I love the extras in this song, the way that they just kind of, wander on stage during the song. Some of them lean of the scenery, a couple sit down, like the song also has meaning to them, and then by the second verse they've all found they're way to their marks.
Lin’s storytelling & word choice on point here! Also the movement thru his story from Love doesn’t discriminate to Death doesn’t discriminate to Life doesn’t discriminate. Just wow!
There’s a 360 version of this sung by the cast in the week before the Tonys performance that is just fantastic-stripped down, acapella, with the lyrics and the voices on display.
Leslie Odom Jr really nailed the performance of Lin's powerful song. He said he got the Love doesn't discriminate...takes parts first and didn't go to a party he planned on to work on the song. There was an interview about it.
I looove this performance. Not only is the music and the voice absolutely beautiful, but the way... Nothing happens.... There is so much emotion, so much suffering and doubt and reason... But nothing comes of it because he does nothing. It ends so unsatisfactorily. So... Empty... It's so beautiful because it's exactly how Miranda is portraying the difference between Hamilton and Burr. One used his suffering as fuel to move as fast and high as possible. The other didn't. I just seriously love how all of this particular song was done.
I really love how Leslie Odom emoted this song. I interpret the build up to the chorus as Burr justifying why he waits for it. Then the chorus drops. And Burr cracks a bit, letting his indignant anger show as to why he is the way he is. It's brilliant. And just like that, the chorus ends, and he's back to normal reserved and quiet Burr.
“Death doesn’t discriminate between the sinners and the Saints. It takes and it takes and it takes. And we keep living anyway. And we rise, and we fall, and we break, and we make our mistakes. And if there’s a reason I’m still alive when everyone who loves me has died, I’m willing to wait for it. I’m willing to wait for it. Wait for it! I am the one thing in life I can control!
This song ALWAYS brings tears to my eyes!! LMM is such an absolute lyrical *genius*! Can you please react to anything by Stephen Stanley?😍 I feel like you would appreciate him!!
The song sounded good, even though I can't agree with all the lyrics. If you don't start repenting today, but decide to Wait For It, you will find that you're too late.
Have you watched the show? This show illustrates the folly of both “waiting for it” and “taking your shot.” This is Burr’s anthem. It’s brilliant in context. Your statement may be correct, but repentance doesn’t come in until the middle of the second act. LOL
@@heidi_d I have and I haven't seen it, I watched it too late at night, so I kept falling asleep and missed parts. It's a long "movie", but I need to find time to watch it properly.
This is one of those songs that I also don't agree with, but if I'm listening to it I'm still going to sing along with it. I love the emotion in this song and even if it's something that not everyone agrees with, I think most people can understand it and can feel what the character Aaron Burr is feeling which is really what music is all about. I love this song, it's one of my favorites from Hamilton.
@@sydneypeck2488 Mine too! Ironically my other favorite is “The Room Where it Happens” - another Burr anthem that is incredible! Leslie Odum Jr. is just so damn good!

There are no Extras in Musicals like this. It's the Ensemble. People who sing and dance are not Extras. ;)
@@Quotenwagnerianer Also sometimes referred to as the chorus.
they don’t have random movement, it’s all choreographed
Could you say they were… waiting for it?
That first “WAIT FOR IT” drop just hits so different

Lyrically reminds me of "Both Sides Now" in that respect.

This song and performance are perfect. The lyrics, Leslie’s voice, emotion, timing and performance are fantastic!

Leslie has such an expressive and beautiful voice

This is easily one of my favorites in the musical. Just... soooooo good.
If you have Netflix, I believe the 'behind the song' documentary where Lin talks about writing this one is on there! It's fantastic.
Song Exploder and yes, its amazing
This is certainly one of my favorite songs from the musical. Leslie Odom Jr performing LMM's lyrics equals sheer brilliance!
Of all the absolutely brilliant (and brilliantly performed) pieces in this production, this is by far my favorite of the whole show!!
Absolutely loving these Hamilton reactions!

Love Hamilton and Titanup!
I never listened to this song when i relisten to the musical but i gave it a try and it emotionally broke me

Wait...wait...is that your band on the outro? You have a beautiful voice!
Yay, more Hamilton!!

Is that a picture of Marcus Alexander, "Buff," Bagwell on the wall behind you?
Yup!
#TitanUp!!
I love your videos!! i would recommend you listen to Francis Forever, or First Spring / Late Summer , both of the songs by Mitski :DD ❤️
Watch the “Song Exploder” episode #2 on Netflix. LMM explains along with Alex Lac how this song was created. It’s genius.
Could you do a reaction to Brittle by Icon For Hire? Under rated band and I absolutely love your videos

You are not supposed to agree with this character, only understand him.
