I have a question. Q. Must we add the Labour, Non Labour and Material resource during Resource-loading in P6? for example, In Excavation Activity, do we need to assign Excavator, Foreman, Helper and Operator? if yes, does it mean that the Total BUDGETED UNIT would be added up in P6. Let's say each has 16, then in total will be 64.
Yes, you generally need to add both Labor and Non-Labor resources to activities in Primavera P6. This includes assigning specific resources like Excavator, Foreman, Helper, and Operator to the Excavation activity. However, Material resources are typically handled differently. While materials are essential for projects, they are often represented as costs associated with activities rather than being directly assigned as resources. This is because materials are consumed as the project progresses, and their quantities can vary. Understanding Budgeted Units: • Budgeted Unit: This represents the total quantity of work expected to be completed for a specific activity. • Labor Resources: The Budgeted Unit for labor resources is often measured in hours or days. • Non-Labor Resources: The Budgeted Unit for non-labor resources (like equipment) can be measured in units (e.g., hours of machine use) or quantities (e.g., number of units). In your example: • If you assign Excavator, Foreman, Helper, and Operator to the Excavation activity, and each has a Budgeted Unit of 16 hours, the total Budgeted Unit for the activity would indeed be 64 hours.

I'm mostly self-taught with P6. I'm building a 4 Lane Highway and Bridge. I've used a very similar resource loading dictionary. I have labor, equipment, and materials built in my resource library, but I struggle with the Duration Type. Any recommendations would be appreciated as i want to use them as I'm capturing actuals and measure performance. The cost management components of P6 is amazing for project controls side of the equation. Great video and the best I've seen so far.
Thanks for comment, You can measure your project progress by physical progress updates. or please extract the spread sheet of manhours and prepare EVM sheet with the help of extracted manhours from #primaverap6.
Q1: How to round off Labor Units and Durations while uploading in Primavera or we have to upload with decimals ? Q2: You added cost as resource, when we assign this resource to an activity and allocate cost of the activity, will this cost be shown in budgeted cost ?
Planning-P6 Reply to Q1: It is contingent upon the duration of the project and the decisions taken by the client or consultant. Nonetheless, based on our experience, if your project is equal to or less than a year, round up to 10% with the prior numbers, and if it is more than a year, round up using the subsequent value. Planning-P6 Reply to Q2: Indeed, it will be shown in the appropriate column.

Hoping someone sees this and knows the answer. I added resource to a task that ends on last day of March but in resource assignments view it shows a small portion of that cost in April. Anyone know why this might be? Calendar issue? It's happened over several tasks and I can't see any reason for it, it's driving me mad! Thanks 😊
Check if the activity type is level of effort, then change it to task-dependent. What is the latest finish date of the task? Are the baseline finish and actual finish dates same? However, if the problem persists, kindly share the XER file with us. #planning_p6
@@PLANNINGP6 Task type is dependent, late finish same as finish and same as BL (task complete). I can't share the XER due to nature of my job. Really struggling to work out why this keeps happening. Could it be a calendar misalignment? Or an EVM setting?
