We went to Latrajberg in 2009 on the summer soltice.Stayed overnight in Bredavik.Been all over the world but this was my favorite of all my experiences!!!!!!!What adorable little guys.Out of the way but sooo worth the trip!!!
I agree, Latrabjarg is so worth the effort. It has to be one of the most unique places I've ever visited. Amazing landscape, remote, and so many puffins. I wish I had a couple more days in that part of Iceland!
That's great! Hopefully it's as beautiful and untouched as when we were there. If you get to see the puffins it's one of the most fun things to see in Iceland.
Hermosa - The Band Thanks! We were there in mid-July. Every year is different but I’m sure there will be plenty of puffins in early August. Latrabjarg is a little out of the way, but totally worth the time to visit.
We visited in July, it was the perfect time. We had a few days of rain, but also many clear days. It's kind of a long journey to see the puffins, but totally worth it! The good thing about summer is that the sun barely goes down, so even if you arrive late, there's still light to see them.
Most likely it won't be a problem. Lots of potholes and you have to take it slow, but mid-July is usually late enough that the snow is mostly gone. Definitely check weather and road conditions before going just to be sure. Good luck...it's totally worth the drive!
We rented a Chevy Trax, a compact all wheel drive crossover. The road to Latrabjarg is tricky, especially near the end, full of potholes and rough, but if you take your time and be careful you don't need a 4x4. We found a small car was nice because the roads are very narrow.
Thanks. I've been to Iceland 5X but not yet to Westfjords and it will be visit N° 6 but I need to make sure that a small car would not be damaged as the rental agencies make you pay big time for gravel damage etc (I always take gravel damage insurance) In the past I've rented non 4W drives such as Hyundai I 30 and have stayed on paved roads 90% of the time.

Unbelievably beautiful, was just in Reykjavik, now I want to go back and just explore, didn't see a puffin! Beautiful shots!!
So beautiful views so beautiful 🐦
Hello! Thanks for this video. We will be going to the Westfjords early June and I can not wait!!

Beautiful video! What time of the year did you get there? I’ll be there in early August and i need to know if i’ll be able to see puffins...thank you!

Which month was it
This was in July.
What month did you visit Iceland to see the puffins?

Whats your opinion on going to the westernmost point with a fwd car in middle july?

What kind of car did you rent in order to drive the unpaved road to Latrabjarg
Thanks
