Meta Knight has never had a particularly bad role in a Kirby game and King DeDeDe becomes and Anti - hero just like Meta Knight does. It is kind of sad.
These endings basically proved that Kirby is literally unstoppable and no one can defeat him because no matter how hard Meta Knight or King DeDeDe try they can not stop him.
Love the juxtaposition. Kirby rides triumphantly off into the sunset while Dedede walks back to his castle down in the dumps knowing his rivalry ended with him losing.

Oh that's funny I guess you don't 100% Kirby games. Kirby games are the most fun and challenging games to 100%. The story mode has definitely gotten easier and could be better done but Kirby still gets really difficult. Probably some of the most difficult games I've ever played. The only game that I can think of that is harder is 100% hollow knight but it's more torture than fun.
I wonder if Kirby Fighters 2 is supposed to take place after the events of these 2 games. Both Meta Knight and King Dedede were defeated by Kirby so they decide that teaming up together to take control is the best course of action if they want to be on top. This creates on bond between them and is shown throughout the entire game.

Had KIRBY RIGHT BACK AT YA had just one final moment with King Dedede, I can pretty much see it all. (NME was destroyed. Nightmare Enterprises was nothing more than a bad memory to all. King Dedede however is looking severely sad as he is seen walking past his wrecked castle all alone, not sure what to do now that his main source of terrorizing and getting rid of Kirby is gone forever) King Dedede: (sighs) I lost everything.
