@frombrum: I know what you mean. I love my Supra, but there's also something awesome about being able to push a car to its limits, without being too worried about wrapping yourself around tree, lol
Had a 2020 rag top, absolutely best bang for the buck sports car on the planet, would have liked another 30 hp, but did not diminish the fun factor at all, sold it, bought a 2024 Nissan Z with performance trim package, got a speeding ticket, first day I owned it, should have kept the MX-5
I had a 2017 Miata RF GT. Bought it for $29,000 as a leftover in 2018. Sold it after 4.5 years and 12,000 miles for $27,000. Couldn't resist the crazy used car market for a car that largely sat in my garage idle. Only put 3,000 miles a year on it. That said, looking for a new sports car. I could get another Miata, although it would be a ragtop this time. The ragtop is 100 pounds lighter than the hardtop. Also, Mine came with 155 HP, and the newer Miatas come with 181 HP, so it would be a nice little performance jump. But the Nissan Z is on my radar too. My question to you... Is the Z worth it? Is it THAT much more fun than the Miata? Does its performance envelope make up for the fact that you can no longer open the top on a gorgeous day?
@@MrBTRDAYZThe Z is a fine sports car, and more powerful than the Miata. But make no mistake: it is NOT “more fun” than the MX-5. Review after review come to the very same conclusion: the Miata is just about the MOST FUN car you can drive. And that’s at any price. That’s because, its sublime handling and tossability aside, it’s a blast to drive AT ALL SPEEDS. That includes a 35 mph drive to Starbucks to get coffee. No other car can make that claim. Not one.
@@MrBTRDAYZ- Well, to me, the Miata RF is the best bang for the buck! I have the 2023. The Nisan with a manual is more expensive and not ore fun. There is nothing else at the Miata price with the styling etc etc
Interesting changes. I like the taillight design when lit up and Mazda finally has OEM LED front turn signals (possibly rears too)? Is the traction control system 2 stage with the 2 separate buttons? One for traction control off with stability control on and then the one with the flag is a more relaxed stability control system? Infotainment has a nice welcome upgrade. I still need to get CarPlay retrofitted into my ND1. Definitely looks like Mazda changed the dashboard design to fit the new infotainment screen so I can't imagine retrofitting will be possible for ND1/2's.
This is it, Mazdemons! The Last of The ICE ND2 Breed, before hybridization. Get 'em while they.last....being the very last edition with the LED and nav upgrades, there will always be a special and singular kind of "carma" around the '24 models long into the future.....
So track mode keeps KPC in operation and the other doesnt, I havent driven yet, so will see about those indicators maybe on future video, thanks for watching!! april 27th 930-130 we have another car meet if you want to roll by, hopefully have at least 50 degree weather by then lol
@@JamesOrtonVideo curious to hear your thoughts on it when you drive it. I’ll end up keeping mine, but maybe I’ll check out an ND3 in person sometime soon! And drag, the WCMC has their tour on 4/27, otherwise I’d be going. Is there one planned for the fall/season closer?
They are not all required to, the best approach is to introduce yourself to your preferred dealer and ask if they would accept it, I wish we could advertise it more but they dont, have your membership completed first
James , Bond by any chance ? This is the coolest machine on wheels and all the more potent in this particular colour . PS : you did not mention the cost of the ejector seat option !!
@@evilAshTheDog someone mentioned it on one of the ND Facebook pages on their new to them ND3 that you can go into the settings to enable the touch screen while in motion. I’ve personally always been a fan of using the controller in the center console. I hate finger prints haha.
So if it had the Skyactiv treatment of rev matching and such I would be down to get an automatic, but as far as I know its still an uninspiring downshift as is currently
Wish Maza would go back to a complete convertible like the 2015 HTC.....the RF is nice....but nowhere near as nice as a full convertible hardtop like the prior model.
hey that's so cool of you to mention SCCA. I had absolutely no idea about this. I hope i can find a dealer in Houston TX that will honor this. I just may purchase my membership this month. @@JamesOrtonVideo
I liked those too, but you can always add underglow, when I have the means I would probably end up with a used one with the fangs too, thanks for watching!
I looked this car up. I see quite a few used mx5 gt models with 3k, 5k, and 7k miles on them for sale. I noticed the same thing when i googled the toyota cellica gr or whatever its called...the 3cyl hotrod. Not a good sign when there's a ton of barely used new vehicles up for sale with low miles. Kinda tells me somebody is not honoring their warranties very well...huh toyota??!!😡
Thanks for watching, its probably in the area of 60-70 % of buyers for the MX5 and Miata, wont drive it as much as can be, more recreation and storage in winter, so trades with low miles for that reason is common, the GR I havent been around, but you say there is a problem with those?
i love my 2017 RF
fun without too much risk of sudden death
Haha, I feel that! Thanks for watching!

I have a 2023 RF in deep crystal blue mica with the terracotta leather seats and absolutely love it. Such a fun car to drive.
gorgeous paint they dont charge extra for, nice combo, safe travels and thanks for being an owner!!

Even a Porsche Boxster isn’t more fun … AT TWICE …OR MORE MONEY! $$
Nice the MX5 will be a classic car
Gorgeous car! I have a 2023 in jet black also. Love it!!
Thanks for adding, safe travels!!
I didn't miss that FB in the upper deck.. Looks like a GSL by the wheels. The RF is dope too :)
Right on! another Legend, thanks for adding!
Gorgeous. The black and dark blue paint colors really bring out the lines of this car.
Thanks for watching and adding!!
TY James for that SCCA membership mention to get the S Plan pricing. Was that available in 2016 too ?
yes it was, thanks for watching!
Can't wait for the 35th Anniversary Edition or the Spirit Racing version.
Absolutely, I am so happy they are doing that!!

Can you tap the screen to control it while driving? While using wireless Apple CarPlay?
Nope , its disabled for safety. Wireless CarPlay probably is the same. Have to use the dial when moving.

If you hack the infotainment, you can do that on all the mx5s. Look for Mazda AIO Tweaks.
Man i have a 2023 and that stitching on the center console + the new screen make this model worth it!

My car
Love it ❤❤❤
I had a 2017 RF, beautiful car, fabulous to drive. Great Great Car
This is the only car i desire apart from The Porsche 911's and The Porsche Taycan❤❤❤❤
I could go for a 911 too, the way that sounds when rung out! thanks for adding!
It would be more fun for 1/3 of the price .
is the SCCA price good for special orders or only what is on the lot
They can be used for factory orders, just share your thoughts with the dealer with initial visit.

Why is there two traction control buttons?
track mode where KPC (kinematic posture control) is still active, or DSC where KPC is not active, thanks for the question, and watching!
Glad Mazda deleted the front LED fog lamps for 2024, they just didn't look great, they looked out of place. Much cleaner without them.

I dont see that happening, I believe 2025 will offer the new Mazda Spirit line
