I guess this is where I say that Gokenin Zankuro must have gotten it's inspiration from Nakadai's character in this movie. The parallels are so many that I could actually imagine Ken Watanabe doing Nakadai's character. Anyways, I so totally enjoyed the way the story here was unraveled, the twists and turns and the not so "Zatoichi" type final mob swordfight in the last segment. The fights choreo was also amazing and must have been difficult to film especially fights that involved mobs and "random groups". I salute Nakadai on his acting prowess, his character sketch is ingenious and well executed. Acting like an idiot and useless bum in the beginning, then transforming into a samurai with serious warrior chops. He's really amazing. Thanks once again Shacho S-vs-N, you have given us another gem to enjoy. Domo! Otsukare!

Koji Yakusho starred re-make of this Movie in 2000 as “Doraheita”. Yakusho also made “13 Assassins “ in 2010. Tatsuya Nakadai was starred both original movies as we see on this channel. Both actors have their own unique interpretations of the original novels.
1:29:25 The expression of the ending section is weird and disturbing to the audience. Besides, It absolutely does not please the ears and I don't like it at all.
