DIY Woodworking - Toddler/Kiddies Bed - My Child's First Bed

  • It's time for my boy to move over to his own bed.
    In this video, I build a toddler/kiddies bed for my 2-year-old son. The bed needed to be low enough for him to get in and out himself. It also required rails so he wouldn't roll off the bed while sleeping. Finally, I also wanted to add some storage under the bed for toys or clothes.

    For this project, I drew inspiration from Casual DIY's version of a toddler bed. Though different, his was the starting point for my design.

    It's great to see the shop in use for other things than just more shop furniture as well. And I think it can be a great inspiration for some people. Some other woodworkers can seem a bit far removed from normal folks with their fancy tools. Sure, you've got some fancy tools as well, but not quite to the same degree.
    Hope you're all doing well.

    I liked the none shop orientated video from time to time. Reminders of of why most of us have shops, for the stuff we can produce from them.

  • @FelixDK14
    @FelixDK14 6 месяцев назад +11

    I like the non shop focused videos. With all the shop upgrades, the non shop videos give us a bit of context of the type of stuff you use your tools for outside the shop. Constantly upgrading the shop and tools start to loose meaning when all it looks like it for is to constantly upgrade it more. A mix of the two is nice.

    Another voice saying that we don't mind seeing project videos. There's only so much "small shop organization" that a guy can do without running out of projects or redoing existing ones. So go for it. I'm here for it.

    I would disagree with the comment that this project is off topic, Woodworking is also using the shop, and what no better way that you can demonstrate how the shop infrastructure that you've built out works in the context of a project once in a while. And I'm sure you son will love his new bed. Cheers.

I will love to make my grand kid one once he/she is here in a few months and when the cot becomes to small. As you can hear I still have some time to go till then but I will remember this video.

    I loved this project and will definitely build one for my little niece who just turned 2 yr old. However, I really prefer your shop related projects. There are loads of channels that show how to build all of the "regular" woodworking things like furniture, but there are few who make the kinds of highly thought out and yet easily built shop projects for the person with very limited space.

Even if it may seem a bit 'more generic' or 'less interesting' I still very much appreciate your take on building and creating things.
