I'm impressed. Usually these top-videos show animes that I have already watched, but in this case, there are several interesting anime that I have never heard of in more than 2 decades of watching anime. This anime world is so vast. I love it. Thanks for the video!
@@Pokeringo Yes. How could such innovative horror tales go unchecked? I mean Paranoia Agent had its moments, but it failed to deliver the connection to the characters that Higurashi had. When you fear the characters bit wish them no harm you know it's going to be a wild ride. ;)
From The New World is an INCREDIBLE futuristic story, and I won't spoil anything else. It's still one of my go-to recommendations for good storytelling.
I watched Shin sekai yori (from the new world) as an unsuspecting teenager and it blew my mind out of my skull and into the depths of hell and chaos! Glad to see it on this list! ☺️
For me, Elfen Lied is both enjoyable with lighter moments, and incredibly dark because it depicts the cruelty of children and those who can act without consequence all too well. For me, it's a permanent keeper (like Ergo Proxy), but not one I watch often.
Ergo Proxy was pretty good until the forced romance came into play and the very end. They really screwed that up. Elfen Lied suffers from the same problems. They both have unbearable main characters but incredibly strong and well liked heroine's. Just get ride of the male stand ins and you'd have a solid series.
Kudos on actually mentioning a couple I'd never heard of, it doesn't happen often. Most of the time these lists contain the same titles over and over but you managed to actually surprise me, even the ones I did know about prior aren't ones you typically see in videos like this.
Wow, great list! As someone who's seen hundreds of anime and know what i like and dislike from them, I sometimes find it hard to choose shows that I havent seen that also interest me. Ive heard all the same recommendations over and over 😅 Your list is very thoughtful and unique! It has so many titles i knew little about and havent even heard of before! This is a genuinely helpful video and i now have 5 shows lined up to be watched next 😄 Thank you!! Also, wish more people knew about Rainbow. Still one of the best anime ive ever seen, yet no one ive talked to seems to have heard of it! Hopefully this video gets lots of people checking it out
Metropolis is based on a classic b&w movie. No Longer Human was based on a classic novel by Osamu Dazai. Adapted into stage plays, live-action movies, radio dramas as such. Great read.
Dude holy shit! I’m glad someone is bringing more attention to Rainbow Nisha Rokubou no Shinichi or whatever it’s full name is. It’s one of my favorite shows of all time. The only other ones I had heard on this list were Metropolis and From The New World. I’ll be sure to check them out along with a few of your other recommendations! Thank you for making this video :)
I scrolled a bit to see if anyone had said it but haven't found anyone saying Happy Sugar Life is NOT a high school girl falling in love with another high school girl... but a KINDERGARTENER
Shin Sekai Yori (From the New World) is in the top five of my all time fave animes and has been for years and years now. It will never lose it's place no matter how many hundreds upon hundreds of animes I've watched. The story, the art, the characters... a Brilliant Anime. Oh, edit.... Rainbow is an absolutely fantastic anime too.... right up there with the best of the best.
Agree 100% with this. I remember just starting it on a whim and then I just got immediately hooked into it. I think it’s fair saying this anime deserves a top 5 spot
Rainbow is such abeautiful anime, and every character has a dark plot to which they go through not once, BUT TWICE (EACH ONE) in the whole serie! I enjoyed it a lot, and it really touches you.
How you feel about the "Rainbow" that's how I feel about this video. Just found your channel, and just had to thank you for the inspiration, amazing writing and one of the best Storytelling I've heard... In quite some time. So Thank You Sir! 😊
"from the new world" starts out chill, but as the story progresses, it gets creepier and creepier. At the end your mind is blown by the sheer cruelty on both sides. Stuck in the middle are the innocent children who grew up not knowing anything until much later. good watch.
Rainbow is really great, ngl! It's really refreshing to watch characters without powers get through their challenges. It's also a little traumatic, for me at least. I kept getting chills as some of the episodes got me in tears, and there's the feeling of helplessness from the viewer in some scenes. The 'beach episode' was so worth the wait though!
Happy Sugar Life is NOT dubbed, just as a heads up to anyone interested in watching it. It got an episode or 2 of fan dubbing but that's it. Also, as many have pointed out, the show isn't about 2 high school girls and the "love" is....complicated to define.
Metropolis is a classic gem and I love it! Also the only one I've seen on your list, other than your passing reference to Psycho Pass, which I also love.
have you tried Akame ga Kill? or Requiem from the Darkness? I really liked them. And most of the list I have watched or known already. Cossette manga and Le Chevalier D' Eon is wonderful!
I absolutely LOVE From the New World. The ending had me thinking and feeling like shit for a while. Also, she does not fall in love with another high school girl in Happy Sugar life. She's loving an 8 year old... bruh D:

Junji Ito did No Longer Human far better with more justice. It also wasn't a totally fictionalized novel, but a semi auto biography.
