I really appreciate how much thought you put into the music videos and the lyrics and Kai as a person. Ballet is very dear to Kai’s heart as he would going to be a ballet dancer before he became an idol. And the line between masculine and feminine is also part of Kai’s imagine. He’s very much in tough with both and has expressed that. He is such a wonderful person.

No matter what they do they always connect them one way or another. Also Suho mentioned right before the song dropped that Kai will be opening for EXO's comeback. Reminder or just in case you didn't know, his name Kai means 'open door' so literally it does a boomerang on the whole thing. The ballet, theater & the name Billy Elliott are all references to his childhood, he touched on that a bit during the live. The fact that the rights to this song were sold to SM was great cuz honestly it suits him well, made it his own, he also mentioned that this album was done more on what he wanted rather than what the fans would want or love, I'm so happy he's finally allowing his true talent to come through even more & he's confident enough to share it with us.
Peaches album is like riding a cloud. I think you're right, Kai's "Rover" lyrics and MV can be interpreted in two ways. One way is that the song talks about Kim JongIn, his life and who he is as an artist and person. The other interpretation I think is meant to tell Kai's story and continue EXO's storyline. One of the reasons why "Rover" was chosen for Kai's title song is because the concept of the song and MV was designed with Kai's storyline in mind. To understand why Kai is Mr. Rover, you have to keep in mind that everything the EXO members do is usually connected to EXO's storyline and concept. As you may remember, Kai's superpower in EXO is the ability to teleport, which is why in the "Rover" MV we see him blink in and out of scenes and at the end he disappears as he dives off the stage, etc. The MV is literally showing how he is Mr. Rover -- a rover is someone who roams, travels, wanders all over the place. Kim JongIn was given the stage name Kai because it means opening in Chinese and he is supposed to be the one who opens the doors and travels between time and space and dimensions, etc. to connect all the EXO/SuperM members together, which is why his superpower is teleportation. Because Kai can teleport and appear at any time and place he wants to, the fight in which he was injured could have happened at any time or place. it doesn't necessarily mean it took place at that exact moment in the "Rover" MV, and it may not even have anything to do with the storyline of "Rover" specifically. For all we know, he is appearing in "Rover" after traveling from another place within EXO's storyline. The fight may have happened in a different location, time or dimension, and it's even thought that EXO -- or specifically Kai -- can time travel to different times and places throughout history. It's probably another one of those scenes that is meant to create connections in EXO's storyline and reference something that has happened, or will happen in the future, in their other MVs. As you noticed, in "Rover" we also see him taking on different identities. It depicts the different identities or sides of his personality -- Kai the sexy, over confident on stage personality -- powerful hip-hop dancer -- or Kim JongIn the elegant, ballet dancer, etc. Also as a member of EXO, as part of their storyline, it is thought that the EXO members are supposed to be going about their tasks incognito, which means that in order to keep a low profile Kai probably needs to take on many different identities as he travels across time and space, through different points in history or to different dimensions, etc. Fun fact: If you pay attention to some of the names he chooses for his aliases in this MV, one of the names is Elliot Billy, which is pretty clearly a reference to the well known ballet movie Billy Elliot, which Kai has said influenced his love of ballet. Not sure if you remember this, but Kai's love for dance started with jazz and ballet. From a young age, he began training to become a ballet dancer. As a child, he fell in love with dancing after seeing the Nutcracker. So, his whole foundation with dance began with ballet, which is why there are so many references to ballet in this MV. He says, that if he hadn't been bribed by his father to audition for SM Entertainment, and if he hadn't become a Kpop star, he probably would be a professional ballarino today. And of course, the red light is most likely supposed to represent something to do with the Red Force. Therefore, it is thought either, Kai is being controlled by the Red Force in those scenes, or maybe this whole MV is depicting X-EXO Kai, which is Kai's alter ego clone that has been created by the Red Force. Also keep in mind, that in EXO's concept blue is supposed to represent EXO as a way to distinguish between EXO and X-EXO. Things that are blue are thought to symbolize EXO or show when EXO has the upper hand. Therefore, in the scenes where you see blue this could be showing the EXO version of Kai. And in the scenes where we see blue and red together, or purple colors -- blue and red mixed together make purple -- this could be showing how EXO and X-EXO, or EXO and the Red Force, are battling for control or are in conflict, etc. Yet again, just another example of how EXO's and SM's Universe is extremely complicated and complex. The thing is, none of us really know exactly what is happening in the story, it's all just fan theories and educated guesses. I have also heard that images with everything to do with this MV and comeback content reference things to do with traditional Korean folktales, so Koreans, and those that know Korean culture, would understand some of the references and stories he is referring to. I'm also fairly certain that there are also things in this video that can be connected to EXO's storyline, however, I haven't made any solid connections yet. The title of this song and album is stylized as "Peaches^2" because this is Kai's second solo album. I guess it's SM's new style, they put the album number in the title of the album. I just checked out the music video for rover, and I'm speechless. When I saw your reaction I got so happy haha. I love do discuss MV with my friends but unfortunately I won't be able to do that this time so listen to your input is really satisfying, thank you! Now after watching the whole video. I'm a fan, not only Kai's but Exo's but I also don't know much, that said, let's go. It is really hard to not connect this (or try to) to the Exo storyline since Kai's power is teleport, or movement, so that whole theme of him "vanishing" is on point. But at the same time there are some elements that make it stand out to my eyes like more "personal" to him like you said. I don't know much about his personal life besides the fact that Kim JongIn and Kai are very different, if know what I mean, like Kai is mostly a persona he created to go on stage because he is (or used to be) really shy and introverted. As someone who is also like that - an introvert with social skills - I can really relate. So to me personally, all those lines about throwing out your name, "catch me if you can", when you figures me out I've already changed or even when it says something like "I'll show the truth just for you" refers to the ability to change and adapt and use all that "personas", and "showing the truth" in that case is to like portray yourself like you really is. Other interesting part to me is the scene where his IDs start to fade to the point when he has no name or face, because, sometimes when you have to pull out personas so many times it's hard to lose yourself and be "lost" amid them. I kinda hope I'm reading it too deeply tbh because it's a little f***ed up feeling but since it hits home it was my "first reading". And lastly the bailarinas vs street dancers could be a reference to Kai's performance skills to be both masculine and feminine, and - if I'm not mistaken - he is trained in ballet as a dancer, so it could also portray that side of him. Or just be a reference yo the bailarinas in music boxes as a "distraction" in the Exo's storyline, like Kai is acting like a bait, luring the red forces to persue him when the others that are actually doing something important.

That part where he was glitching where he had the bruise on his face, is showing him in the process of teleporting, kinda like how your atoms are supposed to disperse then rearrange itself when you’re teleporting. In this MV, it looks like Kai is on the run from the Red Force and he’s been hiding his real identity to evade them. In the EXO lore, the members were separated at some point and were individually being hunted by the Red Force. Kai has been the one teleporting all over the world trying to find the members to bring them back together.
When i knew that the song was called Rover, i thought exactly what you thought, the Mars Rover. What that Rover does is to actually wander on lands searching for important informations and whatnot. This reminded me of his superpower in EXO, he can go from a place to another and he has done that several times. In MAMA he wanders on earth, reaching out to the members, for example. There are many occasions in which Kai wanders among parallel universes and such, throughout Exo's storyline, so Mr. Rover definitely suits him! What I got from the lyrics of Rover is something like "I can be whoever and whatever I want. You cannot stop me. You are fake hiding the real you out of fear. If you want to be free, forget all your worries and follow my lead." That´s what I felt when I watched the video and read the lyrics, but maybe it´s wrong.
His new release "Rover" is actually a remake of a bulgarian song by Dara (a bulgarian singer) called "Mr. Rover" to which SM brought the rights and remade. Finally Bulgaria is getting some recognition. If you want you can check it out.

Peaches is so pretty and it’s dreamy. Like a god, literally in the skies with the peach as the fruit of the gods in culture related lore. It is hard to NOT think the thoughts you be thinking lol but also the traditional style, dress mixed with modern just visual art really. Makes me think of kubo and the two strings (even though wrong nathionality lol) in the style of things. Rover. Lol ummmm well we all been run over by kai, multiple times. Like in the movies when the driver unbothered stops, reverses the car and you see it run over something and bounce up and down before smooth and then they stop and go back into drive repeating said motion. That’s were exo-Ls went lol My initial random thoughts on the mv: Also lots of red lights is red faction in every other exo mv or solo and mr no name as x kai was made as a clone he has none of his own so he would want to go play hard if free. Second, Before this comeback I think Kai mentioned that if he could teleport it would be to Rover (cmiiw) and I do think that if it's related to their lore... then it's possible that he's really being chased by the Red Force and X-Kai. One of their tiktok teasers Kai and the dancers were having fun then at night there was a murd3r in the hotel room... I think X-Kai and Kai really did have a fight, like X-Kai taking advantage of Kai's unguarded state then attacking him in that hotel room and if you remember in Obsession X-Kai has his hair all over his face covering his eyes like how Kai looks in the last part of the MV so maybe X-Kai did succeed in replacing the real Kai or they are still playing cat and mouse with each other again this is just me having fun with the MV and the lore guys if I'm wrong that's fine let's just have fun 🤗

Yeah peaches is more of the feeling of how a woman makes a man him feel he can be and do anything for her so many people sexualized this song which is incredibly disrespectful because he’s not making it about sex it’s the feelings a guy has for a woman when he’s in love.

Also as a member of EXO, as part of their storyline, it is thought that the EXO members are supposed to be going about their tasks incognito, which means that in order to keep a low profile Kai probably needs to take on many different identities as he travels across time and space, through different points in history or to different dimensions, etc.
Fun fact: If you pay attention to some of the names he chooses for his aliases in this MV, one of the names is Elliot Billy, which is pretty clearly a reference to the well known ballet movie Billy Elliot, which Kai has said influenced his love of ballet.
Not sure if you remember this, but Kai's love for dance started with jazz and ballet. From a young age, he began training to become a ballet dancer. As a child, he fell in love with dancing after seeing the Nutcracker. So, his whole foundation with dance began with ballet, which is why there are so many references to ballet in this MV. He says, that if he hadn't been bribed by his father to audition for SM Entertainment, and if he hadn't become a Kpop star, he probably would be a professional ballarino today.
And of course, the red light is most likely supposed to represent something to do with the Red Force. Therefore, it is thought either, Kai is being controlled by the Red Force in those scenes, or maybe this whole MV is depicting X-EXO Kai, which is Kai's alter ego clone that has been created by the Red Force.
Also keep in mind, that in EXO's concept blue is supposed to represent EXO as a way to distinguish between EXO and X-EXO. Things that are blue are thought to symbolize EXO or show when EXO has the upper hand. Therefore, in the scenes where you see blue this could be showing the EXO version of Kai. And in the scenes where we see blue and red together, or purple colors -- blue and red mixed together make purple -- this could be showing how EXO and X-EXO, or EXO and the Red Force, are battling for control or are in conflict, etc.
Yet again, just another example of how EXO's and SM's Universe is extremely complicated and complex. The thing is, none of us really know exactly what is happening in the story, it's all just fan theories and educated guesses. SM has never confirmed or denied any of our theories and they have left it completely up to fans to figure out what is happening and to create the story. (We only hope that someday SM will release the book or produce a movie that will explain the whole story, so we will know whether any part of our theories were correct.)
"Rover" is the title track on Kai's third mini album. There are 6 songs on this album. Kai's "Rover" is actually a remix and I think the style can be considered reggaeton based, which is a music genre with reggae and Puerto Rican/Latin influences. If you want a sample of the other songs on this album check out his "Film: Kai #Rover," which, like his previous two albums, is a sample of all the songs on his Rover album. "(In his Rover film you will see other scenes where he looks like he has been in a fight, which could possibly be connected to his "Rover" storyline.)
If you like Kai's dancing you have to check out a live performance of "Rover," such as his Studio Choom appearance. You are going to be even more blown away when you see the full choreography.
Kai is a fashion icon and he is highly sought after by some of he biggest names and brands in fashion to be their model and brand ambassador, etc. Kai had a hand in styling this whole MV. Therefore, I'm sure that everything he wore was expertly selected from some of the top fashion brands. And the MV was specifically styled to represent his designer model status.
As you can see, he is also considered one of the sexiest Kpop idols, and he is known for his super sexy onstage personality, which is why you often see him shirtless or wearing crop tops when he is performing. However, if you really get to know him, you will see that when not on stage he is almost the complete opposite of what you see here. Which is just another example of his duality and conflicting identities, etc.

There's another connection you might find interesting... You can spot one of his ID's say Mr. Elliot Billy, and then the presence of ballerinas... this can be taken back to how Kai was really moved by the movie Billy Elliot as a kid (absolutely stunner of a movie tbh), and that influenced him heavily to take up ballet lessons, and kind of affect who he is as a person today :)
Fun fact: Peaches, and peach trees in particular, symbolize immortality in Korean culture and the modern take on traditional Korean clothing that Kai wears in his "Peaches" MV seems to symbolize that he is an immortal being that plans to continue his journey for many more years with no plans of stopping. I have also heard that images with everything to do with this MV and comeback content reference things to do with traditional Korean folktales, so Koreans, and those that know Korean culture, would understand some of the references and stories he is referring to.
I'm also fairly certain that there are also things in this video that can be connected to EXO's storyline, however, I haven't made any solid connections yet.
The title of this song and album is stylized as "Peaches^2" because this is Kai's second solo album. I guess it's SM's new style, they put the album number in the title of the album. Peaches is a mini album with 6 tracks. If you want a sample of the other songs on this album, if you haven't already, check out his "Peaches Prologue Film." The prologue film is similar to Kai's "Film: Kai," which was a sample of all his songs on his solo debut Kai album.

Now after watching the whole video. I'm a fan, not only Kai's but Exo's but I also don't know much, that said, let's go. It is really hard to not connect this (or try to) to the Exo storyline since Kai's power is teleport, or movement, so that whole theme of him "vanishing" is on point. But at the same time there are some elements that make it stand out to my eyes like more "personal" to him like you said. I don't know much about his personal life besides the fact that Kim JongIn and Kai are very different, if know what I mean, like Kai is mostly a persona he created to go on stage because he is (or used to be) really shy and introverted. As someone who is also like that - an introvert with social skills - I can really relate. So to me personally, all those lines about throwing out your name, "catch me if you can", when you figures me out I've already changed or even when it says something like "I'll show the truth just for you" refers to the ability to change and adapt and use all that "personas", and "showing the truth" in that case is to like portray yourself like you really is. Other interesting part to me is the scene where his IDs start to fade to the point when he has no name or face, because, sometimes when you have to pull out personas so many times it's hard to lose yourself and be "lost" amid them. I kinda hope I'm reading it too deeply tbh because it's a little f***ed up feeling but since it hits home it was my "first reading". And lastly the bailarinas vs street dancers could be a reference to Kai's performance skills to be both masculine and feminine, and - if I'm not mistaken - he is trained in ballet as a dancer, so it could also portray that side of him. Or just be a reference yo the bailarinas in music boxes as a "distraction" in the Exo's storyline, like Kai is acting like a bait, luring the red forces to persue him when the others that are actually doing something important.

That part where he was glitching where he had the bruise on his face, is showing him in the process of teleporting, kinda like how your atoms are supposed to disperse then rearrange itself when you’re teleporting.
In this MV, it looks like Kai is on the run from the Red Force and he’s been hiding his real identity to evade them. In the EXO lore, the members were separated at some point and were individually being hunted by the Red Force. Kai has been the one teleporting all over the world trying to find the members to bring them back together.

When i knew that the song was called Rover, i thought exactly what you thought, the Mars Rover. What that Rover does is to actually wander on lands searching for important informations and whatnot. This reminded me of his superpower in EXO, he can go from a place to another and he has done that several times. In MAMA he wanders on earth, reaching out to the members, for example. There are many occasions in which Kai wanders among parallel universes and such, throughout Exo's storyline, so Mr. Rover definitely suits him! Just like he had Peaches while he was working on his first EP, but he wouldn't stop working on it and release it until he was satisfied with it.

Peaches is so pretty and it’s dreamy. Like a god, literally in the skies with the peach as the fruit of the gods in culture related lore. It is hard to NOT think the thoughts you be thinking lol but also the traditional style, dress mixed with modern just visual art really. Makes me think of kubo and the two strings (even though wrong nathionality lol) in the style of things.
Rover. Lol ummmm well we all been run over by kai, multiple times. Like in the movies when the driver unbothered stops, reverses the car and you see it run over something and bounce up and down before smooth and then they stop and go back into drive repeating said motion. The name I caught as billy elliot so the film, the ballet makes sense there and really real kai is pretty much the sk version of billy essentially. His roots and his passion in dance and ballet lead him on his path. He would have been a ballerino if not an idol. (Always Wish he had a cameo in navillera kdrama doing full ballet moment)
The start as the undercover in a hair salon and I know it’s too far back cause kai and staff will be too young made me think of the film bird on a wire where in the witness protection programme Mel Gibson has had a ton of random lives in different places with different jobs - one being a hairdresser in a salon that started by sweeping the place. (80’s film and before he went crazy lol). So I doubt it’s that but I can’t get that thought out my head. Maybe a play with red faction and xKai right in their faces hence so much red light, like it’s there a lot and close by. Prob the most up front with the faction as kai with teleporting feels like he can vanish so fast he can be more reckless? Get closer?
There was also a photo of kai in the lead up to the album release but he had one red eye and wondered if it was clone evil X-Kai that is his biggest danger cause he can do the same and follow kai unlike the rest of the faction. But there was nothing in this of that, so that might be random or just photographer aesthetics. We know kai can leap not only around earth but around different worlds, parallels and possible planets as well as time. Or nothing means that much, kai is a cross between his love of ballet and music and this shows that along with his fashion style. Lol I think it will be easy for many to have lots of ideas about lots of things in this. He did mention in the exo watch that he was undercover and fake id for that plus the bruise is getting into fights.

Second, Before this comeback I think Kai mentioned that if he could teleport it would be to Rover (cmiiw) and I do think that if it's related to their lore... then it's possible that he's really being chased by the Red Force and X-Kai.
One of their tiktok teasers Kai and the dancers were having fun then at night there was a murd3r in the hotel room... I think X-Kai and Kai really did have a fight, like X-Kai taking advantage of Kai's unguarded state then attacking him in that hotel room and if you remember in Obsession X-Kai has his hair all over his face covering his eyes like how Kai looks in the last part of the MV
so maybe X-Kai did succeed in replacing the real Kai or they are still playing cat and mouse with each other
