STORYLINE
The Missionaries of Charity headquarters in the eastern Indian city of Calcutta is a landmark for (m) millions of people who have come to associate it with the legendary Mother Teresa.
As Pope John Paul II prepares to beatify the famous nun, most agree that she was a living saint for India's poor and deserves eternal veneration for that alone.
Mother Teresa will be beatified on October 19 at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, taking her a step closer to sainthood.
She was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu on August 26, 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia.
She joined the Loreto order of nuns in 1928 and in 1946, while traveling by train from Calcutta to Darjeeling, was inspired to found the Missionaries of Charity order.
The order was established four years later and has since opened more than a hundred houses worldwide to provide comfort and care for the needy, sick and "poorest of the poor."
Mother Teresa won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her work with Calcutta's destitute and ill.
She cared for the impoverished and sick in Calcutta's slums, toiling daily and for long hours even when she was elderly and ailing herself.
She died at the age of 87 on September 5, 1997.
A year after she died, Pope John Paul II waived the normal five-year waiting period for the beatification process to begin.

My story begins like this, I see the Lord's hand from the time of my conception in my life, My Mom wanted to abort me, I was saved due to the efforts of a Doctor who is a Catholic Nun, All my chilhood memories are flooded with how I searched for God, I was very much involved in all religious activities but I still did not have the real peace in his heart. I often wondered, “After all these religious ceremonies which I am performing every day, am I in right relationship with God? Is he drawing closer to me? My earliest encounter with Christ was big image of the Sacred Heart, I always felt called by Him, During classes and even at break I used to look at Him, the day His eyes met mine, He never left me, I still was a stauch Hindu, I wanted to overcome my karma by performing devotional rituals, but fear of death and reincarnation had overcome me, the words of Christ to Martha has set me free " I am the Ressurection", I followed Jesus right from I was 11, I was hated by my family and relatives for my faith in Him, but the Lord was gracious enough to take me into His fold when I was 16, I was baptized along with my Mom and maternal Grandmother into the Church. Jesus my Savior, my King my all in all changed my life, there is no meaning to life without Him.

I understand that people would simply lie down and die in the streets before she started taking them in. As a leader of a mission her job would have been to organise and lead the helpers and to raise funds to increase the effectiveness and grow the mission into other locations full of poverty. The purpose of the mission was to give people somewhere safe to die in peace away from the road traffic and back alleyways, she was not able to provide a hospital service, these are dying people. Mattresses would have been impossible to keep clean in the heat with vermin running everywhere. Along with the basic needs of thousands of dying people in many locations, money was needed to feed all those helpers, to provide transport services to collect the dying and to have their bodies disposed of and to travel to wealthy nations in order to raise money to grow the mission. Remember she was a simple person from a peasant background displaced by communism. Hitchens understands little but judges with disgusting arrogance. Who are we to judge her, the recipients of her work were grateful for her assistance because nobody else cared enough to help. People expect too much from a simple woman who acted instead of looking away and passing on by the first dying person she came across and she continued this mission until she died herself. Oh it's so easy to sit up in your ivory tower condemning others when you stand by and do nothing yourselves.
God strongly opposes contraception and abortion too. After all He is the creator, Satan is the destroyer! Abstain if you don't want children, don't kill them and have blood on your hands.
