Both versions are great, I just can't get over the way the lyrics sound more natural in this version, the new version just sound like he edited the lyrics, instead of recording them again
A lot of times it depends on what you hear first. I've heard the album version countless times now and am only now hearing this version. So my perception is opposite of most everybody else here it seems. So from that perspective, this version sounds sort of unpolished but that's not a bad thing at all. It's got a charm to it for sure. I also feel like maybe this version might not have matched the flow of the album, production wise.
they both sound better, I think the only reason people were raging over getting this one removed is because of the nostalgia and couldn't take in the newer version properly, personally they both absolutely slap
Both versions are fantastic. As someone who listed to the album version first a bunch of times before listening to this, I think I prefer this. But both are really good
I wish he could bring this back on Spotify 😭 it’s the type of song anybody could dance to at a party & I love how to brings me back to when I met my first love ❤️ btw, I still hate you;)
why are people saying that this one is better??? Kevin edited it to his liking, both are good... let’s appreciate the music he’s putting out for us....
Of course it's a personal preference thing. For me personal I feel the original version has this subtle snappy rythm that makes me want to walk to the beat. The new version has got a to heavy synth line that is to dominant for my liking.
@@memequeen2189 this version has a vocal echo at the beginning, some of the lyrics are in different order, and there are various instrumental changes in both versions. not to mention, when he says "here i go, quite a show..." in the album version, in this it is "There i go, quite a show..."
Apart from making the song 35 seconds shorter, these are most of the changes: “The Intro: The first change is the deletion of Parker’s opening croon. Instead, the song is introduced with a kick-drum and a slow rumble. The first vocals, tinny keyboard and um, whatever that suction sound is at 0:26 are still the same on the new cut, but a little louder in the mix. However, it’s the newly-amplified bassline that people will appreciate most. Plus, the awesome Eastern flutes that didn’t originally rock up until 1:11 are now right there from 0:31. The First Verse: There’s now a second keyboard accompanying Parker, though it’s eventually swallowed whole by the wall of sound already established by the intro. At 1:25 on the album, it shimmers away and into the bridge, whereas previously, it took until 1:45 to get to that spaced-out place. The Middle: The fuzzed-out bassline is much fuzzier and and louder here, beginning from the 1:50 mark. The End: Maybe the most disappointing change is Parker’s decision to jettison the meat of Verse 3, dropping its more contemplative lyrics: ‘How could I have known?/ How was I to know this high came rushing?/ I said, 'Come with me outside'/ Need to clear my mind, this weight is crushing/ Do you see the light, oh, coming from their eyes?/ Oh no/ And I couldn't get away.’ Instead, he goes for a bigger Michael Jackson-inspired finish, cooing: ‘They used to do this all the time in college/ And we're on the borderline (Ooh)/ Caught between the tides of pain and rapture.’ (The ‘ooh’ bit is where he sounds like MJ.) It all ends with the fuzziest bassline yet. The Most Inexplicable Change: In the original ‘Borderline,’ he kicks off the bridge by singing, ‘There I go.’ Now, he says, ‘Here I go.’” Source: studentedge.org/article/heres-how-and-why-tame-impala-kevin-parker-changed-borderline-for-the-slow-rush

i wish he kept the original mix. it just feels more organic and cool
Both version slap, I really don’t understand why people make such a deal out of Kevin deleting the original one.
Cause it was better
I gaslighted myself into thinking this version didn't exist

Massive F for the best version
This version is waaaay better - Kevin what were you thinking?
They played this version of this song at Target. That's how l learned that there was a different version of this song.
Both versions are fantastic. As someone who listed to the album version first a bunch of times before listening to this, I think I prefer this. But both are really good

@@AnimeVip wow that was really insightful, at first I didn't catched the differences
i’m sorry but new version is way better, you can hear all the ideas he grew upon here, hell yeah kev
used to be able to tell the difference can someone tell me i just don’t get it anymore
does anyone know why he made the new version?
Maybe for the sake of diversity.
He smoked too much weed, overthought, got paranoid
Put on soundcloud plzzzz!!!!
KEVIN WHY
I prefer this version and bought it on iTunes only for it to all of a sudden disappear.. Wtf?!
He shoulda put this in the b side 😭
We posting mix tapes now?? Follow me on sound cloud lol
カCompaBaka 🤧 I ain’t talented enough for that, I just uploaded this because the original one was removed in Spotify and RUclips.
Why does everyone say this is better than the final version. I think the final version is definitely better
The album version is 1000x better
