I am looking forward to this "series" as I got into dressmaking to make clothes that fit my growing bust and belly (menopause). I have watched loads of courses on Craftsy, but not many do it well on RUclips. I much prefer this style of vlog rather than people just talking about what they made and what fabric they bought. In fact, I have unsubscribed from a lot of them this year. Well done!

I’ve been sewing up a storm and have made 12 garments so far and all in stash fabrics too. I've been sewing for quite a while but fit is starting to be a challenge for me as I get older (also needing a full tummy adjustment among other things). @@claire5951 thanks Claire. I sewed for years making things straight out of the envelope and just put up with the bad fit. I think slicing and sticking patterns frightened me a bit, but tracing patterns has given me the courage to play with patterns, knowing I have my original pattern in pristine condition. Also I'm older and my body is not 'straight out of the envelope' shaped. I'm enjoying playing and experimenting. Most of my fabric is no longer available because it's years old. Happy sewing ❤️
Thank you Kim. I think a tummy adjustment is what I need instead of just grading out to a bigger size down the sides. I also need to make a shoulder adjustment to keep the shirt from shifting back. I'm always pulling my shirts forward. I think that's a forward shoulder adjustment but I'll have to check. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm so glad you found the new Butterick pattern. I discovered it when trying to find your original. I believe everything is the same except the cover pictures on the envelope. They fit the current look of Butterick patterns but I think the original shows the blouses much better. I love that you showed the finished shirt after the tutorial. Great video. Good luck with plan.

Impressive information, watching how they grew one cup in less than a month was admittedly surprising, I went with what I commented about Mika Klopsworth, although confess it took a full 6 weeks to become 2 cups bigger. Took a bit longer yes, bur googling what she posted, definitely they’re fuller and firmer than I expected

I bought a 150m roll years ago and have been steadily working my way through it. In the UK it's available from Fabric Land and William Gee. You can also buy it off Amazon, but smaller pieces are usually more expensive. Look for suppliers near you that sell maybe 10m it's more cost effective! It takes lots of time to edit the tutorials. I'm getting better at it, so hopefully will push more out as I go along this year. Thank you for watching. ❤️

I think pattern companies occasionally update the older patterns. I had understood that upper bust was the measurement we were supposed to use, and then adjust if the full bust is more than two sizes bigger, but it's not something I have done on a regular basis, unless the pattern tells you to use that as the base measurement. Gone are the days when we used to open a pattern and just cut and go! I discovered I need to lower the bust point or dart. You've managed a great fit with the shirt - it looks lovely.
@@Yorkygirl59 Thanks Diane. Pattern measurements can be so confusing. I find if I use the bust measurement for my full bust it's too big on my shoulders. My bust is way lower now and I will always do a FBA. I really enjoyed making this shirt and was so pleased the fit was better. Happy sewing ❤️
I thought she was going to alter her existing shirt by adding a pannel to the side seams. It would make a good video but sometimes adding fabric that complements the existing fabric is problematic. Fabric is pretty expensive here so it's cheaper to but a premaid shirt and a garment for extra fabric than to start from scratch. There's always a glut of women's clothing that goes on clearance on the off season. They produce much more than we could ever wear.
