am always surprised by how much variation there is in black inks: suspect most people have their favourite which they stick to, for me it’s actually two favourites: Pelikan 4001 brilliant black and Aurora black but it’s interesting to see others:); thanks for this
You're most welcome, Angus! And yes, it is surprising - warm and cool; greys or other colors called black that don't look black; blacks that look black until you smear or dilute them; blacks that actually look like very, very dark green, blue, or red - who woulda thunk it? 😁 The hard part is when I can't get swatch or smear images the right "color" - very annoying! 😠
When I first got it I was a little disappointed because I expected a black black. To me it looked green black. But now I appreciate that it´s a slightly different black.
This is probably the only ink from Rohrer e Klingner that I don't like, from it's properties to the color itself, weird that the most basic color is the one they effed up, their Ebony limited edition was a much better black.
Sorry you didn't enjoy it, Paul. I never use black ink, so it's sort of academic to me. It does have enough color in it that I suspect one will only enjoy it if they want some off-black-ness to their black. 😅

😊 Expectation can really have a strong impact. Glad you can appreciate it now. And yeah, definitely has that hint of green.
"It's Black"
🤣 Well said!
