It comes to show that even if people blamed Bart for beheading the statue of Jebediah Springfield from the season 1 episode the telltale head it was only just to impress the 3 older bullies and end up having to regret the action later after everyone in Springfield reacted with horror. Therefore, he earned their respect after placing the head back on the statue which was an acceptable excuse for an episode coming from the show’s early years. Now this one just shows nothing but a bad example of ugly parenting with all the citizens of Springfield including Homer himself jeering at Bart for accidentally dropping the fly ball and struggling to pick it up only for the Shelbyville to win the game and everyone forcibly start harassing Bart and even La Boot was a fucking hypocrite to him when he found out his name while trying to comfort him which doesn’t even stray away for the episode’s mean spiritedness not even helping is seeing Bart cry is the most sadistic thing the writers ever put in. This is an episode I’ll never forget and regret the day I watched it from day one.
@@jeddflanders9394 But, one of the worst things about it (besides the unnecessary cruelty or the fact that the writers were like "lol, suicide is funny", when Bart tried to kill himself) is the fact that the townspeople NEVER get punished for the way they treated Bart. The ending was also stupid, where they just replayed the last inning. I'm not an expert on sports, so, correct me if I'm wrong, but, I'm pretty sure that once you've missed the winning catch, it's too late to fix it. I saw this episode before, for those who saw it I agree that this episode was mean spirited, cruel, and painful to watch. I really feel bad and sorry for Bart for being hated by people at Springfield.
