Im pretty sure thats Scp-035
It's downright criminal 👏
The Masked is actually a great way to implement the mimic idea. They didnt lean too much into the horror and too much into the comedy and fits the game perfectly.
Given how bad communication can be having straight up mimic enemies is definitely OP so this was a good way to fit the idea but have it be fairly easy to tell.
They should've made them look more like the player characters. The mask is kinda creepy, but it would've been way creepier to always have that uncertainty of "wait, is that my friend being silent or are they a monster?"

They can also possess dead bodies, if they are nearby.
My friends were dead because of the maskeds and they went out from the fire exit and entered to the main entrance towards me in Titan, it was certainly an experience.
Just had a game where I was at ship and there were dogs out, the only survivor in our group got back to the ship so I started the ship, didnt look at them and it turned out that they were a mimic lmfao
My friends and I discovered the masks organically. We brought a mask back to the ship as well as a crewmates body. When the mask makes contact with a corpse it automatically takes it over. We were very confused as to why our friend’s body just got up and started walking.
You’ve just given me an idea for a scrap item that can revive dead crewmates. In an attempt to make it balanced, you could make it a rare scrap item, (maybe even locked to later moons) and you have to stand still in order to use it.
Idk if the base game really needs it, but it might make for an interesting mod.

It would be fun if the mask gives you some incredible power (temporarily see monsters through walls, temporarily see loot through walls, etc), but with an increasing chance of becoming "possessed" with each use.
That seems more like a mod material than something to fit in the vanilla game.

Though I agree the mask should give you something in return for wearing it, I thought that by putting it in your face enemies wouldn't attack you, since they don't attack you when you're possessed anyway, you can try and put it on for a couple seconds to leave from a sticky situation with the added risk of maybe not being able go take it off after
Important thing about the mask: it can possess corpses. Always be wary of abandoning a corpse in Rend, you might see it walk out of the front door.
All the more reason to risk the living to save the dead, excellent.

I love that players that have been bodyjacked by a shyguy still keep their friendly marker on the ship radar, so unaware cams players can try to 'rescue' them with the teleporter.

I love the asthmatic of comedy/tragedy masks, so when I saw that they added them, I was ecstatic.
I check the shop, hoping to see the mask as a cosmetic for that day. Instead I leave with the pajama man. I now worship the pajama man, but that’s besides the point.
As I enter titan, I stumble across a storage type room about 3 rooms from the door. On one of the shelves I find a fancy mask. “Darn, it’s a scrap, not a cosmetic. I wonder if I can wear it?”
To my glee, you can left click to hold the mask to your face. “I should scare someone when they enter” I though.
Twice more I put on the mask, but right before someone enters, I suddenly cannot remove the mask, and everything turns red. All they hear is my anguished cries before I go silent. I proceeded to kill my entire team, resulting in us losing the quota worth of scrap and one day to make it up.

"Masked" are possesed crew men, meaning they still have helmets with trackers, meaning they absolutely must Bee Seen for the ship terminal as "team" (can Ship camera track them too)?
Yes they do, my friend accidentally wore the mask for too long and then got killed by a mimic, and when I finally made it back to ship, there were three crewmates to switch the overhead cam on, yet we were only playing with just us two. It's so terrifying, I love this update.

Coil heads are near 1:1 of 173. Eyeless dogs are 939, mask is 035, bracken is 106
A mask that takes over your body is a VERY old folklore thing. Hell, JoJo, from 30+ years ago, is an easy example but that one makes a vampire. I LOVE this zombie one.

Forest giants are still just one of those enemies where if it begins chasing you, you're automatically dead unless you're just exiting the ship. Very unfair still, there's no way to avoid them because they still seem to walk right through trees and any obstacles.
5:30 I can confirm that turrets now spawn in titan. Me and my group were looking for loot in titan and then ran into 5 turrents in one hall. (we only saw 3 so I thought I could run past. I ran into a dead end with 2 other turrets, screamed "theres more!" and died.)
What makes the Masked so terrifying is that, you dont even need a living person to be taken over, the Mask can also possess dead bodies lying on the floor.
Everything in this update seems amazing though i dont know how i feel about rail nerfs, i kinda liked it but its not the biggest deal i suppose
I honestly don't like it. Those were our basic only good defense against the creatures, and i at least don't think it's bad considering you're FUCKED if you don't have a shove to kill whatevers after you.

Yes, it can. I've played with just my friend only communicating to him through the radio, and I saw one spawn on Titan. Even if nobody uses a mask and gets possesed, they will still spawn just like a normal enemy.

Yes, titan's mansion rarities were updated. They changed the rarity weights.

It's now 300 for facility, 69 for mansion.
The transmitter is nice. Sad for the railing safety for a third of the monsters.
Good, Forest Giant need nerf. Totally see you in the distance and even without moving and tree hiding definitely does not help.
Nutcracker seems more for the seasonal. The Mask is a definitely nice addition, may not be the 'mimic' but close enough.
Though still need some 'buffs' for the players, since fall damage is now killer.
All the same. Thanks for the informative vid.
The mask is very similar to a mimic, as if it gets outside (either walks out or takes over someone outside) it can go hide inside the ship crouched in the corner and wait for someone to come inside and try to murk em

the rail nerf fucked me hard in my first game after the update. Belly Crawler got me good, bet he was laughing as he ate me.
This was a surprisingly informative video and is exactly what I was looking for to get a detailed rundown of the patch. Sincerely thank you for this content.
Some things I'd like to see that could maybe be included in future videos, if possible/interesting enough to warrant a video:
Which monsters can open doors and how long does it take for them to open doors (instant/delay)?
Shovel effective range/hitbox and wireframe representations of enemy hurtboxes
Shotgun effective range/hitbox
Breakdown of how line of sight actually works for things like coilheads/brackens/turrets
Best pathing for flooded maps/rainy maps and sinkhole locations for rainy maps
Optimal 'lightning rod' placement for stormy maps
Maybe something more meta like general game strategy
I hope they keep it coming with updates. This game has sooo much potential.
You can jump on some pipes in the brick hallways. I think they're a little higher up than the rails, but I don't know if they will let you dodge spiders and thumpers.
Spiders go on the walls though so maybe not, but Thumpers? Possible
I tested the pipes on the brick labyrinth hallways, yes it worked against thumper, but also slippery

Neat to see info on some of the stuff I didn't get to use trying the new update like the radar boost!
I already love the masks, one of my buddies accidentally put one on after we found out what they did and caused a little horde chase scene when I was playing. Thought the masks were goofy at first and then that happened.
I may be wrong about this but I think they nerfed the range the giants see you because I got spotted from across the map all the time in the previous version but that hasn’t happened since 45 released. Idk might just be my luck.
it would be sick if the masked could still speak but in an extremely distorted tone, would be creepy af
So according to the wiki, the giants add the result of an equation (Clamp(Time.deltaTime / (distanceToPlayer * .21) * visibilityModifier, 0, 1)) to your "stealth meter" every single frame. It doesn't say when the stealth meter is reset, though - presumably this is done every frame that the giant doesn't have LOS on the player, but that's just an assumption.
"visibilityModifier" starts as 1, and is increased by 1 if the player is standing, and again if they're moving - so crouch-walking gives a value of 2, as does standing still without crouching. Time.deltaTime is a Unity variable that holds the amount of time between the previous frame and the current frame. Assuming the game runs at a locked 60fps, this value is 1/60.
Whenever a player's "stealth meter" gets above 0.35, the giant will stare at the player for 3s, then approach in an attempt to get their meter above 1. Once that happens, the giant will start chasing the player until they're killed or they break LOS for 3s, in which case it will search a 25m radius around their last known location for 6s.
Given this formula, it is impossible to hide from a giant unless you break LOS - eventually, it *will* see you, even as distanceToPlayer approaches infinity. Your only option is to move to cover.
Granted, this formula appears to be the same one that was on the wiki before V45, so it may have changed with the nerf.
I wish you elaborated a bit more on the partol mebavior of the nutcracker, their scanning is really interesting and also has a melee kick

I just thought of a (probably complicated) possible hazard/monster.
I'm never paranoid of monsters anymore, but I always get jumpy when I see my friend run towards me out of nowhere. So how about a hazard/monster that spawns when two or more players are sufficiently far from each other?
Let's say we have Player 1 and Player 2.
Let's say that Player 1 is on the left far side of the building, and Player 2 is outside of the building, midway from the building to the Ship. The game then generates two copies: Copy 1 (this is a copy of Player 1) and Copy 2 (this is a copy of Player 2).
Copy 1 spawns near Player 2 and Copy 2 spawns in a nearby room to Player 1. Both Copies approach their target Player.
When Player 2 uses the proximity voice, Copy 1 transmits this to Player 1, through Copy 2 -- so Copy 2 is mimicing exactly what Player 2 is saying to Copy 1. And when Player 1 talks back to Copy 2, Copy 2 also transmits this to Player 1, via Copy 2. Because of this transmission, it'll sound like Player 1 is talking to Player 2 directly, but they're actually talking through the Copies.
So the idea is that both Players don't know whether or not they're interacting with a true player or a copy. The Copy could mimic a player's movements (e.g. turning on their flash, checking corners).
Or maybe we can remove the voice transmission part of it and keep the copies silent. What do you think?
Love the concise videos. Never thought about the idea of using the spray paint for navigation. I wonder if the whoopie cushion can be used to lure monsters together 🤔
I kind of liked the strength of the rails.
They should've just added more enemies that counter the strategy honestly.
It gave some extra counterplay.
With shovels, flashbangs, and now shotguns, its clear we still have plenty of means to fight off monsters. Its pretty boring for rails to be a 100 perfent safety measure in a game where we are supposed to be the prey. Glad it was removed.
@@dimyell
It's impossible to escape from the thumper though. He moves faster than the player does, and it's not entirely clear how he finds players. Removing the rails sucks, but I get it. They need to rebalance the weapons or add items that help with escape. All of the current options are either too bad to be used effectively, or are just underpowered.
I like the shotgun, but it's a mob drop only, and you only get 2 shots. (Unless you can buy bullets?) Which makes it unreliable.
@@ReptillianStrike it typically comes with two bullets and two inside the shotgun, so 4 per nutcracker, unless you kill it early in its reload animation. But why are you forgetting shovels?
It's very easy to kill a thumber with two shovels without snyone taking damage. It gets stunlocked consistently. Killing it on your own with kiting doesn't take much practice either, as you can sprint backwards in this game. Even with just one shovel, you can typically stun a thumber enough to get away with a single hit taken at worst.
If we want to complain about unfair (which is kind of the point of the game) we need to talk about jester or coilhead. Invulnerable enemies that almost force you out of the building, mainly when in tandem with other monsters.
yo this was actually crazy informative, thanks
Bro i was just talking about wanting an update today! Good shit 🤟
When I read mimics in the title I thought the game added the door monster from x753's mod of the game name into the game for real, a little bummed out they didn't but the masked are still really cool.
I did too when I saw people mention "Mimics", I'm down with this either way cause it means now I have 2 things to worry about rather than just 1.
They should really make it so you can buy further shotgun shells, but make them expensive enough so if you buy too many, they'll quickly turn into a money drain. Also the fact one shell takes up a slot in your inventory would make it very balanced.
In the apparatus room, the yellow pipe allows guard rail cheese to still work,, but they can somewhat push you off, not by a lot though
For fall damage I noticed the threshold for taking damage is more forgiving, so you can now jump from the top of the stairs to the bottom inside bunkers and even mansions, but when you do fall far enough to trigger damage it’s almost all your health.
idk what the Forest Giant debuff is, but when you look at them (or they find you) you get kinda like a panic effect, and it kinda feels like your stamina depletes more slowly on this state, making you be able to run for a bit longer and maybe juke the giants or find a safe spot. needs more testing but that's the feeling i got while playing today for a few hours (casually)
if you had full stamina, the stamina bar has a buffer between FULL to visibily depleting, and "EMPTY" and actually empty. There's a minor buffer between completely full stamina and completely empty stamina that mames regeneration faster or slower, respectively.
Or am i misunderstanding you
@@butteredbittiesmaybe its like tzp effect, making stamina last longer
I really the changes EXCEPT for getting rid of rail cheese. Idk, it made dark corridors more daunting I guess. It also gave a bit more identity to those that could or couldn't attack you, and I love having to learn different tactics and tricks to deal with certain monsters so there's actually a skill ceiling aside from knowing what strafe pattern you use to bonk things.
rail cheese requires you to stand still and bonk the enemy till it dies. unless its a invincible enemy like the jester or coilhead. where as strafe patterns and things of the like actually require skill in the first place. rail cheese was just that. cheese. it didnt "add depth" or "identity" it was a cheat. a exploit to avoid needing to think beyond the basic amount. i understand losing this is a big deal but that doesnt mean its a bad thing.
if anything losing this ENCOURAGES people to learn different tactics and tricks to deal with certain monsters
abusing an exploit to deal with any enemy removes the need to learn tactics for those specific enemies.
@@comicsans3421 it was nice to have 2 enemies being realistically dealable, since most of the enemies have almost no counter play or an extremely unrealistic counterplay...
Like forest giants, jesters, the girl, the shadow guy.... those are threats that are.. pretty impossible to deal with.
Having Thumpers and spiders being a huge threat as well, while also adding Fall damage death into the mix is just way too much of a player nerf to a game that it was already kinda designed to fuck you up and kill you eventually anyway.
They also added 2 extra threats ( mask and shotgun guy).
The only good news here is the Spray... the giant nerf is definetly needed but it seems like it doesn't really work as intended.
Thumper and slimes still shouldn't be able to hit players on rails imo, given their physical appearance. Spiders can climb so it would make sense for it to be able to bypass the cheese
No nonsense straight facts is such a fresh breathe of air from other update videos, I really appreciate your vid style and help with this game :)
Thank you for the breakdown, great vid
Glad to know there's an arachnophobia mode! I absolutely hate spiders, and I don't even know why.
I haven’t watched this yet because I haven’t got to play the update and I don’t want to spoil it but keep up the grind I respect it a lot not many people actually cover the ‘game’ thank you for covering a lot of the mechanics
Finally! WE HAVE A GUN!!! 🔫❤️🔥
**Goes and hunts down Bracken, Jester, and Coil-Heads**
absoutely love the "Oh sweet f-" cutoff with the turret
I'd love to see the masked players occasionally say something that the player might have said before they put on the mask
Skinwalker mod apparently supports Masked enemies too now. Would be interesting to see it as an official feature but do wanna see what this mod implementation is like regarding what you mentioned.
This game has enemies that remind me of a bunch of SCPs
Dogs - SCP 939
Coilheads - SCP 173
Brackens - SCP 106
Mask - SCP 035
Can't think of more
Maybe bc you ripped this thought from another comment by skylark?
first of all you ripped this comment off, second of all its a really stupid comparison.
SCP is a glorified horror fanfiction made by milions of people with thousands upon thousands of monsters, of course there will be simmilar monsters no matter what you create. Its like saying every story where you save a princess reminds you Mario.
Thanks for the good update video wurps c:
Very good video and some really sensible upfates to the game! Awesome!
item mimics would also be a funny thing they can add, only way to tell if its a mimic is to check the spelling of the item when scanned
There are mods of a similar concept, tho it mimics fire exit doors, and you can tell if it’s a fake when you hover over the interaction-it says “Feed” instead of “Exit”. Quite deadly when you aren’t paying attention and need to get out quick or when you have your hands full cause it replaces the interact text with [Hands Full] lol
@@mythlessrwf It doesn't always have different text (In my experience) Though that could be because it's conflicting with another mod.
How do you have the screen show the players POV in the ship?
it's a mod. the name was something like "body cam" or "helmet cam" i don't remember
Helmet cam mod
thanks mate @@Wurps
Im pretty sure the spray can is able to blind some enemies, as I was being chased by a thumper, I was looping him around a pallet (he could see me the whole time) and I started spraying it while running in circles around the pallet. First, I WAS able to paint him a bit, and I kinda blinded him, because he just left the room after a second or so of spraying
One of my friends: I want them to add a shotgun to Lethal Company
Next update:
Rip Rail Cheese
I watch these videos on repeat instead of playing the game so that I can feel the pleasure (satisfaction of knowing how to handle different situations) without the pain (dying a painful death and losing money)
the games actually really easy lol
Id absolutely love to play this game with someone, alas i can't be noisy in home. FUCK MY LIFE 😢
I was expecting a intro but no, the guy goes straight to the point
Your voice is simply amazing and soothing. I can't wait to fall deeper into your rabbit hole of... warmth UwU
Personally not sure about the fall damage nerf. Also dislike the railing nerf cuz it affect slimes too. The new mobs I find to good additions. I feel like this has only nerfed the players ability to deal with monsters so I’m hoping for a counterbalance change (although he did add shotguns) but was hoping for a stamina buff
More guns in the game would be dope, being able to disable the turret and taking its LMG would also be really cool
Even if it had just ten shots in the small magazine, it'd be really handy in a pinch
I know the lack of actual weapons for the player is probably a balance concern, but it still feels absurdly inconsistent for players to be equipped with life support suits and jetpacks and supply pod delivery, yet not have a single actual weapon to defend themselves with.
@@Chicky_Lumps I would agree but this is probably a choice the Company would make to prevent people from going around and murdering company staff with... company weapons. The best they provide is the zap gun, and that's a glorified taser.
