i don't know if its just the context of the album, but the dissonant, distant droning of the guitars in this album reminds me quite a lot of a few of the tracks that British Sea Power did for the game disco elysium's soundtrack
@OriginalMrocco yeah! guitars that sound not reverb soaked...but reverb submerged. Love Disco Elysium btw \o/ some very intelligent game writing with that one.
the number is now over 40,000, 18,000 of the children. our children will ask what we did to stop the genocide. stand up, speak and ORAGNIZE. at your school, at your workplace, on the streets, in your community. please. lives depend on it, on us, especially in the US.
that number is from may, theres been new reports estimating it as high as 200-300k because thats the amount of people missing and stuck under the rubble of collapsed buildings
@@evandixon9331 The official count from the health ministry is 40k as of october this year, but many ngos think that number is an undercount by a factor of 8. And that is not even including the wounded and displaced, in which half the country is.
About some of the confusion regarding the sounds on pale spectator, the synth-like sounds is just violin with a bunch of pedals, and the weird percussive instrument is most likely hammered dulcimer.
Yeah, deffo was violin through effects pedals. The percussion is either hammered dulcimer or some kind of cymbal. Either way, I know that Aidan Girt, one of the two drummers, is who plays it from live footage I've seen.
recs: Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles (Sick sounding early 90s math/indie rock, awesome guitar tone) Swirlies - Blonder Tongue Audio Baton (GORGEOUS unique sounding early 90s shoegaze, sounds like mbv, pavement, guided by voices with twee pop mixed in, so awesome, better than Loveless imo) Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes (Unique folk-punk, early 80s college/alt rock, very catchy) Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque (Really catchy power pop, slightly shoegazey, same label as The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine) Quasi - Featuring "Birds" (Awesome Built to Spill-esque/Pacific Northwest indie rock, same label as Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Duster etc) The Breeders - Pod (Unique early 90s alt rock, Steve Albini prod, was in Kurt Cobain's top 3 albums of all time) Slint - Tweez (Sick late 80s post-hardcore/math rock, also Steve Albini prod) Pinback - Pinback (Very chill and creative late 90s indie rock) Modest Mouse - This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About (Amazing album, basically as good as The Lonesome Crowded West) The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land (badass big-beat dance music) Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand (lovely 90's lo-fi) Hella - Hold Your Horse Is (Math Rock with the drummer from Death Grips, before he was in Death Grips) Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (Absolutely perfect 90's indie rock album)
Nice to see some love for Quasi and the Swirlies, not enough out there. The "What To Do About Them" EP was a heavy rotation cassette for me, bitd. Great list, all in all --
I believe that number only encapsulates identified corpses, some analysts have said that a more accurate number would be over 100,000 dead. Gaza is the size of Detroit with over three times the population, so when you have 2 million people in that small strip of land plus one of the heaviest bombing campaigns of the 21st century, a number like 100,000 makes a lot of sense.
@@vita7456 That is factual. The deaths presented on the title are of the ones that can be fully accounted to being dead. It's a tragedy, but the numbers go way above the mentioned 42.344 people and they are likely to be on 200k and above by now.
Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "river to sea"? That the state of Israel should cease to exist? And if so, where should its citizens go?
Free it from what? From Hamas, a political organization run by religious fanatics who are controlling Gaza, I assume? P.S. Smags, don't ban me, please, I'm a fan of your reactions and not a troll
I really hope you'd do After the Magic or Sky Hundred by Parannoul next. There is a full album lyric video of After the Magic by Parannoul himself in his official channel, and there is a fanmade full album lyric video of the Sky Hundred uploaded recently including the unreleased one.
LP5 by Autechre, you said they kinda sounded like Aphex Twin but this album is where i feel like they really start branching out to a more distinct sound. Hope you check it out, keep up the good work 🙏
FUCK YEEEEAAAH, album of the year for me Some recs (don't think you've reviewed these): Women - Public Strain Sigur Ros - () Beach House - Teen Dream Portishead - Portishead Love the videos mate :)

I really recommend to try to find the last untitled song that's only on the D-side of the vinyl version. It's a 13 minute continuation of Grey Rubble. And it's painful. As hopeful as Grey Rubble - Green Shoots is towards the end, the untitled track is a reminder that things still are not okay. In my interpretation. Also, I picked up Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada at the same time as this record, because the store finally had it. Such an incredible EP - highly recommend it as well :)
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MY GUY a few recommendations: Ghosts of the Great Highway - Sun Kil Moon SMILE :D - Porter Robinson (pop-punk, pop, electronic) Process - Sampha (experimental r&b, great production) Koi No Yokan - Deftones (very heavy, sexier and heavier radiohead imo) Hypochondriac - Brakence (very experimental emo rap, glitch pop) Reading Writing And Arithmetic - The Sundays (the smiths ish, with beautiful female vocals)
I don't know if this is the best one to have listened to if you weren't prepared to have a take on the album's themes. It seems like it maybe undercuts what the album is trying to do to react to it purely aesthetically without addressing its content in a substantive way. Still love your content! Would love to see more Xiu Xiu
It feels weird to make a spectacle out of reacting to this album without addressing the concept. GYBE always makes music that is inspired by timely events. I understand it’s an instrumental album so you were probably unaware of the album’s theme but let’s say there is a very… relevant and historical event occurring somewhere in the world right now (avoiding the shadowban here)
smags, u should check out benji by sun kil moon. It reminds me a little of a crow looked at me by mount eerie in terms of the sincerity and topics of death. It’s not exactly an uplifting one but id think you’d really enjoy it
You should Give Kent a try. Swedish radiohead kinda. Try the album Vapen & Ammunition. It's in swedish and works best in swedish (they tried english for some projects). Read with english translations of course. Very emotional lyrics.
You should listen to Wings by Repulsive, very interesting and spooky dark ambient album that I think would fit very well with the current month. Btw great review as always.
Just binged like 5 of your videos and love your style my guy! Would 100% recommend listening to Yves Tumor’s “Heaven to a tortured mind” (ps free Palestine! ❤)

Bro, I "can't sing if he's pushing back effigy"
There's a D side on the 2LP which consists of the perfect ending. They made a drone/ambient song based on Grey Rubble.

the guitar tones really reminded me of the album "Agora" by Fennesz. Specifically "We Trigger the Sun"
ohh i see that. i mean i hear that i guess. good catch
