Hoodoo Tempest 120p & Pelican HD
Fishing under birds, drop offs and deep channels. We launched from the Galveston side of the pass on the beach around 630-700 and off the water around 1030ish. We kept four trout from 16-19".
The video ran a little long because I wanted to show the rainy conditions. It wasn't bad and it kept the temperature on the cool side.
Charlie is on the blue Tempest 120p and Canaan is on the Pelican HD.
I had to re-edit the video to get the timeline correct.
Awesome job y’all!
Dude! Are you fishing in Florida?
And how do you like my new logo I made? It combines two things I like: Kayak fishing and curvy hooks! :)
Way to go boys! Looked like another good day on the water!
Nice conditions right now. I’m afraid I’m gonna burn through all my vacation days. :)
The big Spec's are on fire early when that sun comes up on MirrOdine Lures & Paul Brown Fatties between Mouth of Brazos to San Luis Pass.
2 man limits easy in a couple hours.
Trash fish hitting live bait. Top Water action is fire also!
Hi Mike, I'd have to agree. As a new-ish angler, we've been catching much larger specs these past few outings, and primarily at San Luis Pass. Yesterday I took my kids out with the intent of getting my daughter on some fish, and she boated a nice 24" red on artificial and my son caught a 20" red and 21" spec. I'm going to upload that video shortly. I enjoy spending time on the water with my kids and great to see them learn how to fish. All 3 fish caught on shimmer swimmer 3.5" paddle tails.
Gotta check out the new vid. Those huge Manhatten Shad are running & fishing is going to get better!
I was at Quintana Jetties on the 29th & 30th of June limiting out on Huge Spec's in 10min or less using that Paul Brown Fattie Texas Chicken Color.
I've learned more by watching UTube videos & have caught more PB's in my 40yrs of fishing Freeport, Surfside & San Luis Pass in the past few months than all those years.
They were just biting the tails off my paddletails, then I switched to the MirrOdine Pink Top, Yellow bottom & started smoking 17" Spec's but when I put that Paul Brown on? 20" plus on every cast! We started culling the 17 to 18" Trout. I had guys offering me $40-$50 for that lure but it was all I had. lol then a 26" plus came up, grabbed that lure, turned & snap! Water was so clear & I was just about to pull it out by the rocks when she came up. A beautiful sight to see & well worth loosing my $9 lure. Bucees by OCD has a wide variety of Paul Browns & at the same prices or cheaper than Academy!
I'm completely stocked up now & looking for 2 Fishing Kayaks for me & my Son. Hit me up if you come across any used ones. I'm disabled with heart & lung disease & can't afford too much but my Son is back working at the Plants, so we're saving. foshee.mike@gmail.com

@@Mike_The_Hog_A_Nator oh I definitely understand where you're coming from. i've learned more about how to find and catch fish from some of these youtube guys than just the typical office cooler advice. i've heard them say 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water. and they're absolutely right. now.. i like my hoodoo. it's a good peddle drive kayak for the price. we've been fortunate to have these calm days and we we've been able to sneak over to San Luis Pass, where otherwise I would stick to the protected marshes. I personally hate scraping oyster shells, but usually where there's shells, there's fish. ..darn'd if you do, darn'd if you don't. :) and now with my gopro action hat, i'm able to put some quick videos together and my kids enjoy seeing themselves in action.
Chasing the birds can be very productive. I like to use tandem jigheads, for more distance and a chance of doubles.
Hi Robert, The birds and pelicans and 'flamingos' (spoonbills) were all over the place today. They were chasing ribbon fish all over the bay where we were at and we could never find a good concentration of bait, birds, and fish. But all in all today was a good day.
You guys fish paddletails or arti shrimp under a cork? I've never had any luck. Just curious. You sound like me, "we'll get pizza & watch Netflix" Fish Awn Baby🤟
I won't lie. I watch ALOT of MDLR and lean heavily on what he says. Most recently, we started using the shimmer swimmer paddle tails. it's only 3.5 inches. no cork, just a 1/8 jig head. And, Canann was saying something about eating raw shrimp because some of our bait was HUGE! and he said, 'dont y'all do that in the Philippines?' and that's when i said. "No! we order pizza and watch netflix." LOL.
Nice video...what do you think of the Pelican Catch 130 in the video?
Hi David, The Pelican was my first peddle drive and it's nice. I'll say this, my Hoodoo Tempest 120p is faster and has reverse with the propeller drive, but the Pelican can flutter with the fins and can get shallower. I prefer the Tempest just because of the speed and reverse. To me, that was a game changer.
Hyyyy
What’s up Turtles!! We found the trout this weekend. Fishing is easier when the birds gives them away.
