When a class is full, departments may offer a waitlist to allow non-enrolled students to get in line for the next available seat. When you're on a waitlist, you aren't enrolled in the class; however, you do appear on the class roster, and you have access to the online class materials until the waitlist cancellation date. It is important to register for a back-up class so that you meet your credit requirements if you don’t get into your waitlisted classes. Now that we have a basic understanding of what a waitlist is, let's get into the process of actually joining one.
Log in to CU Boulder Class Search and navigate to the closed class.
Select the appropriate section, if applicable.
Click "Add to Cart."
A pop-up will confirm that you're adding the section to your cart. Click "OK."
In the registration options panel:
Set the waitlist drop-down to "Yes."
If you've registered for a backup class to drop if you're enrolled from the waitlist, select the backup class from the drop-down. *Please note that you cannot setup “drop-if-enrolled” in two sections of a multiple component class (i.e. Enroll in a LEC & have an enrolled REC and waitlisted REC of same class).
Click "Save Changes."
The class should now appear in your shopping cart with a blue cart icon.
To finish registering, click "Continue to Enrollment."
If there are classes in your cart that you don't want to add, untick the checkbox to the right of those classes.
Click "Submit Registration."
If it worked, you'll see a message confirming that you've been added to the waitlist. If it didn't, you'll see an error message; read the description for details, confirming you've been added to the waitlist.
