Unmatched versatility, access, organization and aesthetics, all from a company born during a trip around the world and run by a bunch of fidgety ramblers.
    Made for Any Traveler
At Peak, we design gear that we ourselves want to use. Like our customers, we're a mishmash of creatives, urbanites, parents, dirtbags...often all of the above. That's why we created a system of packing tools that let you endlessly customize your setup so can carry what you want where you want, and access it whenever you need it.
    Travel Backpack 45L
    Packing Tools

another awesome capability of this bag is using your favorite 3rd party shoulder strap ( I use the Tom Bihn Absolute) with the loop attachment points on the bag (super SUPER strong), and carry as a shoulder bag. Looks smart too. You just can't get tired of the different ways to carry this thing, which is super useful for different travel scenarios.

I gotta say--this bag is so appealing. I've used a Minaal 1.0 for years now, and it's great for the way I travel, but those stow-able hip straps are so nice. The 1.0's little loop just doesn't cut it in this regard. If they ever made a 25-35L version of this bag, I'd be all in forever.

I absolutely love this bag. Theres finally a photographer's bag that can rival the Lowepro 450aw. Only problem I had with that was that it can only fit camera gear and nothing else. This bag with the small camera pouch that I can side sling is the perfect combination for travel.

Just finished this nearly 50 minute video which seemed almost to short. How is that possible? Like the magnets (how do they work)?? Had to smile @ the Ynot Deploy recommendation as I just visited their factory / store today and ordered the same bag!! Very cool bag and great people working there. Nice enough to mod my Deploy a bit. As for the PD Travel bag I'm now a backer!! Got the travel bundle + camera cube medium. That Tech pouch drew me in and once I checked out their 2 hangout video's and compared their offerings with Minaal + Aer & others, it scratches the itch best! This vid was just delicious icing on the cake. Awesome review @Chase Reeves!!!

I had been looking at the Aer Travel 2 backpack, the Pakt Travel Backpack, she thought they were a tad to small for me. Then I saw the Tortuga Outbreaker and liked it, but thought, "This is maybe too technical (X-Pac) for me..." I keep coming back to the peak design or the Bellroy Transit Large, and the Peak Design, especially with the packing cubes, seems like a winner for me. It's a great looking, well designed travel backpack.

Quality review and I admire the design and execution. Lot of thought has been put into this bag. There's an interesting juxtaposition between one bag travel (which can encourage a minimal approach) and this bag which has so many built in features that it requires the user think how they want to use this bag. It's almost the equivalent of that Swiss Swiss Army knife that has all the tools. Nothing wrong with that at all - this bag will suit many as a jack of all trades and last for ever. But it's maybe something for some users to think about. I've opted for the new Heimplanet for this reason - a simpler but still well made bag. But it took me some time to decide what I wanted. Choice is good.

    Morning brother!
Great review! Your passion and energy are infectious, its clear this bag has you seriously vibrating.
Going to watch this vid again, then share some thoughts.
Peak Designs has serious design chops. It's evident this bag is the product of serious human interface design.
The IT bag? WTF? It's an amazing little bag if a bit too thick. Same for that great dopp kit.
The handle? Yeah both the right amount of padding and the appropriate concavity height are required to make thoughtless grab and go possible.
This is the first backpack that would make me consider not traveling with my GR1
BTW, love that little PD below the top strap on the back.
Just noticed, the back of the bag with the straps stowed? A turtles underside. Boom
Last thought, wish you had those compression buttons on the bottom corners as well. Make the silhouette smaller. In reality I'd just carry a small packable daybag.

I am so glad to see you review this. I have been watching the kickstarter and going back and forth over and over again if this is going the be THE bag for me. A few details: I produce music, so when I travel on business (say a week trip to LA), I always have: clothes, toilet kit, gym shoes, 25 key midi controller, pre amp, mic cables, mic, powered usb hub, bendy mic stand thing, headphones, 15 inch macbook, tablet, all the power cable shit, and all the other little stuff like airpods, and dongles and all the things...I was almost ready to buy the GoRuck GR2...I was also about to buy the peak 24 for daily carry (running to meetings around town with laptop, tablet, etc,)...but ugh...just couldn't decide. Then, I see the travel line kickstarter, and i'm thinking that not only could this work for me in the LA business trip context...but if I went back to New Zealand for 4 months, or decided to walk across Europe again..then this thing could totally handle everything. I have no idea what else could be out there, and I am new to your channel (which is badass btw), sooooo, given the overload of info I just dropped in this comment, and the fact that you have probably tested every freaking bag on the planet...is there something else I'm not looking at that I should be...? cuzzzz, this bag kinda feels like the one that is gonna handle all my use cases. ok, later. many thanks for any help or thoughts you can share!

I wanted the peak design bag so much as well but the size is slightly too tall for European travel as someone stated above. The weight is another factor. I want something light that I can use as an everyday carry bag but load up as my one bag for travel and have it fit easily in the overhead carry on any flight to any country. I may cancel the bag, get either that heimplanet or GoRuck, or even that Tom Binh bag, then load it with Peak Design inserts.

I've been using the Osprey 46 Porter for years with a similar organization strategy. I love the side access panels and the waterbottle sleeve on the PD, something I always wish I had with the Osprey. I am curious if the straps on the PD are as comfy as the Osprey's, which has shoulder support straps. Looks like it may be time for an upgrade.

Thanks for the review! So have you travelled with this one much? How did it go in practice? Also, how much does your packed out big packing cube weigh?

Seems like a sweet bag!... Just not sure I can give up my Osprey backpack with the extending handle and wheels, for going through the airports. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Hey brother, just want to let you know that I got the bag because of your review. I had been searching for weeks to find the best travel/photo hybrid bag. I ended up going for the Wandrd Hexad Access..It was the only bag that seemed to fit all my gear efficiently (Camera/lenses/gimbal/drone)... Everything you had mentioned in the review came to light.
-I felt it pulling back on me, and I hadn't even packed it full.
-The material was very tough, which required me to bend the bag whilst zipping.
-There aren't any extra tech pockets/hidden fun pockets.
Honestly, it isn't a terrible bag. It just doesn't seem like a $300 investment (+photo cube/waist straps).. This bag by Peak easily looks what it's worth. I have a few trips before December, and will be postponing getting a bag until then. But I pulled the trigger on this Kickestarter because of this review. Keep up the good work brother! Big fan!

That moment when the bag is just under half your size.
But man I can't wait to get my hands on it. Such a well thought up version of the bag

nice video, seems like a good bag.. bit on the heavy side and it's not carry on size for some european flights.
i was really hoping to see a comparison to the Minaal Carry-on 2.0

Thanks so much. Your reviews are so detailed and I enjoy watching it. Your reviews are both entertaining and informative. I'll start my traveling experience next year and as a student, the peak design is ideal, but out of my budget. It's a pity that I missed Peak Design's Kickstarter campaign for this Travel Bag. Do you know if they will do a relaunch or would you ever do a giveaway? If so, I'd be grateful for the Peak Design travel bag and it's accessories. Keep up the amazing reviews

I like bags with fully adjustable harness systems we all have different length torsos and the must have something going on on the outsiders mills pockets Velcro etc if not for me its a wasted chance to make it greater.
