My worst rejection story, I was asked to hang out some time by a barista, and i came back to the coffee shop a few days later and said Yeah i would love to hang out, when would you want to? She said maybe later, and while i was still drinking my coffee in the shop the barista Texted her BOY FRIEND and he confronted me telling me to stay away from her and physically threatened me as i was walking away from the shop. She asked ME to hang out, then she calls her boyfriend to run me off?? I was so confused but also terrified as the guy was way bigger than me.
I never understood that dynamic, like she must have no guy friends whatsoever. Sounds like you dodged a freight train m8.

I went back to the shop a few hours later and for the first time ever, i chewed some one (Her) out for their behavior. Totally called her on it and she was ashamed, and i hate that it went the way it did. She seemed like a cool person, i never hit on her or got flirty. I just dont understand her motive. She asked Me to hang out, i didnt randomly roll up on her and say "hay baby wanna hang out some time".

I feel like a guy was sweet and did a whole public spectacle, I'd say yes just to avoid causing him public humiliation; then I'd take him aside privately and talk to him. Especially if we were already friends.
Why not just take a chance and go with him.

I ended up getting rejected in middle school by somebody I had a huge crush on for years. It was going to be for prom & she said she was already going with somebody else. However, whenever me and my friends got there, the dude that she was going to go with ended up not being there; so when the music got slow I asked her to dance with me & she said yes! It felt like all the crying (I cried when I got home) I did the day before was really embarrassing lol. Ah to be young n dumb. Looking back my favorite part was hearing my friends cheer me on & being there for me whenever I was down.

It was my last semester in high school. There was a girl I really liked and even though I wasn't sure if she felt the same, I thought it was worth taking a shot. Keep in mind, I expected her to say no.
After I asked her out, she said yes. As you can imagine, I was super happy. Her only condition is that we should hang out next week since her uncle was in town. Two days after I asked her out, she started to ignore me at school. Yes, you read that right, she randomly ignored me. Not only IRL, but also on Whatsapp (we did text each other for a bit one day after I asked her out).
I thought it was super weird from her. So within a span of one week, I tried talking to her. But everytime I said hi, she walked the other way. I felt terrible. I honestly thought that I did or said something wrong. After a few weeks, I've realized that she probably didn't know how to reject someone and we haven't spoken to each other since that day.
Do I really need to explain to a grown man why this happened? SHE TALKED TO HER FRIENDS AND THEY THOUGHT OF YOU AS GROSS. So instead of telling you she just ignored you...
I feel like Ethan just focused on how bad the boy felt bc it was relatable to him, but honeslty putting this poor girl in this position - if it was me or my daughter I would be so upset and so uncomfortable!
What I think some forget is social anxiety is a thing and any sort of big public scene like what Zach’s did can cause a fight or flight response. Some have panic attacks over sending food back at a restaurants I imagine how they’d feel when trapped in a situation where they have to reject someone with everyone watching. Or they’ll feel like they have to say yes even if they really don’t want to

I have a couple bad ones. One of the worst ones is when I asked a girl to be my girlfriend in middle school and she said yes. BUT, for like 2 days it was awkward as hell when I went to her locker to talk to her and then she broke up with me shortly after. She then told all of my friends that the only reason she said yes is because she felt sorry for me 😂 Shout out to you Kayla, I’m the better looking one now 😉
Worst one I saw this cute girl in high school who sat at the table next to where me an my friends sat at one day I went over to the table with a group of her friends there all of them stared me down an when I sat next to her an introduced myself she turned the opposite direction an never once looked at me the whole time after about 3 minutes which felt like 3 hours of touching one of her friends said dude can you go she don’t wanna talk to you it took me years to talk to another girl afterwards

Honestly I don’t have a rejection story yet because every person I’ve asked out I’ve dated, which might sound awesome until its put into perspective that would be like 4 people because I would only ever ask a girl out if we where practically already in a relationship, just not officially. It just sounds like asking random people out that you think might make for a good partner is not worth it which this video proves to me more so than ever. Personally ig I just prefer to get to know people first.

i dont know who needs to hear this, but if you do ANY kind of public proposal (a dance, prom, marriage, whatever) to a person without checking with them first if theyd be comfortable with it, you HAVE to be prepared for a rejection. of course it'd be nice if the person said yes, but think about how fucking uncomfortable you make the other person by making them part of a public spectacle without their consent!! of course, if you get rejected, its "brutal" but its then literally your own fucking fault that it even got to be that brutal 💀

Firstly, this guidance councillor needs to not be a guidance counsellor anymore. They’re shit at their job.

As brutal as it is for a kid to be rejected - I doubt it was much fun for her to have to shut him down.
I’ve been in that position and it sucks.
And thirdly - The “guidance councillor” was out of line when they pushed for her to say she’ll think about it.
If she said no - then she said no.
She shouldn’t have to be made to feel uncomfortable just to soften the blow for him.

It was probably trying to help the guys confidence, but when it went wrong she didn’t know what to do and tried to salvage something that was beyond saving.
The adults in these scenarios are really fucked up, The guidance counselor and also Ian's mom should not force children into romantic situations. that is abusive and traumatic.

1. Hate when people sing to me, I literally want to die.
2. Worst rejection wasn’t romantic, but my undergrad thesis proposal where the dean of my department said that my theory was antiquated and that the professors who supported me should be ashamed and he questioned why they worked there (one a tenured professor of 40 years and written several books on the subject). If we had a lower GPA than required we still got the chance to plead our case and I was a 100th of a point off. Didn’t get to do a thesis at all and had to take a lower level course.

My first “boyfriend” was also in middle school and we liked eachother equally but it was the same kind of story as the boys, we only talked through text and he texted me one day that tomorrow we should hold hands and tell our friends and I panicked and broke up with him!
