I’m convinced that the soul of Bob Ross adores you, Josh! He’d love how you are the creator of your multiverse!! I love how you are open minded and super creative!! Thank you for teaching us!!
I'm 47, i tried oil painting in my 20s. I wish you had been my teacher then. I no longer have the supplies. Maybe I'll try again someday. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy my watercolors and watching your creativity.
This is exactly the type of tutorial video I’ve been looking for. Some of us have no prior painting knowledge, just picked up paints and tried to start painting without knowing how to clean brushes or blend undercoats. Thank you so much for all the details!!!
I’m a figurative artist but want to add the cosmos. I just watched you paint Orion. Good! That’s what I want! I’ve never used liquid clear so this will be an experiment for sure. I just ordered liquid clear and some fan brushes from your Amazon store. Never used fan brushes either. I have used big brushes quite a bit, but ordered that too. Happy painting…. Wish me luck! Thank you. 🍃🌸🍃
@@PaintWithJosh I’m going to try. I would like to paint these scenes onto serving trays. Watching your videos has given me confidence that I can do this!!
Super..i have seen short videos of your paintings..were those acrylic or oil colors..? I am new to painting..dont know the difference between oil and acrylic..
I only have turpenoid, linseed oil and paint thinner I think it is can I use those and be fine? Or should I be getting something else ? I use the turpenoid like turpentine and rarely use the other so far
Linseed oil is the perfect replacement for the Liquid Clear base coat. Paint thinner would be used to clean the brushes but it's very stinky. I use odorless Mineral Spirits (home Depot for $17 per gallon) instead. So yes you could use what you have but be sure to use that paint thinner in a well ventilated area or it'll give you a headache after a while.

Welcome aboard!
Cant wait to start working w/ oils.
It's such a satisfying medium!
I’m interested in learning to paint and love your tutorials. Would I follow the same prep steps if I wanted to paint on wood?
Might be different. you'll have to try

Oils yes. Oils take a long time to dry and blend much easier than acrylic for me anyway.

I learn but secretly I’m all about the “Sound Effects” 😅
absolutely
Do you only use Oil paint?
Oil over acrylic gesso. I do have an orca whale tutorial in acrylic gesso
Can I use acrylic paint instead?
You can but they don't work the same
Can you do this paint with acrylic?
Not the same
How do I send you a picture of what I’ve done? I don’t have fb
